About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Manzanillo is a tourist spot for Mexicans from Guadalajara and Mexico City. It’s a beautiful Mexican Rivera town that is unspoiled by hoards of tourists. The beaches are virtually deserted during the week and are populated by Mexican tourists and their families on the weekends. Beach vendors, a constant irritation at most resort towns, are virtually non-existant here. The people are very friendly and open to trying to understand your poor attempts at Spanish and bizarre hand signs.

The drug war? The state of Colima has the lowest rate of crime in all of Mexico. In general we feel safer here than on trips to L.A., Chicago, New York, and even Seattle.

The capitol of Colima is a short 40 miles away via a modern and well maintained toll road. While heading there you will find groves of palm, coconut, and mango trees on your left and the Pacific ocean on your right. Once there you will find a modern colonial style city that is the site of many educational institutions. Travel 20 miles more and you will be at the foot of the active volcano you have seen spouting steam the last 60 miles.

Back in Manzanillo you can swim, snorkel, fish (some of the best sports fishing in the world), golf at one of the world’s top courses, tour the Malecon, eat in a 5 star restaurant, or visit the iguana refuge or turtle sanctuary. Or you can sit on your balcony and watch the cargo and cruise ships come into port.

Our neighborhood, formally the Zona Hoteleria, is now the up and coming trendy neighbourhood of Manzanillo. Within a short walk, you can enjoy a quaint neighourhood, traditional Mexican fare and upscale dining, as well as a local bakery, butcher and the fresh cooked chicken stand for an easy at home meal. Busses and taxis are always available. If you prefer driving there is easy and secure parking available right outside your door.

The downtown area, which is visible from our palapa, is a short three miles away. There you will find the community gathered at the Malecon with their families, for entertainment, crafts, water shows, eating, skateboarding, and people watching.

Manzanillo is such a great place! Your enjoyment, relaxation, and fun are guaranteed. Come to enjoy - Mi casa es su casa!

About Shari Levine and Alan Smith

We first started our travels to Mexico on a honeymoon cruise. We continued to return, loving the friendly people, the beautiful sites, the climate that gave us relief from the rainy, damp cold of Portland, Oregon, where we live the rest of the year.

Coming to Manzanillo was a fluke! We had two free roundtrip air tickets on Alaska from volunteering to be bumped, and we looked at a map and said 'there'.

Once here, we explored the town and fell in love. Finding our condo was also a fluke, or perhaps fated. A real estate agent took us on a tour of properties, and the last one she showed us was a lovely, beachfront condo with a very special rooftop terrace. Throwing caution to the wind, we jumped on it and have never looked back! We come three to four times a year, and have only grown deeper in love with this special place we call our second home.

Why Shari Levine and Alan Smith chose Manzanillo

Manzanillo chose us! Whether it was a fluke, fated or the work of the gods, an opportunity to become part of this wonderful ocean community presented itself to us. Who were we to say no to paradise?

What makes this condo unique

Most of all, we love the tranquil atmosphere and the rest from hectic lives back home. Listening to the waves crashing against the beach, watching the ships sail on by, feeling the cool ocean breezes against our skin are just a few of the wonderful experiences we enjoy here. Our condo boasts a very special rooftop terrace overlooking the ocean. We enjoy resting, reading, napping, and most of all just staring out into the blue sky and amazing ocean view from this little slice of heaven.

Budget Holiday

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Shari and Alan's condo for one month. The unit was clean when we arrived. There were plenty of fluffy towels, lots of dishes, a BBQ on the upper terrace and a great view of the beach. We didn't use the air conditioning. There are fans in the unit. The maintenance staff are friendly and helpful. They work hard to keep the grounds clean and secure. Las Brisas is a nice neighborhood with lots of restaurants and stores. Sheri was very accommodating and always answered any questions. The building is older, so there are quirks and things could be updated, but I feel it was fair for the price. I would recommend this condo for those on a budget and those who are going to spend the majority of time outside.

What a beautiful peaceful place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed two months (January and February 2016) in this penthouse located in Condo Brisas Del Puerto in Manzanillo Bay without crowding beach which stretches for several kilometers. We quickly discovered the many benefits of this condo in a site that may seem modest at first sight: street with little traffic but well connected every 10 minutes by two bus routes in front of the door (to the downtown line number 5 and line number 8 for grocery stores Soriana and Mega, Wallmart and Plaza Manzanillo, just 7 pesos), very quiet place both inside and outdoor, no neighbors above because it is a top floor unit, no traffic in front of the door because just one door neighbor, beautiful exterior view unobstructed because directly on the seafront, a huge private and intimate terrace of 500 square feet with patio furnishing and with access from inside the condo, no pets in the building, small site with only 40 condos which the majority are unoccupied, clean pool and hot tub, maintenance staff during day and evening and security gard at night, inside the condo is very clean, 2 bathrooms with good water pressure and a lot of hot water, kitchen with all functional appliances and good wi-fi internet service at good speed. If you do not feel like cooking, a number of restaurants in various prices are within walking distance. A convenience store selling alcoholic beverage is also nearby. Very safe neighborhood as the whole city of Manzanillo. I It was very easy to deal with Shari which is a very good host. I highly recommend this condo.

Instant Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Our 10-day vacation in March was absolutely the most lovely, peaceful experience I've had in years. The condo was very comfortable, affordable, tastefully and simply furnished, and had all the necessities to spend long, easy days and nights. We like to cook, and the kitchen amenities and availability of great foods--fresh mangoes, shrimp, tortillas-- was wonderful. The Wifi, DVD and book library a real plus. Best of all was the expanse of Pacific Ocean right in front of us: the sound of waves at night, tropical breezes, colorful sunsets, a pool, and a lovely beach. Sitting on the upper terrace to read and watch the array of birds and ships was a very happy thing to do any time of day.

The neighborhood was great, too, for photography, very friendly local folks, and just taking in the "real" Mexico. I got by just fine on my limited Spanish. Buses and taxis were inexpensive (not to mention a relief from all the driving of my daily life) and a great way to visit local destinations like downtown Manzanillo, and other outings (the snorkeling is fantastic!)

I would certainly recommend a stay here for anyone.

Charming and Homey

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent a month at this condo in Feb. 2011. It was one of the nicest places that we have rented over our 25 years vacationing in Mexico. The living space was a perfect blend of indoor and alfresco, with the roof terrace, lounges and BBQ calling to us everyday. Because we like to mix with the locals, the location of this condo in a quaint neighborhood allowed us to walk and enjoy the little cafe restaurants and grocery stores that the locals frequent. The grounds here are immaculate, and security is excellent. It is a very relaxing home away from home.

Great Christmas Vacation Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My two sons and I had the opportunity to spend 8 nights at Las Brisas during this past Christmas. The condo was perfect! Very tidy, homey and roomy. Absolutely loved the peace and quiet. This condo is very centrally located with all the amenities of home. The owners have done an excellent job describing this property, I felt like I had already been there, before even viewing it in person!

The private roof top terrace was a nice bonus, spent much time up there enjoying the sun, peace and tranquility. It was wonderful waking up to the sunrise over the ocean, and taking morning walks on an almost deserted beach.

Truly enjoyed the library of DVDs and books, especially the Manzanillo Tourist guide tips by Susan Dearing. Very informative about every aspect of Manzanillo.

Although we didn't rent a car, transportation was a breeze. With buses charging a mere 6 pesos, we had so much fun exploring Manzanillo. Would definately recommend the zip line booked at the Scuba Shack, well worth the money.

Hope to return some time soon!
