We were travelling as a group of nine with a dog. The whole stay was nothing short of wonderful. There was much to explore in the surrounding area. The house itself gave a warm, welcoming feeling. Stephen was a very responsive host
The place was excellent. So much so we stayed there instead of going out a couple of days as there was plenty to do and it was big enough for the whole family to do their own thing. I would thoroughly recommend this place.
What a delightful area, surrounded by farmland and pretty villages.
The property is an impressive former farmhouse and is ideally suited for family get togethers. Highly recommended.
Large expansive farm property. Lots of indoor and outdoor space for 8 adults and 3 small children. Relaxing time to chill and have family time. Tennis facility was well used and a bonus.
With nine adults and one child, this house was perfect for our group. We found the fireplace and large dining area to be perfect for our reunion. The games room and outdoor ping pong table were also greatly appreciated by our group. In summer, the three different outdoor areas would also be appreciated, however we stayed mainly indoors. Great communication from Stephen when we had questions. Loved our stay. Hope to return some day in the Summer.
We were only a small group of six (plus one dog) so we had plenty of room in this large house. We chose to stay here owing to its quiet, rural location and large open spaces, although it is only a short drive from several large towns.
It is an attractive property (as shown in the photographs) and the rooms are really spacious; it was clean and comfortable and lacked nothing in the way of facilities or equipment. Great use has been made of the outside spaces where we made the most of the warm summer evenings.
Check-in was straightforward and Stephen was always a quick email away. We only needed to contact him prior to our stay and he responded quickly.
Overall we had a fantastic week here and enjoyed our stay immensely (we wish it could have been longer). We would have no hesitation in staying here again should we return to the area.

18th century property 1hr form paris
We, me and my husband and our four children, stayed in this quintessential French Country House in July 2012. It was an easy drive from the CDG Airport. We felt we had arrived to a magical place! We simply drove up to the fairytale house, as the children called it. The caretaker met us there and she was lovely, well-organized, and extremely helpful.
The solitude and beautiful countryside made for a welcome rest from our life in a city. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous and is large so we all felt we had enough space. The amenities and supplies were very good and everything was well-organized. The gardens and surrounding fields were picturesque and we loved exploring and walking around the property everyday.
From the house we were able to visit nearby towns like Laon, and Pierrefonds where there is an amazing castle!
We also visited the Domain of Chantilly and saw the Horse Show which the children loved and it was certainly a highlight of our trip. We also were able to visit EuroDisney, the Mercier Cellars in Champagne, Troyes where we ate delicious crepes, and we even went to Belgium for a short visit.
We loved our trip and cannot wait to return to this magnificent property and this part of France!

Perfect family retreat in the French countryside
Two families stayed at this spacious, wonderfully appointed renovated farm house in Picardy over the American Memorial Day holiday. We had two adults, a fifteen year old, and two ten year olds. The host was very accommodating in making arrangements, and working out the details of our stay. We went to the ceremonies at Belleau Woods for Memorial Day weekend, and it was very convenient for that. The area is very quiet and safe, gorgeous country side, friendly neighbors. My son and his friend explored creeks, visited the nearby horses, rode bikes. We all took walks, played pingpong, read books. The adults needed to do some work, and the wifi was important in making that possible. The house is extremely comfortable. The house was plenty large enough for two families. There were abundant linens, abundant dining and cooking supplies. The small town is within four kilometers, and has shops for food and supplies. The caretaker is very friendly and available. The yard is large and well maintained. We brought our small dog, and as the yard is enclosed, it was perfect for her.
We would definately stay here again. It was a high standard of accommodation for a very reasonable price. We did go into Paris one day, and toured champagne caves another. There was far more to see and do than we did - we really enjoyed just relaxing. I recommend it highly for someone interested in enjoying the French countryside just a short distance from Paris.

Dear Kathy, thank you so much for the kind words! We hope to see you and your family once again in Montmanjeon! All the best, Stephen
Alles vorhanden, gute Beschreibung, was da ist.

About the host
Hosted by Stephen Girardin
My parents bought this property when i was 4, and all my childhood memories remain in the walls of this house. I used to live in Paris when i grew up, and we would go to this house every single weekend! After studying biology at the Pasteur Institute (Paris) for several years, I moved with my wife and our two kids to Toronto, where i do research at the University of Toronto.
Why they chose this property
When we bought this house in 1975, my parents fell in love with the location: so quiet, so secluded, yet so close to Paris (1h drive). The house is surrounded by rolling hills of open farmland, and the only noise you hear is birds singing! However, when we bought the house, it was in a very rough shape. The roof was leaking and we had to change 500 square meters of roof tiles!! There was no toilet, no bathroom, no heat, and only the kitchen and a bedroom were 'livable'. After nearly 40 years of renovations, we uncovered the original gem, fully renovated 275 square meters of living space, kept the original charm of the old farmhouse, but brought comfort and high-end finish throughout.
