Why The Owner chose Carmel Valley

The Guest house is a 20 minute drive from the Monterey Peninsula airport. Just off Carmel Valley Road, it is exactly 10 miles from the intersection of Carmel Valley Road with California Highway 1. From the airport, however, the best approach is to drive east on California Highway 68 to Laureles Grade, turn right and go over the grade, which ends at Carmel Valley Road.

Very nice

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay! The owners are very hospitable and helpful. The place is well equipped and clean! The bed is way too soft for our preference but that is our only dislike of our stay and just a personal preference. Thank you for letting us stay and enjoy some time away!

Wonderful, clean, comfortable cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in Jae’s cottage for four nights during the Thanksgiving holiday. We were very pleased with the accommodations.

It was new, clean, comfortable with all the extra additions one needs for comfortable and convenient traveling. The setting is peaceful and serene.

Jae was more than welcoming. We will definitely stay here again!

Stayed here on a visit to Monterrey. we loved the accommodations. it's spacious, clean and modern. that bathroom is large and clean. the shower is amazing. the living room is spacious and the kitchenette has everything you need. the bed is comfortable. the area is quiet. you are on the main road, but you wouldn't know it.

Heat wave weekend

  • 3 of 5

Unfortunately, I've booked our stay here for Labor day weekend, when it was 110F in the Valley and there is no AC in the cottage.

Let me first say that owner greeted us as soon as we showed up at the property.

The cottage is nice, is separated from the house, and inside you can find absolutely everything that you need for a short stay.

The bathroom is brand new. pretty much state of the art, beautiful soft towels, and you have everything else in there like you are in the hotel.

The place was spotless, owners put a ball of fruit for us, there was cold water, and few more things in the fridge.

There is a hot tub that you can use, which of course was not even on our mind in that heat, and pool, which was unfortunately freezing, so we didn't use it.

When we arrived all the windows were open, so inside was exactly the same temperature like outside.

There is a tiny little fan, in the bedroom, and there is a machine which supposes to work like an AC when you add some water to it, but unfortunately, that thing didn't work at all, after hours of having it on.

We also ask for the wifi, and the owner told us "We have Comcast, so you know how it is, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't."

We thought that we can just connect to it, but unfortunately, he never offered to give us the password.

The bedroom is right next to the main road, so if you have windows open it gets really noisy.

We thought that it will cool off( after we closed all the windows) and that we will be able to sleep there, but unfortunatelly it didn't. The first night we managed to find a room through hotel tonight, and the second day, we went back to the cottage, thinking maybe it will be a bit cooler since we closed all did cool off a little bit, but it was still over 90F inside, so it was impossible to be there.

As much as this place is cute, and owners were really nice, this was absolutely not the place for us, no AC, no wifi and being able to hear cars passing all the time was not our ideal weekend getaway.

I will probably give 4 stars if were here on some other weekend when temperatures were normal, but we were unlucky with the weather, we paid for two days and we couldn't even sleep there.
