Relaxing Time

  • 5 of 5

This is the past to get away and just relax. Close enough to the park and town, but not in the middle of it all. Well maintained cabin with everything we needed.

Wonderful cottage tucked away on a beautiful mountain. Wonderful, quiet, scenic place!

  • 5 of 5

This is a nice little cottage tucked away up on Storm Mountain. Although as was mentioned in other reviews the mountain drive up to the cabin is a little on the steep side it is totally worth it for the wonderful view from the deck of the cottage. Although some of the roads leading to the cottage are steep and not paved they are fairly well packed down and I drove up them fine in my little Ford Focus. I loved how quiet and tucked away the cabin was and it was a great place to marvel at the creation of our Heavenly Father!

The kitchen was fairly well stocked and we were grateful to be able to prepare our own meals and not have to go out to eat everyday. (I would encourage you to bring a can opener if you need one as we could not locate one in the cabin. This was okay as we found other innovative way to open a can without a can opener (:)

The cottage was well kept and the decorations were tasteful but not over done which was nice. The cabin is equipped with wifi. It's not the fastest wifi in the world but it is enough to get the job done and it is nice to have because you get zero cell reception on the mountain. There is a land line provided in the cabin as well in case of emergencies or the need to make outside calls.

The cottage is probably about 40 to 45 minutes from the entrance to RMNP Park (unless you drive the intense mountain curves like local then you may make it in less then that but that is not recommended (:) The drive is really beautiful and its nice to enjoy the scenery as you drive to the RMNP. The location is really ideal as it is far enough away from the tourist hotspots that it is quiet but it is not so far that it is hard to get the RMNP or Estes Park.

Julie was good to work with and gracious even when I made a scheduling mistake which caused us to have to leave the cabin later then we had originally planned. We truly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful mountain retreat and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to "unplug" from the busyness of life and get to a nice quite place in the mountains.

Beautiful, cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed at the Storm Mountain Retreat and our stay was absolutely amazing! The cabin was very clean and perfectly sized for the two of us. The scenery driving to the cabin as well as from the porch was breathtaking. We found everything we needed inside the cabin and enjoyed breakfast and dinners on the porch where we were visited by hummingbirds, mule deer, and even two turkeys. We can not say enough wonderful things about the cabin as well as its location to everything we wanted with hiking and local culture. We will definitely be coming back next year!

Fantastic Cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

My now fiancee and I (I proposed on the trip) loved this cabin! It was so cozy and clean!!! It was right next to RMNP and the view from the cabin was beautiful. We really enjoyed the collection of VHS tapes-so many great movies! There was also a convenient grill that we used. Definitely stalk up on food and water before you go as it is a fairly long drive from town. Above all, Julie was very responsive to all of our concerns!

Serenity on Storm Mountain

  • 5 of 5

My adult daughter and I visited from south/centralTexas to attend a family wedding. Instead of staying in the hotel, we decided to enhance our Colorado experience by booking this perfect, peaceful cabin. Everything I mention below is well explained in the VRBO/Homeway description. There were no surprises.

There is no cell service -- not only at the cabin, but just about all the way up the mountain -- so make sure you have a good car navigation system (or print out directions) and have the password and key box code written down. You won't be able to use Google Maps or Waze on your phone. This is part of what was endearing about the place! Going up or down the mountain after dark was scary like a Stephen King novel (!), but it was a fun adventure.

The cabin was exactly as described in the listing. One bedroom with a queen-size (?) bed. One bathroom with shower. Fully-equipped kitchen. Bring drinking water.

There is no television signal, cable or satellite dish. Just a whole bunch of old movies on VHS. The WiFi was spotty and slow. But we didn't go there to get broadband. Again, these are the things that make the cabin all the more endearing.

We hiked Devil's Backbone trail one day and saw wildlife and beautiful rock formations. The trail head is very near. It was challenging for me because of the altitude, but it was not a difficult trail.

The entire trip was wonderful. Thank you, Julie, for welcoming us to your cabin. :)
