I stayed in this unit for 1 week, and the only downsides were that there was no air conditioner (at least I didn't find one) and the patio was a bit small. But for the price, it was a GREAT location and value (on the beach!) and the woman who checked me in was a blast! I'd stay there again, though I might spring for the extra cost and a more direct ocean view.
We rented 2 units in this resort. The resort itself was very clean and the maintenance guy was very professional and courteous. As for the unit... My adult children and mother in law stayed in this unit as my wife, son and I stayed in another one. This unit definitely has some dated finishes that could be upgraded to make it more desirable. The location and views make it not as big of a deal for ocean front views of the sunset etc. The staff that checked us in were also wonderful to work with. Neither units we rented had AC, was not a big deal in January.
We stayed at this dump for 2 weeks. The photos on the Web site must have been taken 30 years ago, because this place CANNOT have been upgraded since then. The furniture, carpet, appliances, bathrooms, bedrooms, etc. are functional but completely run down and in poor shape. More importantly, the entire place was filthy. Where do I start? The master bedroom: the ceiling and ceiling fan were coated with a 1/4- to 1/2-inch layer of dust, none of the screens in this air-conditioning-less unit fit properly in the windows, the indoor/outdoor carpet hasn't been steam cleaned in many years, and the mattress had bedbugs. We stripped the filth-stained comforter from the bed before we would sleep in the bed. The master bathroom: run down and filthy with tens of tiny gnats--no doubt allowed in by the poorly fitting screens. The kitchen: full of tiny gnats and filthy. The guest bedroom and bathroom: more run down and just as filthy as the master bedroom and bathrooms. The old plastic bathroom shower curtain should have been replaced 10 years ago. On top of all of this, the noise levels from the street are unbelievably high--forget about sleeping past 4:20 a.m. due to the street noise. All of the parking spaces are incredibly narrow. The bottom line: you could not pay us to stay in this dump again. Mahalo.
