Overview

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 14)

This house is wonderful in all the seasons. It is a fall Steelhead fishing and deer hunting paradise as well as a summer fly fishing heaven as it sits perched on one of the best fishing holes on the Methow and surrounded by 5 acres of pasture, woods and riverfront. In the winter there is a wild sledding hill. In the summer, sunbath by the pool while viewing the mountains or jump in the river and float down on inner tubes to the town swimming hole. Hop in the hot tub after a day of skiing, hunting, fishing, biking and take in the spectacular view of the valley floor with the cascades in the backdrop and the Methow river 30 yards to the west.

This property faces west so it gets daylight and sunsets later than anywhere in the valley. The House shares 5 acres with another rental property of mine called Aliwood. VRBO #503768 . The combination of the two makes this a perfect compound for a family retreat or wedding. The house interior is rich with knotty pine walls, a huge stone hearth and views galore. all bedrooms have lodge pole furniture cozy duvets, and Ralph Lauren sheets. All the rooms afford views with the master having two porches from which to sip your morning coffee. The bunk room has six bunks, (but will have four after the remodel), all with colorful Pendelton blankets. This room has a door to a deck facing the river. The kitchen is new with modern amenities, a sub zero and a six burner cooks cooktop. There are indoor and outdoor dining spaces. The house is only 1.5 miles from Twisp, 7 miles from Winthrop , 25 mins from Mazama and Sun Mountain Lodge for groomed trails or 25 mins to Loop Loop for downhill. On the same property is my house, Aliwood, also with a pool and hot tub. .VRBO#503768. For large groups it makes for a nice compound. Yet separately they both have privacy. There is a massive lawn in between the two with a huge play structure for the kids.

Great space for families

  • 5 of 5

We stay in the Methow every year with a few families and it's hard to find spaces that work well. The Fishing Lodge has plenty of space, bunk beds for kids, a large kitchen, a great view, and probably the best hot tub in the valley.

The Fishing Lodge was Great!

  • 5 of 5

Our family, three generations, spent a week at the Fishing Lodge and had a wonderful time! The pool and hot tub were the main attractions for all. The grandkids are not old enough to take advantage of tubing on the river, but will be soon. The house was very clean and comfortable. The bunk room was a great hit! Room for all and to spare. Ali is most accommodating but not at all intrusive. Great lawns for toss games, fishing in the river, apples in the orchard, a fully outfitted kitchen, and wonderful views were some of the highlights. We toured the nearby smoke jumper base. Two of the boys plan to make that their career. Good shopping in Twisp and lots to see in Winthrop. Highly recommended.

Better than the rest

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed out in the valley a number of times and found that most all of the houses are similar: undistinguished ski lodges with very basic furnishings. This house is completely different. Great pool and hot tub, beautiful views, well decorated with a top line kitchen and nice beds. 3 steps above the rest.

Amazing Riverfront Home with private hot tub and pool!

  • 5 of 5

My family returned to Ali's Fishing lodge for a second time in August 2016 and the view was even better than we'd remembered!! We have been vacationing in Eastern Washington every summer for the past ten years (usually in Chelan/Manson), and nothing compares to this gorgeous and peaceful setting on the river. We were able to comfortably fit 10 adults (when all the grandparents came for a few nights) and 6 kids for our week long stay. We loved the warm weather, the beautiful surroundings and the fact that it is such a private setting is a huge plus!

The kids loved the pool, the hot tub, and jumping into and floating/swimming in the river. The bunk beds provide enough space for all the kids to rest at night and there are four other comfortable bedrooms as well. There is plenty of patio furniture for everyone to enjoy the beautiful setting outside. We played lots of games outside by the pool and we also ate most of our meals outside too. Ali was available and very accommodating for any questions we had. Ali went above and beyond, she even took her own time to meet us one day and lead us to one of her favorite swimming holes nearby.

Thank you Ali, for sharing your wonderful vacation home. We can't wait to return again!

Owner's Response: Thank you Mary, I hope you do return. I'll be better prepared this time with some mountaineering rope so we can safely repel down the cliffside to the swimming hole!

Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at the Fishing Lodge for a Memorial weekend getaway and LOVED every minute of it! The setting could not have better suited our needs. With 2 teenagers, 5 young kids, a set of grandparents and 5 more adults, our needs were varied. The fishing lodge was perfect. Lots of space for the kids to run around, a pool to lounge around for the teenagers and a well-equipped kitchen for large meals. The kids had a blast in the bunk room! And we loved that it was so close to both Twisp and Winthrop.

We really couldn't have asked for more.

Serves our winter group well, but has some maintenance issues from summer overuse.

  • 4 of 5

Our group of 10 has rented this lovely house on the same weekend for the last three years after moving from another local rental; we left there after 10 years of renting when the hot tub was inoperable for two years in a row. Kind of a bummer that the nightly rental price is the same for winter as for summer when the pool, clearly a major bonus, is unavailable. Prior to arriving we discussed with the owner our concerns from last year with the ice build up and snow berm blocking the walkway; unfortunately, ice forms from the roof overhang and the snowplow driver plowed the driveway to create a 3.5 foot high berm again, which completely blocked us from entering. There was a distinct smell of gasoline in the house, which the owner had mentioned before our arrival. We traced it to a gas leak in an ATV in the garage where the fumes were overpoweringly strong. The hot tub was cold because of missing heat blanket and broken foam cover. Some mouse poop and a dead mouse in a trap, but that's expected in the Methow Valley during the winter. So, before we unpacked we shoveled the walkway and spread ice melt pellets, opened the garage and house to air the fumes, covered and adjusted the heat on the hot tub, replaced over half a dozen burned out light bulbs, and re-heated the house. The oven door is still not closing correctly and this year we actually had problems with it coming up to temperature. After two years of eating dinner together in the dark my mother brought a chandelier, which we hung over the dining table and left in place for future renters. The housekeeping is a bit lax, having found a baby pacifier in the bed and a stray sock hidden under a rug. Our group is very resourceful and self-sufficient, so we overlook these small issues and plunge ahead with our vacation plans and this house is absolutely ideal for a large group. Everyone has the opportunity to be together or have time alone in the very nice bedrooms. Beds are comfortable and firm with no sagging. Love the washer and dryer. LOVE the fireplace! The sofa and chaise on the covered back patio are wonderful for sitting in the morning with hot coffee and watching the eagles and deer. Driveway easily accommodates several trucks and snowmobile trailers, and we all had a blast sledding down the driveway on plastic kiddie sleds after dark. Neighbors are friendly and helpful. Owner was available for any questions or concerns. In all, another great year at the Fishing Lodge and we are planning for 2017!
