About Larry Braasch

My name is Larry Braasch. I'm a resident of Eagle River. I have years of experience designing homes and actually designed and built the Razorback Retreat.

Larry Braasch purchased this house in 2005

Why Larry Braasch chose Sayner

My parents bought the property in the 70's with a small 2 bedroom cottage on it. Winters were tough without running water so we decided to build a year round home.

What makes this house unique

Beautiful scenery, great fishing, kayaking, quiet location. Seated in the Northern Highlands State Forest only a hop, skip, and a jump away from Eagle River, Minoqua, and Boulder Junction.

The perfect place for a mid-winter family escape!

  • 5 of 5

This year marked our family's second escape to Razorback Retreat. This home truly is the perfect place for family gatherings. Situated in a quiet bay, there is little snow machine traffic to interrupt a fun fishing afternoon. We caught pike and walleye. The kids loved the great sledding hill, and we all warmed up at the cozy fireplace before sharing a hot meal at the kitchen table that seats ten! We will return again and again. Thank you so much!

Ideal location for celebrating family!

  • 5 of 5

Razorback Retreat was just what our family needed. Eight adults and two children fit very comfortably in this beautiful place. The fireplace room, with no TV and a fabulous view of the bay, brought us together for cards, coloring, and long conversations. The TV room downstairs had plenty of seating for us all to watch the Super Bowl. The open concept kitchen and dining room allowed us to gather together for meals. We loved the heated floors in the entry room downstairs when we came in from sledding, snowshoeing, and ice fishing. Peace, quiet, and an amazingly beautiful layout - we loved it, and we'll be back next year! Thank you!

Largest Cabin I Ever Saw

  • 5 of 5

This past week my three adult children and their spouses plus one college age granddaughter had a wonderful time at "The Cabin". It is well laid out and so roomy the people who need alone time could have it. We used the fire pit every night and it was super with the permanent seating. When the family left we had some friends who arrived. They enjoyed it as much as the family. We couldn't do the bonfire at night so did it at cocktail hour. Was great then too. We also enjoyed Marli's Pub and Grill in Sayner. Went there twice for dinners. Fishing wasn't the best but two of us each caught a bass measuring 18 - 20". It was the biggest fish I ever caught.

The cabin is exceptional regarding floor plan, cleanliness and furnishings plus Larry(the owner) is always there with an immediate response to all questions.

My daughter had a great description of the location. She said when you get to the middle of nowhere you aren't quite there yet. Go a little bit further and you will love it.

Northwoods vacation spot that is beautiful and makes you want to return!

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been most fortunate to stay three times at Razorback Retreat! This property is a delight in all respects. Booking is simple, Larry is so easy to work with and responds to questions in a very timely manner. Razorback Retreat is beautiful, and the pride taken in the construction of the home and in maintaining it is quite evident. One feels so at home from the moment you step in the door. We have had family and friends join us for a few days at a time and the home has been perfect for us - the fewest number of people staying was two and the most was nine. The kitchen is very well equipped, but supper clubs and restaurants in the area are many and wonderful! We generally enjoy a couple of grill nights, too! The setting of the home is such that you have a fabulous view of the bay and beyond. Sitting out on the deck or down at the dock is truly peaceful! We rent a pontoon boat but also have enjoyed using the row boat and paddle boat. A kayak and canoe are also available. We have found Razorback Lake to be quiet and serene, not full of jet skis and such. Fishing has yielded bluegill, smallmouth, northern, and walleye. Spotting loons, bald eagles, turtles, and families of ducks is a joy! While we've only stayed at the property during the summer, I met a family who rented during snowmobile season and they had a blast! We spend our days fishing, hiking, golfing, going to flea markets, bingo night, the local pub, antiquing, and just enjoying time together with family, grandchildren, and friends! We are already planning for our next trip!

Gorgeous Property !

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to begin the tradition of vacationing with our adult children and their spouses. The Razorback Retreat was the PERFECT place for that. The setting could not have been more beautiful, and the house was truly impressive. It was very clean, beautifully maintained, and well furnished. There were eight adults in our group, and we had more than enough space. We enjoyed our time together but were able to find some space for private time also. I cannot begin to find the words to express the beauty of this property. The floor to ceiling windows brought the outside in. The kitchen was huge and completely stocked for cooking. It was obvious that the owner takes great pride in his property and was available to help if needed. We spent the week at the lake canoeing, kayaking, boating, swimming, fishing and relaxing on the dock. The lake was gorgeous and so peaceful. It was awesome to watch the eagles soaring overhead; watching the looms, ducks, and deer, and listening to the bullfrogs sing their songs. We ended each day together at the fire pit. We had no complaints and our expectations were far exceeded. We hope to make The Razorback Retreat a summer tradition!
