There is something about the mountains that says 'relax and enjoy the moment.' That is our motto. This is why we chose to name our cabin 'The Bearfoot Cabin' We love to kick off our shoes and relax. We also love black bears so we have decorated with this theme in mind.
The Bearfoot cabin is a two bedroom, one bath cottage situated on 2/3 of an acre. While staying here you can fall asleep to the relaxing sound of Lewis Creek, which is 30 feet from the back door and runs year round. Enjoy trout fishing or simply enjoy the beauty of the creek. The property is lined on either side with Giant Sequoia trees that are over 60 feet high. There are also numerous mature Cedar, Maple, Oak and apple trees. In the spring witness the bloom of daffodils and wild flowers growing on the property. The yard is frequented by deer, gray squirrels and various species of birds. Take a hike up the scenic Lewis Creek Trail that will lead you up to beautiful Corleiu Falls. The area is quiet and scenic through all the seasons.
Located within minutes is Yosemite National Park. There you can easily visit the Mariposa Grove, the historic village of Wawona, Yosemite Valley or Badger Pass Ski Resort. The cabin is also located just minutes from the Historic Sierra National Scenic Byway, offering easy access to historic sites, hiking, mountain biking, off-road vehicle trails/roads, and fishing. The quaint town of Oakhurst is a short drive away as are a local snow park, and the historic Sugar Pine Railroad. Bass Lake is also near by. There you may enjoy a picnic on the beach or take advantage of watersports like jet skiing and boating. These are just some of options for activities offered in this incredible area.

My family loves to go on adventures, camp, hike and vacation. I am a teacher so I love to use my time off to explore new places and spend time with my family. I live in Southern California. I have two daughters and a grandson and we enjoy being active and doing things together. I enjoy sharing my cabin with others and knowing they will enjoy the wonderful experiences that the area offers.
Kelly purchased this cabin in 2006
The cabin is my dream get away. I love the quiet beauty of the property and especially the creek. It is my happy place. I go there to relax and find peace in the beautiful surroundings.
My family and I enjoy hiking on the nearby trails. Whether we are sitting on the front porch looking at the mountains or hanging out in the back by the creek the views are awesome. We can fish in the creek or play and explore in it. There is a large swing out front that the kids like to play on. I like to just sit and relax with a glass of wine, life is good! We often drive into Yosemite park to visit the Mariposa grove, Wowona or the valley. When we go to the valley we always like to visit the beautiful historic Ahwahnee hotel and explore the village. Sometimes we go into oakhurst and check out the antique/thrift stores. Bass Lake is nearby and makes for a great day trip of swimming and sunning on the beach.
We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. It was unseasonably cold during our stay but they have a fireplace, portable heater and electric blankets to keep you warm! Even the bathroom has a heater to make winter baths comfortable. There is a lovely little creek that runs behind the cabin and drive to Yosemite is less than 30 mins!
The host was also quick to respond when we needed some help during the reservation. All in all a great experience.
Thanks for hosting us!
Absolutely lovely property! Great communication from the owner and manager. The property was well stocked, clean, easy to find, and full of the little things that make your stay better. Location was absolutely gorgeous and we had such fun splashing in the creek. Deer visited us every evening in the front! So easy to get into Yosemite, but plenty of walks and adventures just outside the cabin as well. Amazing value for money too. We want to go back!
Really nice cabin with plenty of room for 6. Lewis creek right out the back door which our kids enjoyed wading in. No AC but the cabin stays so cool all day after cool breezes come in during the night from the creek side (and we stayed during July and August 90+ degree days). The kitchen and bathroom are full of most everything you need for your stay...even extra condiments, salt, pepper, some spices. Extra soap and shampoo/conditioner if you forgot yours. Lots of DVD and videos...frankly didn't miss having cable because there were plenty of. Movie choices. Yosemite South Gate is close but takes about 30 min to get to because of twisty mountain roads. Yosemite valley is about an hour drive-once again because of twisty roads. However it seems like you can't get much closer to Yosemite unless you get into campgrounds or hotels that are actually in the park (and reservations for those can fill up months in advance!)
This is a fantastic place close to Yosemite. My brother and I were in need of a place for a couple nights while we did some hiking up in the park. It was clean, comfortable, and had a wonderful outdoor place to sit out back by a creek. We would stay here again if ever back in the area.
Quiet and so many beautiful trees! Even though there were other properties around, we really didn't see anyone - just the deer wandering around on and off all day. We love creeks, so we really enjoyed the creek that is at the edge of the back yard. We like to put our camping chairs right in the creek and listen to the gargles up close. The weather was cool, but having the wood burning stove made it very cozy. I looked at properties near all three entrances to Yosemite, and was very happy to find Bearfoot Cabin. It was close to Yosemite's south entrance, cozy, well equipped, quiet, woodsy, and economical. We plan on coming back
My husband and I stayed here for our first wedding anniversary. We had such an amazing time. The cabin was perfect! It felt like a home away from home. Everything we needed/ wanted was in the cabin! We loved falling asleep to the sound of the creek behind the cabin. The suggestions provided for activities to do in/around the cabin were spectacular. We went to Yosemite, rode the sugar pine logger train, went jet skiing on bass lake and enjoyed a beautiful hike behind the cabin up to a waterfall! It was the perfect trip for our first anniversary !
Our property is located on the Historic Lewis Creek, offering ample opportunities for activities and adventures. From trout fishing to wading, it is a wonderful feature.
