Overview

About the property

Farmhouse, 5 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-11)

Cape May County - Delaware Bay Country House is a classic large Victorian farmhouse that's situated on 38 acres of natural beauty, that includes garden areas, woodland, marsh and 400 feet of sandy beach along the Delaware Bay. The farmhouse, with its high ceilings, comfortable living areas, great fully equipped kitchen, and sizable bedrooms provides our guests with the perfect home (and garden) away from home. Our peaceful garden, with it's flowering trees, a variety of seating areas, tree swing and the ultimate in privacy is perfect for relaxing activities or just plain rest. The long tranquil walk along Gus's Beach Road (our private road) leads through the naturally wooded area on the property down to where it ends at the beach along the Delaware Bay. There is plenty of room for private on-site parking. There is an outdoor shower for use upon returning home from a swim. Our property is located within a 15 minute drive from Cape May, the Wildwoods and Stone Harbor. It's the perfect location for enjoying this seaside resort area, while still enjoying the privacy and charm of this special home. Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We just concluded our one week stay at the farmhouse, and it was amazing! The beauty of the grounds made it hard to even leave the home, and before we knew it, the week was up. Our children especially loved looking for wildlife and array of butterflies that frequent the array of foliage (when they weren't too busy with the kiddie pool). Lila and Steve are fantastic hosts, very friendly and attentive; they even let us know we could check in earlier (we were running behind ourselves though). We slept 7 adults and 4 children with ease and comfort. The split-system A/C was great for individuals' preferences. Between the bikes, boogie boards, sidewalk chalk, kitchen, linens, etc, Lila and Steve really thought of everything. Thanks so much for an amazing stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Joe! We so enjoyed watching you all enjoy yourselves! And we are very glad to hear you were comfortable... Your children are a delight! It is a pleasure to every once in a while find a way to facilitate an earlier check in... (not always possible) ;-) Yes, that air conditioning system was a good decision! We look forward to seeing you again - your family will always be as welcome as the flowers in May!!!

The perfect getaway to destress and just relax!

  • 5 of 5

Lila and Steve could not have been more lovely to deal with - even when things weren't perfect, the way they handled it was! The house is very well appointed and comfortable.

My dogs, family and I had a lovely stay at their home and hope that we can again soon!

Thank you Lila and Steve for sharing your home!

Beautiful property and farmhousee with private bay beach

  • 5 of 5

The Lamannas are the nicest people with the nicest home. Conveniently located for wildwood and cape may and local breweries. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed last week. Will absolutely be back.

Not serene

  • 2 of 5

This house is located right on route 47. The traffic noise is constant and loud enough to wake us at night. It made sitting outside in the garden extremely unpleasant. The bay is about 3/4 of a mile away.

Owner's Response: Most guests read our extensive listing information, send us emails re any questions, then move forward however is best for them. Very unfortunately this guest booked without question. It seems she didn't digest our information in order to determine for herself if our farmhouse would meet her needs. A vacation is a special time. We offer something unusual. Ours is not the normal run-of-the-mill vacation home. Not everyone is a good fit, not everyone will enjoy a romantic charming farmhouse where you can go out the back door, pass through a pretty garden, & then have a 3/4 mile walk through woodlands and marshlands, with the beautiful bay beach as the prize! Not everyone wishes to be away from the hustle & bustle of the ocean side, yet close enough to be able to enjoy the ocean & the various ocean side towns. Our guests, with the sole exception of this one, have expressed delight in the serenity, romance, & comfort of the farmhouse and its gardens. This is the first & only complaint we've received. We began to offer the farmhouse for holidays in 2009. Both the entrance to the farmhouse & the parking to the rear of the house, are situated away from the road, beyond our extensive buffer. This is all accessed by a short winding wooded drive, leaving the road behind! Any ambient sound from the road is much like the background sound of waves in a home fronting on the ocean. Our aim is for our guests to experience serenity while staying here. With the sole exception of this guest, it seems we have achieved this. I'll close with pertinent excerpts from reviews by a few other guests from the summer of 2017, as they express it best: "The beauty of the grounds made it hard to even leave the home, and before we knew it, the week was up...We slept 7 adults and 4 children with ease and comfort" and another "... our party of 10 was quite comfortable. Plenty of outdoor space and easy access to places of interest." And " The endless bedrooms made sleeping arrangements for 8 people effortless...Location was close to everything we needed and wanted. Hope to return to the farmhouse again." Also "The house was clean, beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed...the house is a very nice place for the family to enjoy a wonderful vacation." And lastly, "A wonderful week, at a beautiful home. And it truly felt like home. Lila and Steve are so sweet and attentive to everything you might need. We would absolutely love to stay here every year."

Charming Farmhouse that is able to accommodate a large group

  • 5 of 5

House was clean and well supplied inside and out and our party of 10 was quite comfortable. Plenty of outdoor space and easy access to areas of interest. Lila and Steve were excellent hosts. There was a heatwave the week of our stay and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Kitchen was well stocked and the barn had extra beach chairs, bikes and games if needed.

Owner's Response: So glad to read your nice review - that was an absolute HEAT WAVE!!! Times like that we wish, for the sake of our vacationing guests, that we had control over the outdoors temps... but we are very happy that you enjoyed the comfort of the air conditioning! Thank you! for coming to stay at the farmhouse and for your nice review!
