One of our favorite reviews from Susan K:
Eight of us stayed in the Hemlock in July 2013 and had a fantastic time. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and although it wasn't easy sharing one bathroom with eight people (six of them females!), we were all impressed at how spacious and clean the bathroom was (we'd once stayed in a cabin on another Michigan lake where we needed to wear shoes in the tiny, dark shower - this was a nice change!). The Hemlock has plenty of sleeping space, and the well-equipped kitchen has a nice, new-looking stainless steel refrigerator with an ice maker, plus another small refrigerator for extra storage. The view from the cabin window is incredible. Outside, we loved relaxing in the hammock, cooking out, and couldn't believe how many stars we could see at night. I especially enjoyed the wonderful kayaks. We took long kayak trips each morning and explored both Little Glen Lake and Big Glen Lake - both were crystal clear and stunningly beautiful. We also enjoyed nearby activities like hiking Sleeping Bear Dunes (both the official dune climb and the Pierce Stocking 'not recommended, do-it-at-your-own-risk' climb), hiking the Empire Bluff trail, biking all over town, making many stops at Cherry Republic, and kayaking the Crystal River. We even spent a day in beautiful Mackinac Island. But honestly... we could have had a wonderful week without ever leaving the cabin. Both the management and owners were friendly and accommodating, and made us feel welcome. We range in age from 10 years old to 40-something, and we all had a fantastic time in the Hemlock. July 2013

Was the perfect little get away
The house was great the kids stayed entertained with all they offer. The kayaks we're so fun and we made smores in the fire pit the view was amazing the house is very cozy got great family time. The property ower was very nice he stopped by on our rainy day to tell us what there was around for rainy days I thought that was very sweet of him. I would definitely recommend staying here and would love to return.
Great location, disappointing cabin
This cottage is on Little Glen Lake across the street from Sleeping Bear Dunes hiking trails and a five minute drive to the Dune Climb & Glen Arbor. The area is amazing and Birch Shores' location is ideal. It included kayaks, a canoe, and a rowboat for guest use and the price was good for a three bedroom lakefront cottage. Nice, grassy yard area with a hammock, the lake is clear, shallow with a sandy bottom, perfect for kids to swim in front of the cabin. In addition to linens bring extra toilet paper, kleenex, and trash bags as there was about a 2 day supply provided. Lots of fridge space, but very little space for other groceries in the kitchen.
The web site advertised but did not deliver a low allergen environment, firewood, and internet. In the summer they probably remember firewood but in Oct there were only a few half burned logs in the fire pit. There was a router plugged in and blinking away in the cabin with no ethernet cable attached to it. If it was set up as a repeater for the base modem/router in the owner's on-site home, it was not registering any IP address. The signal from the router in the owner's house was not strong enough to maintain a connection on either my smartphone or my tablet. I spent a couple hours of my vacation trying to troubleshoot the internet, with no TV I had planned on watching a little Netflix but no dice. I called the property manager and she stopped by and reset the router in the house, said hopefully that will do the trick, it worked all summer, and that was it. No follow up and no internet all week.
Anyone with indoor allergies to dust, mold, or mildew should avoid the Hemlock cabin where we stayed. There were mildew stains on the bathroom ceiling, and water stains in one bedroom and on some sagging ceiling tiles by the fireplace from an old roof leak. The kitchen and living area had stained, low pile carpet that was vacuumed but looked pretty nasty. Notice there are no pictures of the Hemlock Cabin on the web site. I was told they are installing laminate flooring before the 2015 rental season, good idea, but didn't help us much while we were there.
It's probably OK in summer when you can open windows and stay outside.almost all the time, but would not recommend to anyone with allergies or if you plan on sitting inside at all, the couch and 2 chairs were ancient and uncomfortable. We liked it enough to stay all week but were disappointed. It wasn't a dump but it wasn't very comfortable, either.
OWNER’S REPONSE TO OCTOBER 2014 REVIEW:
New capable friendly Management and competent House Cleaners have addressed the faults of October, 2014.
1. Firewood is now furnished up to November 1st.
2. The Spectrum internet is supported by a Wi-Fi router to a 48 inch high-definition TV for espn, Netflix, Amazon Prime, ABC, NBC, etc.
3. The previously mentioned ceiling stains have been corrected by a new roof after the disastrous Aug 2, 2015 storm.
4. A new laminated distressed oak floor has replaced the old carpeting.
5. New pillows, Velux blankets and mattress covers for all beds.
6. New double hammock.
7. The docks, kayaks and boats are all stored after October 8th.
Our location 2 miles from the Dunes, the Heritage Trail, Glen Arbor's shopping, Boone Docks and Art's colorful Tavern are unmatched.
No other rental includes 5 kayaks and a free fishing boat, boat moorings and 2 docks.

Amazing place! Extremely Beautiful!
Great place for a weekend getaway. We spent the memorial day weekend here and had a great time! The view is stunning and the lake is beautiful. The cabin is small(ish) but not cramped. It is not a luxury cabin but its not bad by any standards. You don't go to Glen lake to stay in a cabin all day. There were kayaks and a canoe that was free to use which was a HUGE bonus that lead us to this place.
Free firewood available on site. You may have to go around collecting starter twigs but that is an experience we enjoyed as well.
Great landlords! They treat you like guests and not merely customers.
We will definitely go back!
Beautiful Lakefront Cabin with stunning views
Me and my friend (4 of us) were here for the long weekend. we stayed at the Hemlock cabin. The location of this cabin is just fantastic with stunning unobstructed views of the beautiful glen lake. The cabin hosts great amenities. Firewood, grill, full kitchen, comfortable beds, shallow waters <3-4 ft for quite a distance, no pests made our memorial day weekend quite memorable. All the owners were extremely friendly. Scott,Gail and Elaine provided us with a boat and kayaks without additional charge which was quite a plus. The cabin comfortably sleeps 5-6 people. Overall we were very happy with the cabin! Also, thanks to scott's brother who gave us some excellent local tips! I would highly recommend this to small family and 5-6 people.
Birch Shores Resort Little Glen Lake
We have been coming up for more than 8 years and wouldn't even try to look for another place in the area. Just the perfect cabins on Little Glen Lake. Just the way you want your time away from home. On one of the most beautiful lakes in the country. The Birch Shores Resort cabins can't get any better. Both Cabins sleep 8 and have 3 rooms and with 2 of them with bunk beds perfect for the kids, a full kitchen and a Grill outside. Very Clean inside and made for that relaxing vacation right on the water. I have brought my family with my 3 kids and there is plenty of room. This year we visited twice, and I brought my Father in Law once and He just loved the cabins. 2nd Time my friends came up and everyone loved it. The owners do such a great job with everything and are the kind of people that will help you have the perfect time away from home. I just wish I could have stayed longer and so does my family and my friends. Thanks Scott and Gale
With Kindest Regards, Aaron Morris
