Carib Sands Calm Beach Pool Dock Snorkel Dive

Bedrooms 1
Space 700 sq. ft.
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Breakfast on the balcony is a lovely way to start the day at Bracaway! Watch the sunrise, enjoy your coffee. Perhaps a few frigate birds and boobies will be soaring by. Located on the south side lagoon, this condo has exceptional swimming and snorkeling..... or you can just lie in the sun on the beach or by the pool. The lagoon is sheltered from the waves and surf which may limit water activities in other areas during periods of rough seas. A large double deck dock (the only one on the island) is located on the property. We recommend a night snorkel trip under the dock for an exciting adventure! Across the road in front is an old mangrove pond where some interesting waterfowl can be seen. The owners live on the island and will be happy to furnish information about snorkeling and diving sites, caves, back wood trails and hikes, etc. Breakaway from the ordinary..... Bracaway offers true peace and tranquility not found in those over-crowded vacation spots. NEW! For those of you who can’t break away totally, there is now individual dedicated WIFI for this unit!!

Why Bonnie Scott Edwards chose West End

Love it here on the lagoon where the water is calm enough to swim or snorkel 350 days out of the year. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, entertainment, scuba, bird sanctuary. Cayman Brac is the friendliest island in the Caribbean and almost crime-free.

What makes this condo unique

Private WIFI. Private double-decker dock, beautiful pool, calm water, close enough to walk to the two American-European cuisine restaurants on the island and one native bar/restaurant, choice of two first class diving facilities almost next door, pick-up available from dock, shore diving also.

This beautiful apartment is a cool retreat after a day in the water and the sun. The price is right, the owners friendly and we look forward to coming back next year - even sooner if we can,

We stayed at Carib Sands 221 for 5 nights March 23-28, 2017. To start with we flew into Grand Cayman then a got on a puddle jumper for a 20-minute flight to Cayman Brac. Bonnie (the owner) met us at the airport where we picked up our rental car from B&S Car Rental. The car rental experience was the easiest I ever experienced, the agent met us at the airport, completed the paper work in the parking lot; she told us when we leave to fill it up with gas, park it at back at the airport and leave the keys on the floor. A bit different, we did that and it all worked out great; we will rent from them again. Anyway, Bonnie and her husband escorted us to the condo which took about 5 minutes; along the way they pointed out grocery and liquor stores.

The online photos of the condo are very accurate and all we needed was food and liquid refreshments. The condo was reasonably priced, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The view is beautiful, the pool was pretty much ours the entire time. You can go to the dock and watch the sunrise and travel 5 minutes west down the road and watch the sunset. There were many Tarpons that lived under the dock that were fun to watch and it was relaxing to lay in the hammock at the dock with a nice breeze.

We picked this unit because there is a barrier reef 100 yards from shore so that we could snorkel without being beat up by the waves. We are not divers and only wanted to relax, snorkel and explore the island. Bonnie arranged a free tour for us the next morning from the tourism department that lasted a couple of hours and it was very informative, we tipped them…it was there day off.

There is NOT a bad place to eat on the island, the restaurants always seem to be empty but they are busy because most people there call in takeout orders.

We did not go there for the night life and do not really know if there is any on the island. It is just a beautiful place to relax and there are chickens everywhere on the road, lol. We spent our mornings and evenings on the patio, explored, pool time, snorkel and just relaxed. It is NOT a commercial place with shops everywhere we struggled to find a souvenir shop, funny, finally found a tiny shop next to the grocery that is close to the airport.

Sorry for the late review, I thought that I had already posted it. We loved our stay there and would return.

Great stay on Cayman Brac

  • 5 of 5

Right from the start Bonnie and Gene made our stay wonderful. They picked us up at the airport, took us to the grocery and liquor stores and helped us get settled in. Bonnie responded quickly to all our emailed questions and arranged a delightful island tour for us. The condo is clean and comfortable with everything one needs. The pool is very nice and the dock is a great place to watch the eagle rays, stingrays, shark and tarpon. Cayman Brac is laid back with good restaurants and plenty of places to go snorkeling and exploring. Thanks again to Bonnie and Gene for helping us have a memorable week

Wonderful condo!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation on Cayman Brac and enjoyed staying in this awesome condominium. It was comfortable and surpassed all our expectations with extras like dedicated wifi. The kitchen was well stocked with all needed utensils and cookware and the staples and condiments were a pleasant surprise. The balcony was a great spot for meals with a beautiful view. Carib Sands is a nice complex with a great pool that we frequently had all to ourselves. Bonnie was a gracious hostess who met us at the airport to familiarize us with the location of the condo, grocery stores, restaurants and island attractions. She even emailed us during our stay to invite us to a turtle hatching release. It was the experience of a lifetime to see over 80 hatchlings rescued from Hurricane Earl instinctively rush to the ocean - Yaay Turtle Patrol. We enjoyed diving 3 days with Brac Scuba Shack and the dive boat conviently leaves from the condo complex's private pier. We hope that we can return and would love to stay in this condo again.

Relaxing with a view.

  • 5 of 5

We were met at Kirkconnell airport by the car rental people as well as Bonnie and her husband Gene. We followed them to Carib Sands and they showed us to their unit. We were pleasantly surprised because of the size, amenities and view we had from the balcony. Bonnie explained many different things about the Island and had a shore diving guide for our use. She was very helpful in telling us about the many things that we could do on the Island. She had us meet her friend and fellow conservationist to help dig up a turtle nest to count the eggs of those that hatched and to count those that didn't hatch. It was very interesting. She also told us about the free Island tour we could take. It was very informative and we did tip the young men that took us around. They were very proud of the Island. The condo is on the west end so it was near the airport, dive shops (Brac Scuba Shack and Reef Divers), food markets and several restaurants. I would highly recommend this condo not only because of the price, location and amenities, but because of Bonnie Scott and helpfulness with anything we asked. A very pleasant stay. Thank you Bonnie.

Perfect for snorkelling or relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I'm so happy I stayed here. I'm a hardcore snorkeler and the best snorkelling was just steps from the condo, which had everything you could possibly need, and the Captain's Table Restaurant right next door was fantastic. Bonnie and Gene are wonderful hosts, and when I needed to go to the emergency room for a surprise problem but didn't have a rental car, they most graciously took me. The unit was so comfortable and even in July it was pleasant to sit out on the balcony patio. The airport, shops, other restaurants and other snorkel spots are only minutes away. Next time, I will rent a car and check out other snorkel spots. (There are also bikes for rent but I didn't get a chance to try them since I was unexpectedly sick.) Brac Scuba Shack has a boat that is docked right by the condo, and it is super easy to book a snorkel seat with them when available and explore offshore sites.
