Welcome to our condo in Hawaii, we like to give everyone a well deserved and affordable vacation. This is a very private and newly renovated, top floor corner unit centrally located in Kailua-Kona, Big Island Hawaii. 350 days of sunny weather in a year with some of the best beaches in the world, all within a short distance.

Our condo complex Kona Shores is located just outside the busy part of Alii Dr. within 1 mile walking distance to the town centre and farmer's market. There is a ocean side pool with beautiful sunset and possible whale, dolphin sightings. Experienced snorkeler can also snorkel right at the shoreline of the condo, I always see lots interesting fish there. The common BBQ area is above the pool, the regular returning guest and longer term residents always hang out there socialize and watching the ocean.

Our condo offers a private and relaxing setting at top corner with cozy home feel, full kitchen, bath, queen size bed, WiFi and designated parking space. A great place to come back to after exploring what some of the amazing and diverse places the Big Island has for you to experience.

Description: Kitchen is all newly renovated with granite countertops, new cabinets and matching vanity set in a large bathroom with a waterfall faucet. Fully furnished top corner unit with a very private and tranquil setting. There is a Queen sized bed with Nova Gel Memory Foam mattress, additional leather sofa bed, 32 inch Samsung TV, DVD Player, cookware, rice cooker, coffee maker, kettle, dinner ware and cutleries for you to use. There are lots of novels, guide books, body board, and snorkeling gear left from previous guests. High speed internet is available. Coin operated laundry facility in complex. No Smoking and no pet allowed.

Cozy!

We enjoyed our stay. The unit was perfectly cozy! We were happy to see that they provided so much! We enjoyed coffee with the Geckos. Upon my research I found people complained about bugs, we didn't encounter a single bug. I think as long as you follow the steps to keep things cleaned and wiped down you won't have an issue. The unit was in a great location! A walk away from the busy main strip. We will definitely use the unit again in the future!

Very very relaxing holiday.No stress accomodations,clean,comfy,easy.A/C at night to cool off,open all windows in early am. Cool breezes.Even though property is very close to all amenities in town,quiet nights.Kona Shores well kept as well; laundry facilities were so very nice to have so close and very clean open to the outside. We never had a BBQ but the area was well thought out and cleaned daily.Used pool a few times in early evening,but beaches were our main focus,incredible snorkeling daily.Lounging in style with Tommy Bahama chairs provided by the condo,cooler, boogie boards,umbrella,snorkel gear all you could possibly need.Fast internet,great for catching up with friends and relatives,all the t.v. you need,sorry if your watching to much t.v. your not doing your vacation right.Kitchen stocked very well,easy food prep for breakfast, lunch, dinner.Spacious bathroom,nice shower for clean up.Bed was comfortable,made for some great sleeps.All in all one of the more relaxing vacations we’ve had in some time! Kona Shores condo

Advantages: lanai was roomy, there were beach mats, towels, cooler and other things for beach goers if you forgot something; cost, proximity to downtown Kona, internet and (important to partner) cable. Condo complex itself is quiet (obviously filled with residents, which helps) and the pool looking onto the ocean was lovely to sit at when the sun was going down or even later in the evening. On a very warm, humid day when the ocean was all churned up from a storm, it was nice to take a quick dip in the pool.

Downsides: a/c and standing fan didn't work in warm, humid weather; might want to check w/owners that they're working. Though screened with lovely trees, lanai is next to a designated smoking area located in the parking lot immediately next door at Sea Village (where I've also stayed). For anyone noise sensitive, the folks hanging out at the smoking area and talking (they linger a looooong time) combined with the proximity to Ali'i drive (esp on a Friday/Saturday night) can be a bit much. Especially when the a/c isn't working.

However, I had an ususual billing issue that led to some complications and Kim and Lake were so gracious about it. They responded VERY PROMPTLY to this and when I finally emailed about the a/c and fan issue (I waited to the end -- what are they going to be able do about the a/c in a few days??).

It was nice to sit on the lanai in the mornings for breakfast, which often attracted the notice of a local gecko (a very cute and curious thing). This studio was adequate to one's needs when you know you'll be out site seeing, swimming, etc most of the time. You have a dedicated parking spot. It's close enough to walk downtown, which is a nice option when you feel like having one more mai tai and don't have to drive.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your detailed review. We are sorry the cooling system broke down on you without us knowing. We have replaced it with brand new air condition unit and a new standing fan. It was installed in just few hours. We only wish you would let us know sooner rather than the last day, it would made your stay more enjoyable. We also loved watching and feeding the cute Geckos on the lanai :-) However for the years we stayed at the condo and from all other past guests with the other 60 reviews, no one ever complaint about the noise from next door at Sea Village. Recently there is construction at the Sea Village, there are increased noises from construction crews. We are neighboring the parking lot of Sea Village with plenty green foliage and trees in between. It is not a designated smoking area, as the area are all designated parking stalls. There are no benchs or chairs for people to sit on. There are definitely some normal sound can be heard from the parking lot, but it is not the norm to have people stay in the parking lot converse for long time unless the construction crew gathered there. Anyhow, with the new air condition unit, guests can close all windows and doors and enjoy peace and cool, we are sorry you couldn't do the same during your stay. Much Aloha and Mahalo.
