About the property

2 bedroom house, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-9), with expansive views.

Our unique tri-story home is conveniently located 1 block uphill from the beach. A large bedroom is on the lower floor, with queen bed, and full, plus twin bunk beds; a second bedroom with queen size bed, plus a large kitchen and dining area are located on the middle floor, and a multipurpose room is on top, with deck access for outdoor cooking. All floors have many large windows that fill the house with light, fresh air, as desired, and panoramic views including Catalina, its hillsides, Avalon harbor, and the ocean beyond.

We hope you enjoy your stay on the island and in our home as much as we do.

About Marian

Catalina has been a part of my life, and held a special place in my heart since I came on vacations with my parents, as a child; I met my husband here after I graduated from college. We brought our children to my parents family cottage every summer, and as they grew to adulthood we were blessed to be able to acquire our own house. Here, we all now vacation with the fourth generation in our family, our grandchildren.

Lovely property and fit our family perfectly.

We were able to bring our extended family out to the island and all stay together! The kitchen was well prepared for cooking, and the table was big enough to play card on at night with 6. The beds were comfortable, and clean. Over all we are very pleased with the property and would recommend it to friends.

I would give this 5 stars, however there was a lot of cart noise from the street. The windows all slightly don’t close, and it made blocking the sound challenging. Lastly for the downside was the stairs. We are an active family so stairs are ok, but there is a finishing lip on every stair that narrows the step length, and make it impossible to get a normal sized foot comfortably on them.

Over all it was a great house, and quarks and all we would stay there again. Bonus, the owner was extremely nice and helpful.

Owner's Response: I appreciated this kind and thoughtful review. As mentioned previously, we are aware that the windows are a problem, and are now in the process of arranging to have them all replaced. If possible, this will be completed before the summer season.

Catalina ladies weekend

Spent Sept 14-18 in the amazing setting of Catalina! I am glad to read the house is getting some renovations as that was the only negative thing I would remark about. The house is in a great location, is a great value, the morning sunrises are incredible and we were quite comfortable. I would definitely like to return one day!

Great location and so much potential

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. This house is the great for the price. The location is good, just a steep one block up from the round-about. Granted we were at the end of the season, but the house could use some major TLC. The shape of the furniture, paint, & kitchen cabinets was a little disappointing. The biggest issue for us was the noise from the street. It was hot so windows (those that could be opened) were open. Loud golf carts and trucks at all hours.

That being said, the owner was a joy to work with. Very responsive and easy to reach. Even though we gave 3 stars, we would stay again just because it is reasonably priced, the location delivers, and the view from the very top floor is to die for.

Owner's Response: Now that the summer season has closed, we have begun some refurbishing of the house, beginning with new flooring and carpet, which was just completed. New windows are also in the plans, to help reduce street noise, and while present at the house, we will assess any other needs that have developed. I appreciate being made aware of all conditions that guests find need attention, and we will do our best to to address them.

Plenty of room. Great view of the harbor. Comfy beds & good showers. Location if a little noisy in the mornings from traffic. Over all great stay, we will be back again.

Disappointed

After all the positive reviews, we were excited to rent this home for a long weekend in Avalon. We were quite disappointed . It is very outdated, but I can deal with that. It was dirty, and many things in the home were broken. Window shades, closet door, curtain rod... all broken. One of the two TV's did not work. Dirty carpet. I did communicate these things with the owner, as she assured me that she will be giving these things attention. She is a very nice lady, and I enjoyed communicating with her prior to our stay. I would not stay here again. It is however in a good location, the beds were comfortable enough, and there is a view.

Owner's Response: In my previous email apologizing to our guest, I explained that this July was our busiest month of the year, and with groups staying literally back-to-back, it made assessing maintenance needs especially challenging. Cleanliness has always been a first priority, so we are addressing this complaint with serious attention. I mentioned, that the carpet has been cleaned regularly, but was a poor choice when installed several years ago, and never looks clean, so we have been planning to replace it, as well as the outdated windows in our house, when the season permits, and of course, blinds and curtain rods, at that time. We have a new t.v. now, the closet door has been put back on its runner, and the carpet cleaned, as of this date.

Great place to stay!

This house is very comfortable and perfect if you plan to hang out at Descanso and the dive park. Super close to town too! Even though it's a busy street, the house is quiet. Great ocean breeze flows through to keep you cool. Comfortable beds and nice bathrooms!! We will be staying here again for sure!
