Great place! It wasn't near anything else, which in retrospect we may have wanted to be more in town, but it wasn't too far from town and the apartment was wonderful.
Wonderful hideaway not far from downtown Bainbridge!
The photos do not do this property justice! The Woodland Retreat is designed with a skillful eye and attention to detail. Everything we needed and more. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

This place is perfect. The pictures do no do it justice. Clean, incredibly quiet, smells amazing, wonderfully appointed, and super responsive owners. Will definitely stay again on our next trip to Bainbridge Island. Thank you so much.
This is a beautiful property. You won't be disappointed if you like quiet and nature. The VRBO is beautifully decorated and spacious. Our hosts, Emily and Sam thought of everything to make it a 5-star experience. Will definitely recommend to our friends and family.

We planned on two days but could only stay one, unfortunately. This is not your ordinary “basement” apartment. Open, spacious, quality, lots of daylight. 5 or so minutes from downtown but hidden in a quiet area. If we’re in the area again, we’d definitely come back. Communication before, during, and after was great.
My husband, two children (10 and 7) and I stayed at Sam's place for a week over the 4th of July. We were visiting from Seattle so that the kids could spend the week at the famed Islandwood nature camp, and so we could enjoy holiday activities and island life. Sam's home was the best overall VRBO experience we've ever had- the quality of the home and attention to detail, the privacy and beauty, the value and opportunity to experience life in the woods just a short ferry ride from home. The beds were very comfortable- Sam set up an air mattress for the kids; there was cocoa pods and popcorn provided for movie night on the comfy couch; a splendid outdoor sitting area in the shade; toys and kid-friendly dishes; a nearby trail through a fern gully. For any Seattle family looking for an affordable and splendid getaway, this is the place!
This property pretty much has everything you would want or expect in a stay. The hosts are clearly very thoughtful in their decor and care. I would highly recommend this location.
Bainbridge is this green lush area with cute houses tucked away and this is the gem to be found. The very clear instructions on how to enter, make sure you pull on the door handle before putting in the code, to all the amazing amenities available. If we had time we would have extended another day.
We are a family of 4 with 2 kids under 3yo. Emily and Sam's place was above and beyond it's description. They have literally thought of every item you could possibly forget when traveling.
Approaching the rental, you definitely feel "out there" on a narrow dirt road, but soon you trust your Nav and find their place nestled into the surrounding landscape. Very remote, will need to drive everywhere - which we didn't mind.
The place was extremely clean, well lit, AC worked great!
My daughter enjoyed the kids toys / games - fantastic addition!
We definitely got our money's worth here and were very happy with our stay.
They grounds were very well manicured. The atmosphere of birds and the breeze is so calming. Then, the space provided is more than accommodating. Two bathrooms and a W/D, the tub was amazing. Worth the trip from Ohio!

Hi, we are Sam and Emily! When we aren't traveling, we call the island home. Our property is our little oasis and we are happy to share it and a little bit of the island's magic with you.
We love hiking, food, and exploring the San Juan Islands, so don't hesitate to reach out with questions or in search recommendations! We would be happy to help.
Why they chose this property
Bainbridge Island offers the unique feeling of being one with nature while still only being a 30 minute ferry ride from the city. We consider the island, and especially our property, as the best of both worlds with quick access to everything, while still being quite and peaceful.
What makes this property unique
Our home is located down a quiet country lane that is secluded, yet still only a 5-10 minute drive from all the amenities-restaurants, grocers, shops, parks, etc.
