About Barbie Hartsfield

Barbie (owner) designed the cabin after finding the lot during a week-end trip to the area and her and her family - built the cabin - - The mounted deer head on the wall is her son's first - - and he was a young teenager at the time and helped build the cabin - as well as his father and both of his grandfathers, one came down all the way from Wisconsin to help! Barbie now lives in the Chicago area. She lived in Tallahassee Florida where she raised her children - - and traveled to Lake Eufuala and fell in love with the area! - - just 2 hours from Tallahassee and 3 from Atlanta.

Barbie Hartsfield purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Barbie Hartsfield chose Georgia

Owner Barbie, discovered Lake Eufaula (also called George F. Walter lake) on a week-end trip to celebrate a birthday and fell in love with the clear water and sandy beaches and tall Georgia pine trees and the surrounding Alabama Hills - the lake is Ideal for swimming, boating and fishing and has many fishing tournaments and events held at the George T. Bagby State Park which is where she stayed for their week-end and later purchased the Buck Creek Cabin lake lot just 3 miles north of that State Park. Only 2 hours from Tallahassee and 3 from Atlanta!

What makes this cabin unique

She loves to fish from the dock while watching the sunset! The dock is covered and many times she and her friends enjoyed a summer rain shower right on the dock! We float on rafts right off the dock and enjoy music from the ipod player that is provided. This covered dock has a covered boat slip and large enough for the whole family to enjoy fishing - Night fishing is alot of fun too! My nephew loves the dock so much he even slept several nights on it! It is a rejuvenating - relaxing - escape "off grid" from busy stressful living - hear the wind in the pines - the birds of all kinds - warm sun in the day and cozy fire at night that keeps brisk air away!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great time as usual! Enjoyed fishing from the dock - caught over 30 fish! Enjoyed beautiful sunsets from the dock - - and we will return again next year! We love Buck Creek Cabin!

Great little cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my boyfriend spent New Years Eve weekend at Buck Creek Cabin, and it was just perfect! The tranquility was on point and it was so peaceful. It was like we were on our own little island. The cabin was the perfect size for the two of us and our pooch. Great little fire pit on the porch and in the yard. Grill worked great for our steaks! And... we forgot out fishing poles at home, luckily and thankfully the owners had some on site to save the day! I can't wait to return!

Just what the Doctor ordered.

Took my husband up there for a relaxing weekend and it was great! Cute little cabin with great views. Pictures do reflect the cabin and area very well. Very easy to forget that there are people very close to you as it is surrounded by thick trees. Not really sure if I'd swim off the dock, but it might just be the time of year we went, the water wasn't more then four feet and the grass is about that tall. We went in September and the water line on the wall was about three or four feet higher. We will most likely return and I've already told my family they need to go. We ate at the Food Giant the first night and at The Tough for breakfast. Both weren't bad for what they are and the area they are in. The Food Giant has everything you need and the night shift has some great staff. Never meet a nicer cashier, wish I'd gotten her name. The Tough (I think that was the name) was okay the waitress must have been new and wasn't the best people person, but the cook knew her stuff was super nice and helpful and made good food.Owner is relaxed and easy to work with. Had some issues with the links to pay, but she was super helpful and took all the stress out of it. She will send you great directions and if you follow them you won't get lost. She also has a book in the cabin with tips of where to eat and how to get around, very helpful. She also return the deposit right away, no waiting or drama. All in all it was just what we needed. My husband's blood pressure dropped by 30 points from our weekend which I guess just shows how relaxing the whole thing was!

Great place to relax and unwind!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cabin for a quick weekend trip and were sad that we had to leave. It was so convenient from Columbus, taking only a little over an hour. Because there were only 2 of us, the size was perfect. We enjoyed the private wooded lot and the covered dock. We will definitely be returning!

3 thumbs up!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was the best experience we have ever had in a real long time. The advertisement does not do it justice. It is a whole lot better than we were expecting. Everything you possibly needed and then some. A home away from home. The cabin is very clean, comfortable, and sweet. We have been to other places, but this has been the best!!! We will be back.
