Beautiful Custom Log Cabin - Majestic Mountain Views

Enjoy the peaceful, majestic, picturesque, views from our custom built log home, 'OWLS ROOST'.

'OWLS ROOST' offers a 180 degree panoramic view of Grandfather Mountain, Valle Crucis and a beautiful western sunset. Our home provides a warm and cozy setting for your enjoyment and relaxation.

'OWLS ROOST' is conveniently centrally located between Blowing Rock, Boone, and Banner Elk. It is also close to Linville, Sugar Mountain, and Beech Mountain.

Our home has two bedrooms on the first floor with queen beds and one full bath. The living room and dining room have vaulted ceilings and a large stone fireplace. The kitchen has all the amenities and is well stocked with all of the essential cooking utensils. The second floor has the master bedroom with a king bed and a full bath with a large jetted tub. The second floor also has a loft area with a sleeper sofa.

The lower level has a den, game room ( foosball, and and an arcade game over 50 games). The lower level den has twin beds, and a separate bedroom with a queen bed. The lower level contains a full bathroom as well as a washer and dryer.

The house is wired with Wi-FI.

The house offers two covered decks and a third open deck with a large Hot Tub.

'OWLS ROOST' is the perfect vacation get-away no matter what season. Experience four distinct seasons where you can enjoy: skiing, skating, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, shopping, fishing, rafting, and much much more.

Owl’s Roost Private and comfortable

If you want privacy and a beautiful, well appointed cabin at the top of a mountain, this is it! Bring your own linens, and stay for a while. We were sad to leave this hilltop oasis.

Celebration of Life for Terry Doherty

We visited to attend the Celebration of Life for my father Terry Doherty, who lived in Valle Crucis on Red Tailed Hawk Road, close to the cabin. My mother still lives there. All three of my sons (ages 24, 22, and 8) stayed with me, as well as cousins and friends. The cabin was perfect for us, and we really enjoyed it (especially the boys who played lots of games in the basement). The view was spectacular, similar to my parents house around the corner, but a little higher. We would definitely come back.

North Carolina family reunion

We had a wonderful time! The views were incredible. A view of Grandfather Mountain from the hot tub. The house was comfortable and very quiet. Plenty of comfortable bedding. Great family reunion house.

Vacation trip

Located at the top of a mountain. The drive up a little scary the first time but the house suited us perfectly. Grandkids downstairs was great for them and us. They loved hot tub. Kitchen had everything you needed. A bathroom on every floor worked great also. Would definitely stay there again

Beautiful mountain stay

Our three generation family group thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin is new and very well stocked with kitchen supplies and games, including a foosball table and arcade game. We took advantage of the hot tub and wood burning fireplace, too. Since we are Florida folks used to flat straight roads, we did the drive up the narrow, winding road before dark, but it was definitely worth it for the peaceful location with a gorgeous view.

Great Mountain Cabin

This was a great place to stay for families, or friend get togethers. Plenty of space and well stocked for cooking. Hot tub was great so were the views.

Comfortable and antiquey

Very comfortable, all necessary ingredients for a nice fire, though some smoke does come inside the house, should clean out chimney I suppose :-). Kitchen has everything you need, we cooked some. TV situation was very good, which was nice because it was so cold and windy when we were there.

Mountain Heaven

Beautiful mountain cabin. Could not have asked for a better place to relax. Wonderful view of Grandfather Mountain. Dear grazing in the yard while we drank our morning coffee. Well stocked kitchen. Close to everything. Just up the way from a beautiful city park with the Watauga river running through it. I remembered the door code wrong, sent an email to the owner and he called me within a few minutes to get me the code and answer any questions that I might have. I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Beautiful Cabin

We absolutely loved the cabin and all of the antique decor. Plenty of room for our family of 6 that stayed. The road to the cabin is a little scary because it's so steep (especially for us Floridians used to the flat roads LOL) and the cabin is at the very top! But that also adds to the amazing views...you may need AWD or 4x4 during snowy times. The kids had so much fun with the games.

Top Of The Mountain

This beautiful cabin at the top of a mountain in Valle Crucis delivered in every way for our family's December vacation. My wife and adult children loved the incredible views, the comfortable accommodations, the fireplace, hot tub, foosball, and even old-school arcade games. It's convenient to Banner Elk, Boone, and Blowing Rock. The host was helpful and quick to respond to all our questions prior to the trip. Of all our recent mountain rentals, this tops the list. We hope to make the Owl's Roost part of our annual tradition.

App State / ECU Game weekend getaway

Phenomenal views and fabulous mountain home! Wish we had stayed longer. We are use to the high country and this one was truly at the top of the mountain. The amenities were great and looking forward to a revisit soon!

August Wedding

We came to the area from Michigan for a wedding. It was our first time in North Carolina. It was beautiful. The house was perfect and everything was just as described in the description. They view of Grandfather Mountain was amazing from the porch. The owner was great to work with and was very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!

Quiet, private cottage

An excellent choice for your mountain vacation! The location was great - very private and nice views but still convenient to Boone and Blowing Rock. The cabin itself felt more like staying at someone's home. This was a strong plus for us, though judging by one or two of the other reviews some people prefer a more hotel-like experience. We particularly appreciated the hot tub on the deck and the gameroom downstairs. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing, and I would gladly choose this rental again in the future.

Family vacation

We enjoyed staying at owls roost. We had everything we needed. Game room was a nice touch, especially for the kids. The hot tub was also nice after a long day of walking. The drive up to the cabin had my 80 year old parents a little nervous, the first time, but they survived.

Nice cabin at the top

Myself and 6 friends came to ski at Beech and hangout for my birthday weekend. The cabin is at the top of the mountain, so very private, but a bit of a steep narrow drive. AWD/4WD recommend! Plenty of parking at the top for at least 4-6 cars. Check-in was easy- electronic lock. The cabin was comfortable — however a week before our stay, the owner sent a letter saying they would not be providing towels or sheets for the beds, and if we wanted them it would be an extra charge. I took off one star for this. We really enjoyed the hotub and huge fireplace, and the balcony and retro arcade were fun! It is about a 30 minute drive to Beech, and there are not really any grocery stores or restaurants nearby - so be prepared for that. Another thing to note would be the clutter —they have a cute owl theme going on, but there is so much furniture and knick-knacks in the house that there really isn’t space for luggage, and it’s a bit challenging to walk around. Overall, Owls Roost is a great getaway spot for a small group, and despite a few challenges, we really enjoyed our time there.

We are living is Greensboro and have been residing here for 43 years. We enjoy sharing our cabin in Valle Crucis and want others to relax and enjoy all the amenities that we provide. We like the close proximity of the house to the three towns (Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk).

Why they chose this property

We built our log cabin after numerous trips to the mountains. The scenery, weather, activities, and restaurants offered the perfect, restful, get-away for us. Our children loved the area and always found plenty of things to do.

What makes this property unique

We looked all over the mountains before deciding on where to purchase a lot. We were always pulled in the direction of Valle Crucis. The vintage setting and the close proximity to nearby towns was a major factor in our location pick.
