We send our guests information about area attractions, including nearby restaurants and grocery stores once the rental is paid in full.

Rome is a great small city with an amazing, vibrant downtown area for shopping and eating at unique restaurants. Rome has 3 universities/colleges and a huge medical community that is a hub for the surrounding counties in Georgia and Alabama for shopping, dining, education, and medicine. We also have more detailed local attraction information in each of the cabins for all the guests staying at the ranch. The nearest grocery store is Walmart/Sam's 20 minutes from the ranch.

We feel that the ranch speaks for itself on VRBO, so WE DO NOT OFFER TOURS OF THE PROPERTY.

Please note WE ONLY RENT OUT THE ENTIRE RANCH WITH THE FOUR CABINS AND NOT INDIVIDUAL CABINS. We require a two night minimum stay to use our facilities.

We are firm on the the 28 MAXIMUM GUESTS--NO EXCEPTIONS, No Pet Policy, the No Early Check-In's, No Late Check Out Policy, No ATV's, and No Hunting.

The Swimming Pool is best used from May to August. Guests can swim in the other months, and we've had guests swim in November and March when it's been 80 degrees as a high for days. NOTE: There is no pool heater. We found that the weather makes the difference in when guests swim and not the pool heater.

IN the JUNE and JULY months--we ONLY rent from SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. ABSOLUTELY NO WEDDINGS or large events over 28 guests.

We ask for a 2 night stay, minimum. You can pay by check to avoid the 3.1% fee and the VRBO fee.

About Laura Mumber

My husband and I have slowly added to the ranch to make it an ideal place for anyone to stay and enjoy nature, but have all the modern amenities.

Laura Mumber purchased this cabin in 1999

Why Laura Mumber chose Rome

We bought the property because it is close to where we live, but feels like we drove for hours once we get there because the beauty is unbelievable.

What makes this cabin unique

Our family enjoys swimming, hiking, playing on the Sport Court, golfing, picking blackberries in June, mountain blueberries in July, and a few apples in August. We love looking at the stars at night and the Milky Way clearly above our heads. Watching the sunrise over the pool, mountains, and the lake is one of our favorite family activities, as well as driving to the ridge to see the sun set over Lookout Mountain, GA.

Most activities not on sight are located in Rome less than 30 minutes away. All major activities can be found in Atlanta, Birmingham, or Chattanooga.

Awesome stay

  • 5 of 5

We held a retreat for a group of 10 from March 31-April 2, 2017. The ranch was absolutely gorgeous.. the pictures don't do it justice. The facilities were perfect for meals prepared by Kathy Patrick with Meals on Heels. The facilities were also perfect for small group sessions both inside and outside. Truly outstanding on all levels. Thanks for sharing your place.

Perfect place for a retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This is our group's third year at MSR for our fall retreat. It just gets better every year.

Perfect place for fellowship and contemplation. The vistas are great this time of year with all the different colors. The Ranch's accommodations are just right for 16-18 men.

Many of us enjoyed getting some exercise hiking to the sunset overlook and around the lake at the Recreational area.

And, of course, Saturday afternoon football in the Bear Cabin for most.

Thanks for making this such an easy and enjoyable place to retreat.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

The view, the lodging, the accommodation in every detail possible exceeded our expectations. We entered a warm place with so many charms, that we rapidly felt at home and drawn to the surrounding beautiful nature . Great views at sunrise of mist caught over lake, stargazing in pm, relaxing by the pool or playing games near fire.it all worked out perfectly with our 20 guests but could have largely accommodated more. Kitchen are well equipped , large supply of towels in bathrooms, pretty much everything you need or more...did not want to leave. Everyone wants to make it a tradition to meet there!

We had a wonderful time.

  • 5 of 5

The cabins were great. We loved the view and enjoyed the pool. We had trouble with the lights in the pool and the outside lights staying on but didn't stop the fun. Would love to go back again in the future.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Lisa, for wanting to come back to the ranch. The pool lights get changed once a year, but because they are from an older technology, they tend to burn out before the scheduled maintenance. I am sorry the security light did not work. It worked last weekend. I will look into that. Please come back to the ranch any time. Laura

beautiful property! Definitely a "retreat'

  • 5 of 5

I hold retreats for yoga students at Many Streams, and it has become my students favorite place to go. It is far enough away we feel like we are getting away, but close enough for emergencies at home. I have been holding retreats here for a number of years and it has always been an awesome experience. Thanks!
