What to Expect
When you arrive at Chilmark Cottage, the first thing you will notice is the view. Virtually every room in the house has a water view. Multiple sets of sliding glass doors provide exquisite views of the water and easy access to the deck, which spans the entire back of the house. The deck has a grill and a dining area that comfortably seats 8.
The main floor has two bedrooms. The front bedroom has a king-size bed. Across the hall is a full bath with a shower/tub combination. The back bedroom has a full-size bed, a desk, and views of the water. The kitchen, dining area, and living room complete the main floor and all have water views. The outdoor shower is located on the side of the house. A quaint circular staircase leads you upstairs where you will find two more bedrooms and a full bathroom with a shower stall. Each of the upstairs bedrooms has two twin beds (4 beds total) and views of the water.
Once you settle in, you’ll want to explore. Follow the backyard path down to a trail that leads to the private association beach. It’s about a five-minute walk. Or, if you prefer a bit more exercise, there are 3 miles of private walking trails around the association which can lead you over to Great Rock Bight Preserve’s public trails. There are also two private association tennis courts you can enjoy during your stay.
What Makes This Place Special?
As one of the original homes in Spring Point, this remarkable piece of the Vineyard was lovingly passed down through the same family for over 50 years. They decided to sell it in 2022 and we knew right away that it was a rare gem. Sitting on over 3 acres of wooded north shore land, the home has stunning views of Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands. The sunsets from the back deck are nothing short of magical. There are over 68 acres of common land in Spring Point, 3 miles of walking trails, and 3/4 of a mile of private beach. We fell in love with this place the moment we saw it. Since acquiring it, we have taken great care to balance bringing in modern amenities while maintaining the home's rustic Chilmark charm. We hope you will love it as much as we do!

The Chilmark cottage offered everything that we seek in a family getaway. Comfortable accommodations, stunning views, privacy, tranquility, and proximity to our favorite parts of the island. We hope to come back! The picturesque trails and empty beaches were unmatched. Thank you for a beautiful stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed the amazing views and gorgeous, setting at this throwback cottage. The area could not have been more tranquil. Stunning. Just right. Access to best beaches. Tennis courts. Loved it.
This is a lovely cottage 5 minutes walk from a picturesque private association beach where we took daily morning walks. At low tide, you can also follow the beach to the Great Rock Bight Preserve, which is about 15 minutes away. The cottage itself is a gem. It is very tastefully furnished. It has a large deck with a spectacular view of the sunset over the water. The bedrooms are comfortable and the open plan kitchen/dining room/living room with sliding doors to the deck add up to a spacious public area. The cottage is well stocked with beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs, and umbrella and the Chilmark address provides access to the lovely Lucy Vincent and Squibnocket beaches. The Aquinnah public beach is also close by as are the 7a foods and the Chilmark General Store, both pricey but good for sandwiches, pizza, and groceries. Two small minuses. The sound really carries from the upstairs bedrooms to the master bedroom and can make it hard to sleep. And although the outside shower helps, the cottage has only 2 small bathrooms for up to 8 people. But all in all, wonderful house in a glorious location.
Very clean upon arrival. Hosts very responsive to inquiries. We enjoyed our stay. This house offers a calming water view from its very nice size deck. Birds chirping. Fabulous sunsets. Outside shower is always a treat, easy access right off the kitchen sliding door. Brief walk or 2 minute drive to the private beach for reading, walks, and sunsets. Loved it. Besides one other person, we were alone. Gorgeous untouched rocky beach. Not very wide, especially during high tide but beautiful escape during low tide. While you can swim, not optimum. Walked daily. House is located down a long dirt road deep into the woods. Beautiful location. Very private and quiet. Used tic preventative measures due to epidemic tic bone illnesses spreading on the island. Did the trick, no tics found on us. House has a knotty pine cottage feel. A/C units are very effective and quiet. While we loved the character of the house, could use a little updating, especially in the very small bathrooms.
