Graduation weekend
My wife was receiving her Masters degree from Appalachian State University and we wanted somewhere nearby to stay. This location was perfect for the two of us. We enjoyed the solitude of having the area completely to ourselves and the beauty of it by the river. The barndominium was beautifully appointed and we were very comfortable during our three nights there.

Boone area Barndominium
Very nice place and very nicely decorated. Definitely spacious enough for two or 2 plus one/two kids. Hosts thought of pretty much everything; although if you get up during the night like I do, bring a nite light. I read another review that mentioned there were no windows (which honestly freaked me out a little but it was fine). Technically there are so you do get a little bit of daylight, but you can't see out of them. This is the basement of the building, although other than the window situation you'd never know it. It was somewhat confusing when we first walked in as it didn't look anything like the pictures but then we realized that our space was down the steps and through the door to the left. As for the space, the king bed was comfortable, the bathroom was a decent size with a nice walk-in shower and plenty of towels, the closet was spacious, and the kitchen was a nice size and had what we needed. Overall very nice and quiet and I would recommend it. Nicely situated close to the BRP, Boone, Blowing Rock, and West Jefferson.

Basement apartment
Overall a nice place. It was comfortable, clean, and a nice layout. The big downside is that there are no windows. A mountain stay with no windows was very disappointing.

clean cute quirky
We only stayed one night. It was bitter cold outside and the little apartment was super cold walking barefoot on the wood floors. The fireplace was inoperable due to pilot light issues. The heat worked well but take slippers! We contacted owners and they explained and apologized for the situation. We appreciated their immediate response and desire to accommodate. When you first go thru the "doorway" to the downstairs basement/apt. you walk thru a quirky weird area. At first I didn't know if it was part of the rental or not. It has couch, desk, bbq grill etc but its not for the guest. It was not heated and like I said it was bitter cold and so was this area. Lots of chimes and things hanging from ceiling..hence the quirky part. Hosts have gone the extra mile providing some essentials such as toiletries etc. which is always a nice touch. A gift basket of snacks and water was also provided. We've stayed in muuuch more expensive houses that hasn't provided these extras. Overall the host is top notch in care of guest and provisions.
