About the property

Family friendly homes with vineyard views for up to 24 people

Our rates are based on double occupancy (i.e. couples) for up to 18 persons with some shared bedrooms for larger groups. For groups of more than 9 up to 24 singles (i.e. 1 person per bed, multiple beds per room, shared bathrooms) there is a $500 single bed only occupancy supplement. Additional guests (including children of all ages) above the base 18 are extra.

The homes can sleep 24 overnight with shared bedrooms/baths and can host up to 12 additional day guests,(for a total of 36 on site during the day) for additional fees. The VRBO rate calculator does not always calculate larger groups and extra guest fees correctly. When using the rate calculator, please be sure to enter the total number of guests and in your email inquiry please specify whether couple, mixed or all single bed occupancy including the number of required beds and private bedrooms. We keep the VRBO calendar updated so please check our availability. It is always best to send a VRBO email request so we can work out scheduling and a budget according to your specific needs, whether it be family reunions, birthday and anniversary celebrations, corporate off-sites, overnight meetings, sporting events, wine tasting tours, or longer term retreats. Again, we are only able to host daytime events up to 36 adults (including overnight guests) on-site. Sorry we cannot host larger events, or weddings without special event permits from Sonoma County.

We give precedence to weekly bookings and larger groups and work to accommodate business groups of singles as well as families with varying needs. We will also consider discounts for last minute bookings that fill otherwise unreserved dates usually within a week of arrival.

Our Estate house is a very large, well-loved Mediterranean style family home with high ceilings, open floor-plan, galleries, courtyards, outdoor dining & living space. The home is perfect for hosting family reunions, business meetings, healing, educational, and fine art retreats and corporate off-sites. While the estate house is not a contemporary "Luxury" residence, it is expansive, warm and open with modest 1990s style finishes, quarry tile dining gallery and kitchen and carpeted bedrooms and alcoves. The main wing of the estate home features 2 private and 1 shared bedroom with multiple beds, 4+ bathrooms and a large dining gallery with family-style kitchen, a large gallery style interior, media room, wine & coffee bar. The home also has two 2 curtained sleeping alcoves furnished w/European style convertible sofas and three twin beds that are great for kids or singles. An additional bedroom and bath and convertibles are available in the art studio wing by request. The home is situated on a knoll overlooking bucolic vineyards, a large trellised pool, a private recreational lake used for boating, water skiing, paddling, canoeing and swimming; the Atascadero creek, and a vibrant wildlife and riparian habitat.

Our property is situated just 2 miles northwest of Sebastopol, minutes away from the towns of Graton, Santa Rosa, Occidental, North of Petaluma in the heart of world class organic cuisine, restaurants, wineries, farms, produce markets, & organic food producers. Access to the Sonoma coast beaches, Russian River, Sonoma wine Appellations, is minutes away and just 60 miles from SFO. Walking and cycling opportunities abound with many cycling events and tours passing the property directly. The Joe Rodota walking/biking trail is adjacent to the north vineyards.

The owner/managers reside on the property and are available by email prior to your stay. They will be available by phone during your stay should you have any issues or questions.

We can offer concierge services for groups and can assist with logistics, tours, meals, catering, and produce/alcohol shopping for a rate of $45/hr. Please don't hesitate to inquire when requesting your booking.

We had a great time this weekend. We loved everything about the home and the setting. It was truly perfect for our reunion. We had family members visiting from all over the US and other parts of the world. The rooms and kitchen were spacious and well appointed. There was always enough seating room for everyone. The kids (and grown ups) loved the pool and the grassy area outside the home. We unfortunately (or fortunately) didn't find the toys in the cabinet in the master bedroom until the day we were leaving. We appreciated the two pack n plays for the babies. We really didn't have to leave except for the grocery store. So thank you for helping us have a memorable time.

Thanks again. Hope to be back some day.

There is also a utility shower and half bath near the laundry facilities at the end of the house.

Our team of 23 enjoyed our second annual lab retreat to Gerald's lovely estate. The houses were stocked with everything our team needed for a fun and productive work off-site, and Gerald was very responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommend for anyone hosting a work event for up to 24 participants!

Owner's Response: We've hosted several groups from Stanford and again this retreat group was a joy to host. They took advantage of the habitat, even having swim relays and paddle boarding at the lake for team building and pure fun. They left the homes in good order. We look forward to hosting them again next year if not before!

Beautiful spacious retreat!

Our group loved this house so much! The pool was amazing. The house was well stocked. Beautiful dinign room table that all 15 of us sat at each night. The house and bedding is very comfortable, clean and nice.

Perfect wine country family retreat

We couldn't have written a better script or imagined a more bucolic setting for our long wine country weekend. The warm, inviting and spacious estate house and the retro 1950s farmhouse provided enough bedrooms for all the adults, teens and children, as well as spaces to gather, cook together and dine al fresco. The estate was well appointed and Sebastopol shopping, just minutes away, provided fresh organic produce, fruits, cheeses, salmon and grass fed meats from local farmers, producers and artisans. We picked blackberries by the pond, apples and pears in the orchard, swam in the solar heated pool, paddled on the private lake where we watched herons, egrets and osprey dine on fresh fish, and of course there was Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay tasting for the adults and an afternoon at the beach for the kids. Sonoma County Perfect!

Perfect family vacation

Really fabulous. The kids had a great time, maybe as much as the adults. The property is spectacular with so much to do. Play in the lake, walk around and pick berries, enjoy the pool, games, bbq, lounge around, whatever. The house is nice with tons of space and sleeping accommodations. Great location too. Just 5-10 minutes drive to town with local markets and great restaurants. To top it off, the owner is super nice and helpful.

Silver Anniversary Gathering and Getaway at the Bybee Estate!

Let me begin by saying there are very few properties which can successfully accommodate 18 houseguests and up to 18 additional day guests in either Napa or Sonoma Counties. Add to that a bucolic setting on an 80+ acre property, a well stocked kitchen and an open layout plan which could seat 34 guests for a special occasion (a belated Silver Anniversary.) Our hosts Shaun, Gerald and Sera were both helpful and attentive. The chef/caterer they recommended was a pleasure to work with. Although it rained on and off the three days we stayed at the property, we were able to use the hot tub and walk around the lake to stretch our legs. At first I thought signing a waiver when entering the property (for insurance purposes) would be offputting to our day guests, but everyone signed them. I look forward to experiencing the property earlier in the year to take full advantage of the pool and canoes/kayaks on the lake.

Exceptional Lab Retreat Location!

Our lab group of 18 (including professors, research assistants, and family members) had a fabulous weekend at the Bybee Estate! Sera took care of all our pre-arrival logistics (including providing a ton of spot-on recommendations about what to do in the local area), and Shaun handled our check-in and any questions we had on-site. I could go on and on about how helpful and accommodating they were for our group and our needs. Sera even decided to open up the private wing of the house to make sure we had enough space for the group -- this was so much appreciated! We particularly enjoyed taking the kayaks and SUPs out on the lake, using the grill for dinners al fresco, and playing in the pool/spa/ping pong table area. Everything you need to have an enjoyable weekend on a gorgeous property is there, and at a very affordable price for a large group! Thanks again Sera and Shaun for helping our lab have a relaxing and productive weekend.
