So close but worlds away...

Be-at-Ease Cabin is a scenic 90 minute drive northeast from Minneapolis/St. Paul and is nestled in the woods of northwest Wisconsin, directly on the east shore of Bone Lake just 30 steps from the beach on a flat lot. Legend has it that Al Capone, John Dillinger, and other gangsters frequented the area when they wanted to “get away from it all”.

We call our cabin 'Be-at-Ease' because its made for easy living – a west-facing wooded, flat lot at lake level just steps from the water, knotty pine interior and north woods decor that bring the outdoors in, 4 comfortable bedrooms plus sleeper sofa provide sleeping room for up to 10 guests, spacious family room with entertainment center, GAME ROOM, 2½ bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, and OPTIONAL pontoon rental (see pontoon details below).

Be-at-Ease Cabin is the perfect place to escape - or work - with all the comforts of home and then some, and located in a rural area with excellent internet service over fiber optic cable! AND THERE'S MORE- take a break in the game room, a hike at Straight Lake State Park/the Ice Age Trail, or just cozy up to the fireplace and binge-watch Netflix!

And ahhhh the lake - at 1781 acres, Bone Lake is both beautiful and a premiere recreational lake with 12½ miles of shoreline, two islands, and a couple sand bars that serve as family-friendly gathering places.

A dock is in place and awaits your watercraft (docking fee applies, max of 2) OR rent our pontoon for an additional fee. Here are answers to frequently asked pontoon rental questions:
- Pontoon use is for experienced boaters only - you must have operated a boat previously
- Summer rate is $250/day for a very nice 22ft pontoon - see the pictures
- You may rent the pontoon boat for a minimum of 3 days and up to the length of your stay - rentals of 7 days or more get one free day!
- Partial-week rental falls at the end of your stay - if you rent the pontoon for 4 days and stay for 7 days, pontoon rental occurs the last 4 days of your stay.
- There are no refunds for inclement weather days.
- If interested in renting the pontoon, please indicate this in your inquiry/rental request.

Be-at-Ease provides views of Bone Lake from almost every room, with spectacular sunsets as it faces west. The flat lot provides easy access to the lake, with a shallow, sandy entrance for children who want to play at water's edge. And for the fishermen - Bone Lake is known as a prime Wisconsin fishery for muskie, largemouth bass, crappie, perch, northern pike, and bluegill.

Be-at-Ease is near Wilkins Bar for casual dining, with the towns of Luck, Balsam Lake, Amery, St. Croix Falls, Frederic, Turtle Lake, and Cumberland nearby for additional dining options.

Other area activities include 6 golf courses, Wild Mountain Recreation Area, Fawn-Doe-Rosa Wildlife Education Park, St. Croix Casino, hiking/biking trails (including the Gandy Dancer Trail), 5 state parks (Straight Lake Wilderness, Interstate State Park (including the amazing potholes), St. Croix Wild River, William O'Brien), Bunnycup Winery, Dancing Dragonfly Winery, Chateau St. Croix Winery, and the list goes on...

REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT: a refundable deposit to cover potential incidentals during your stay is due directly to the Homeowners at time of booking.

PONTOON BOAT available for guests to rent for an additional fee.

NOTE TO WINTER GUESTS - the driveway is plowed and drive-able, however an all-wheel/4-wheel drive vehicle is required to access the Cabin during snowy/icy weather.

Fun Summer Family CabinTime

Great place to gather with family at the lake. We had a group of nine ranging in ages 12-76. Comfortable setting for all to BBQ, fish, swim and enjoy the pontoon and the beautiful setting. Ate dinner at a nearby restaurant a short pontoon ride away. Highly recommend this place!

We had a wonderful stay at Be At Ease. It was perfect for our family of 6 that included a 3 year old. The cabin was spacious and very, very clean. The game room with extra fridge was great additional space. The flat lot was perfect for game time and access to the lake was easy off the dock. Our grandson loved splashing in the shallow water. He also caught lots of blue gills which he loved. Definitely rent the pontoon.

Truly at ease

We enjoyed the hospitality and responsiveness of our host. The cabin is nestled in the woods but a few steps away from the dock. Bone Lake is clear and clean with terrific fishing, which we enjoyed for dinner.

Terrific place that is far nicer than the photos. The living area is fabulous, the garage playroom is perfect for kids and adults, the pontoon is lots of fun, and the lake is just perfect. It is defiantly upscale, and not really rustic- more charming!

A perfect spot to take your older parents!

I booked this cabin stay to take my family and older in-laws. There are no stairs in the home and the lake is very accessible for those who need mostly zero entry access. The home was well stocked with all the essentials (bring your own beach towels). The lake was quiet during the week and the pontoon ran seamlessly. Thank you for opening your home to us!

This is a charming, beautifully well-kept lovely home on the lake. It had just the right amount of amenities, and we mostly loved the boat! It is a gorgeous pontoon, and we were on it every day! The home is comfortable and spacious, and all on one level… So no climbing steps for this 60+ year old group of women!😊 The beds and all of the furniture was comfortable and casual enough to kick back, relax and enjoy! Great Wisconsin lake house

Our family of five stayed at Be-at-ease for a week in August 2024 and had great relaxing time. All of the beds and bedrooms were very comfortable. We had unseasonably cool weather so we didn’t use the a/c but it seemed like the house was very well set up for warm weather. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the things you’d need to cook any meal. The game room provided a great place for the kids to entertain themselves when not out on the water. The lake is spectacular and was surprisingly quiet for the amount of homes and boats on the water. The cabin is exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing get-away and hope to return in coming years! Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay. The home was very clean and only steps from the lake. The home accommodated our family of 7 and was very accessible for my 87 year old mother. We greatly enjoyed the game room and the outdoor games along with the lake. The pontoon was a nice option to rent and we took pontoon rides daily. It is a wonderful home and we would stay again! Nice place, confusing/frustrating process

The place was beautiful and was perfect for our needs. However, the process to rent the place was frustrating. There was an expensive out of pocket (on top of the rental charge) deposit just to be approved to rent your stay which was unlike anything I’ve experienced. Also, when I asked the owner well in advance if we could check in early I was immediately denied with no explanation. After asking why, the owners stated there was a group leaving the day we were arriving. Which would be understandable considering cleaning would need to be done. I arrived to the lake at 8:00am check in day and had a clear view of the property and driveway. All day up until 4:30pm (check in time) not a soul moved in or out of that place. I would of liked to check in early to drop off luggage and groceries instead of taking it all on the ice with me.

4 beautiful bedrooms, 3 full baths, big living space and kitchen, pontoon boat on a pristine lake that’s empty most of the week. Very close to a nice resort with good food and live music on weekends. Bald Eagles and loons, and my wife saw a bear on her walk- Yikes! The best the Northwoods have to offer. Strongly recommended for any group!

Most Comfortable Cabin

We appreciated the comfort of this cabin with nice furniture and plenty of chairs for relaxation- Inside and out! The flat lawn and easy walk to the lake make it safe for elderly or those with mobility issues. The home is well stocked with towels, TP, kitchen items, 2 refrigerators, and very attractive decor. All areas in the home look new! We rented in a rainy humid spell and there was some issue with bedrooms getting hot and musty smelling when doors were shut but owners do supply the place with nice clean fans for use also. The new and huge patio doors were like bringing the lake into the Great Room! We enjoyed adding on the pontoon boat rental also. Thank you for a great stay!

Fun Family Weekend

We had a great stay at the Be-At-Ease cabin. The home was very clean, well equipped and was a great setup bedroom and bathroom-wise for our family weekend getaway. We also enjoyed renting the pontoon during our stay as well. There were more booking and house rules and requests that I have experienced with past VRBO rentals, but aside from that the rental was great and as described/pictured.

Great place for relaxation!

We are so glad we found this place. The owners were very nice people. The cabin was well kept and had lots to do. The game room is awesome and you can’t beat the view. We even finished our vacation with cabin olympics utilizing all the games, inside and out! We definitely want to come back soon.
