Marsha Waugh purchased this house in 2010
Jody grew up in Durango and always wanted to live in the mountains. After spending their honeymoon in the San Juan mountains, Jody and Marsha dreamed of having a place to share with family and friends. This spot is within an hour of many of the area's attractions. Our newly built home lets you experience life in the mountains with all the comforts of home at the end of the day.
With year round access, our guests can enjoy travel any time of the year. The cozy home allows you a place of refuge along with all the modern amenities. Our guests love the antiques and art that are displayed in the house. It is wonderful to sit on the sofa and watch the sunrises, and sunsets on Mt. Sneffles. The deck is a great place to relax, read, or eat. Seasonally, we watch the deer and elk stroll through the property. Hawks and other birds fly overhead. During the summer months, hummingbirds dart around stopping to drink from the seasonal wildflowers.
We had a wonderful stay at Marsha's house which is located in a beautiful location.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Sneffels Retreat. The house is spacious and cozy, even with temps in the single digits during our visit. Marsha the owner had even decorated for Christmas which made it feel like home even more. There is an awesome sled hill right next to the property that we used daily. We would and have recommended this place to all our friends. Can't wait to go back..
We live in Denver and have a very energetic toddler, so wanted to find someplace close enough to make travel relatively easy while still 'feeling' like we adults were getting a good escape from our day-to-day grind. We are so lucky to have found Sneffles Retreat, it was absolutely perfect!
The nearby towns are ideal for day-tripping, both with plenty of activities. Ridgway is precious, with a great park to play at, fun shops and a few restaurants. We accidentally discovered that they have a great Labor Day parade too! And Ouray is stunning! We visited the Hot Springs Pool, played on the town playground and looked at the mining equipment, and even completed the Perimiter Hike (split between two days), a great way to 'earn' refreshments afterward at the Ouray brewery. Can't wait to visit again!!
The cabin itself is thoughtfully furnished with just the right supplies. We were perfectly comfortable in nice beds and comfortable lounging couches and seats. Plus our toddler loved the stash of toys that the owners left out for playing. The kitchen is also very well equipped, a nice plus since we love to cook!
A perfectly quiet, picturesque escape. We'd love to visit again.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Sneffels Retreat. The The house was clean, comfortable and had all of the amenities we needed. We especially enjoyed the spectacular views from the house and deck. The house is in a truly beautiful location with many views and things to do near by.
Overall, the house is very clean and furnishings are much nicer than you see in a rental. Vies from the house are beautiful. We like the location...felt remote, but could be in Ridgway in 10 minutes and Ouray in 20 min or so.
We plan on staying there again!
We stayed for 3 nights and it felt like home! The deck off the living area provided a wonderful outside space were we observed the gorgeous mountain range, hummingbirds and deer! The accommodations were very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. There was solitude but we were not isolated, the neieghbors were a comfortable distant from each other. We highly recommend the Sneffels retreat and would stay there again!
