Why Rene Tuchscher chose Deserts

I bought this magnificent property for the serenity of the desert; for the overwhelmingly beautiful views; for the night sky and because I love mid-century architecture. Since the home is set on 15 acres, I know my privacy will always be protected. For now, I am choosing to rent my home but you can bet I will be there when it is available.

I hope you love this special place as much as I do.

Comfortable and inviting house for a group

  • 5 of 5

We are so glad we found this house. It was perfect for our extended family of two couples and two singles, with plenty of room to spread out and do our own things or sit together and chat. A binder chock-full of information about the house and the local area helped us to get oriented and plan our activities. A book collection helped to guide our hiking excursions and satisfy our curiosity about local geology. Hummingbirds came to dine on the flowering shrubs, and a coyote eyed us from a safe distance. Our group of young and old found plenty to do in the Borrego Springs area during our four days there: hikes for the vigorous, an off-road vehicle tour for the less vigorous, a day trip to the wildlife refuges and mud volcanos near the Salton Sea. The booking process was straightforward and the property manager responded quickly to questions.

Great holiday home with family and friends

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent Christmas week in this wonderful home with various family and friends coming and going (up to eight people at times). The house is exactly the way it looks in the pictures -- a large home with two separate wings on either side of the living room/kitchen. Our bedroom and bathroom felt completely private and, as best we know, all our guests were comfortable. There was plenty of extra bedding, towels, etc. to accommodate multiple guests. We never ran out of hot water for showers, enjoyed a well-equipped kitchen with plenty of dishes and glassware, and loved the large, wonderful wood-burning fireplace, great wifi and music system. The views are exceptional and we made interesting walks and bike rides right from the house. The property manager was very responsive to all our questions and we had no problems at all during our stay. We plan to return!

Annual hiking get-away with friends

  • 5 of 5

Three long-time friends and I rented this wonderful house for a week-long hiking trip to explore the Anza-Borrego desert area. The 4 bdr/3 bath house was a great fit for us. We all enjoyed the house so much, loved the great big open living/dining area and the very well equipped kitchen, and we cooked in or barbequed most evenings. Enjoyed watching movies in the TV room (available Netflix account is very nice touch). Wifi worked great, and we enjoyed plugging in to stereo to access playlists from our phones. We went for a star-gazing walk one night on the property, straight out the front door to the expansive desert. Loved sitting out on the patio every morning with coffee, listening to coyotes and watching the sunrise hit the mountains. The biggest treat was being on a large parcel of land on the outskirts of town - the views, the quiet, and the relative isolation was a wonderful get-away from everyday life. Good central location for heading to hikes throughout the surrounding state park, and pretty straight-forward drive up to the Julian area too. Quick and easy 5-mile trip into town for groceries, bank, gas. Property manager was very kind, helpful, and attentive. Excellent rental!

Big, Private, Fabulous view across the Valley!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful week at this home rental. Cycling camp for 6 adults. Perfect location. Well stocked with amenities and new appliances...especially the kitchen - which was great because we didn't go out to eat. Loved the mid-century modern vibe. Very clean and tidy! The long, unpaved driveway can be easy to miss from the road. Really enjoyed the quiet, desert sunrise and sunsets.

I spent time here with friends while we were in town for a class. This house is amazing, some of the best views in Borrego - open to the desert, very private, we felt like we were all alone with the coyotes. The patio was a perfect place to have meals. And we felt very well cared for, the owners had left bottled water, a full spice rack, coffee, hot chocolate, oil and vinegar, plastic wrap, all the things you need to cook and don't think or want to buy for a short rental. It was the best equipped house I have ever rented, and I have rented lots of houses through VRBO and AirB&B.

Outstanding place!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a wonderful month at this great house and property! The house is as advertised - a four bedroom house with a pretty living room and separate TV room with spectacular views. We sat out on the patio in the evenings and watched the moon rise over Font's Point and star-gazed until late at night. No where else have we seen the Milky Way so clearly! Truly astonishing! Our two 2 grown children with spouses and four grandchildren came to visit us from San Diego on the weekends and there was plenty of space for us all. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to make our meals and there was plenty of plates and glassware. The La Casa del Zorro Resort is just a short walk from the house where we could purchase a family day-use pass for the swimming pools and tennis courts - great for the grand kids on a warm Saturday afternoon. The grown-ups enjoyed the Fox Den bar patio!

The house is wonderfully quiet and private. We will definitely be back!
