In your case, the booking was made for 2 guests, but 6 were present. This created a discrepancy that could have been avoided with an accurate booking. We kindly ask all guests to enter the correct number in their party when reserving — doing so ensures there are no surprises or additional fees later on and helps us better prepare the home for your stay. I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. I take full responsibility for not having the entry code activated, and I apologize for the distress this caused you. This was the first time this has ever happened, and unfortunately, I was asleep at 2 AM when you arrived. I offered you the option to cancel for a full refund, and I appreciate your understanding and decision to move forward with the booking. Regarding the neighbor's reaction, I can't confirm the details, but it's possible their concerns were due to the movement of cameras and attempts to open windows. I also noticed there were more guests than stated in the reservation. After our discussion, you assured me they wouldn't stay, but they did. Despite this, I decided to call it a wash and even bought you dinner to make up for the initial mistake. Again, I apologize for my oversight and the resulting issues, but it's important for all guests to follow house rules and be honest about their party size to avoid such situations in the future.

Christina, it’s unfortunate that you felt this way, but it seems there was a misunderstanding. Our concern was due to the number of guests, as it appeared the property was being used for others to stay and party, which goes against our policies. In hindsight, I should have canceled the reservation and asked your group to vacate. I cannot recommend you as a guest.

Thanks for your feedback. I want to clarify a few things for future guests: You mentioned not receiving the code before arrival. It was sent via VRBO messaging and text. Regardless, you were given access within 45 minutes of contacting me. You referenced buying $400 worth of groceries and then immediately brought up the temporary area-wide power outage. At no point did you state anything spoiled—and the outage wasn’t long enough for properly stored groceries to go bad. In fact, based on the condition of the kitchen after checkout, cooking clearly did take place. You never mentioned seeing roaches during your stay. Had you said something, it would have been addressed immediately. The “lack of blinds” complaint is misleading. The only uncovered window faces a fenced-in backyard—there are blinds everywhere else. No need for your “means”, to protect yourself. The neighborhood is a quiet, working-class area. The property is fenced and secured with a smart lock and deadbolt, both of which functioned properly during your stay. I’m glad you enjoyed the pool, but based on the tone of your review and the inconsistencies in it, I won’t be hosting you again.
