This is a beautiful, very private home sitting on 3 acres on the beach. The sunsets are spectacular, and the view from the deck is the ocean and Niihau. A short walk and you're on a gorgeous beach where you can watch surfers at the popular surf spot, Infinity, also known as Pakala.

If you are looking for a place where you can just rest and relax, this is it! Besides the 2 spacious bedrooms & baths, there is a fully-equipped kitchen, living room and family room. A table that seats six is on the deck where you can enjoy meals outdoors.

There are many boat tours of the Na Pali coastline nearby and the road to Waimea Canyon and Kalalau Lookout are just minutes away as well. We are descendants of the Sinclair/Robinson family who arrived in 1864 and purchased the island of Niihau from King Kamehameha V. The land where this house sits and all the surrounding lands, the ahupua'a of Makaweli, was purchased from Victoria Kamamalu, granddaughter of King Kamehameha I, a few years later. We offer a taste of Old Hawai'i here in Makaweli.

Awesome stay

AC in the bedrooms, perfect location for everything from surfing/snorkeling/scuba to hiking up in the state parks. Lots of lizards but to be expected, kids loved.

Incredible property on the beach!

Amazing yard and beach, sea turtles playing at the shoreline and surfing spot right off shore. Comfortable beds for 4. Property management checked up on us during the tsunami warning and were easy to work with. This is an old country house, so if you need spotless and modern you might not like it. But it worked for us. The porch has an incredible view and the downstairs neighbors were not even noticeable.

However, the house itself leaves a lot to be desired. It has high-end appliances, but the bathrooms are so old. The deck is amazing but the kitchen cabinets and drawers barely open. The bedrooms have airconditioners but the furniture arrangement means that you are not looking at the view.

An Oceanfront Home in a Park-like Setting

The property is wonderful with the ocean just a steps away from this very comfortable home. All the living space is on the second floor as is normal for oceanfront properties. The local property management company, Kauai Vacation Rentals & Real Estate, was great to work with and very responsive. There is traffic noise from the adjacent highway, but that did not detract from a very enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

There is easy beach access right behind the house, and it’s located in a quiet area. The beach is public, so there is a lot of foot traffic. The house is comfortable, with all the basic amenities. The bbq needs work, and the kitchen doesn’t have basic stocked items. You’ll need to bring salt, cooking oil, coffee filters, etc to make cooking easier.

They are also very accessible and friendly and go out of their way to spread aloha to their clients. MahaloOur only issue was that the gas BBQ was very dirty, rusted out and worked poorly to the point of being unusable.

Directions got us to the driveway, but after getting in the gate we went in and were at a terrible looking house that greeted us with many dogs and cats. We realized we were at the wrong house. After calling the emergency number we found out that there was a faint drive to the right. Went that way to find our rental. But the memory of the other place followed us all week. The cupboards in the house are completely worn out. Both kitchen and bathrooms needed updated. They do not look like the photos. The mattresses were cheap and uncomfortable. The pillows were even worse. We could see what looked like a nice mattress in the lower level of the house that was blocked off. House had a musty smell. There were holes on the window screens, and the windows could also use an update. Something was wrong with the fridge door. One side had to be closed first or it wouldn’t close. Glass top put on the table was hazardous. Don’t think it belonged there. Kept walking into it. It’s bigger than the actual table but glass so you can’t see it. Porch was nice. Outside was painted nicely. Flooring of house are new and well done. Windows were clean. Appliances were new and worked well but we didn’t want to put dishes in cupboards. Suggest adding a keurig coffee pot. The bathrooms needed a serious update. The fixtures had not been clean in a long time. The tubs were stained. We just thought the place had a 1940/1950 vibe- that’s the last time a serious update was done.

Beachfront property

We arrived at the property 2 minutes before 3pm and the code didn't work. I called the management company, and they explained that the code will only work at 3pm. They are very nice and accommodating for any questions or problems. The grounds are beautiful and totally entertained us with the array of creatures such as lizards, birds, wild pigs, etc. The walk to the beautiful beach and spectacular sunsets is about 45 seconds. The entry to the property is difficult and I missed it most of the time. That probably needs better signage and lighting. The location has been perfect for us. We came to visit my nephew, and he lives in Waimea, 5 minutes away. We saw him every day. Driving to North shore was a wonderful (but slow) drive with lots of great scenery. The house has everything you need. We cooked and BBQ'd. Lots of room for the 4 of us which included a 7-year-old. Definitely worth the stay. Thank you!

The town of Waimea is only 3-minute drive away where you will find groceries, restaurants, and the entrance to Waimea Canyon.The house is fully supplied with a great kitchen, 2 living rooms, 2 full baths and 2 bedrooms. Linens and towels are first rate, and the beds are very comfortable. The house was very clean.It all makes for a great and private getaway.

Perfect Gorgeous Location!

First the positives: it’s incredibly beautiful- the house is on a large piece of land that leads to the ocean. The sunsets are unforgettable. This is not a beach for swimming - at least while we were there in November. It’s great to walk on and watch the surfers and listen to the waves. The house itself is very large and roomy. There is a binder with clear instructions on trash, emergencies, local beaches etc. There’s enough dishes to entertain a large group - well stocked kitchen with gadgets and appliances. The beds were fairly comfortable. Can’t speak to the pullouts as we didn’t use those. This is a two story - but you’re renting the top floor. We never saw anyone on the bottom floor - not sure if there is anyone in there. Very quiet and peaceful at night. Amazingly even the roosters are quiet at night. We loved the geckos that came out at night. Beware the enormous wild pigs that occasionally show up a bit after sundown. The cons - it was surprisingly dirty, with many cupboards dusty and covered in cobwebs. The sugar ants are everywhere and it didn’t look like anyone had changed the traps in quite some time. Also the enormous red ants that would occasionally visit the beds in the guest room were no fun. The cockroaches in the pantry were a shock as well. Mildew on shower curtains & broken fixtures & back door lock. Could use a sprucing up & a good cleaning. I’m not generally a picky person and rare to complain but this was an expensive place, so I expected better care.

Absolutely loved this stay! Felt like island life and very secluded from the touristy spots. Quick access to what is basically a private beach. AC units were clutch on the warm nights.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Everything was great except for the Keawe thorns that are in the yard when it gets mowed.Maybe they mow the lawn they could pickup the keawe branches.Thank you letting us checkin early.
