This awesome little vacation rental in Mission Beach has an ocean view from the living room. The front patio is located steps to the sand and the boardwalk. The location really couldn't be better! It is positioned in the heart of Mission Beach, a gorgeous beach community. Ideal for a small family who wants to enjoy all Mission Beach has to offer. We supply you with beach towels, beach chairs, and boogie boards! Dedicated parking spot for a compact car.

Janet & Scott are your hosts. We are a husband and wife team and we live nearby. We own and operate Mission Beach Villas, a highly rated vacation rental management business in San Diego.

We are available 7 am to 10 pm to answer questions during your stay.

Our storefront rental office, Mission Beach Villas, is a few blocks away, so if you need anything feel free to stop by! If you have an early flight, you may stow your luggage at our office so you can go to lunch or hang out on the beach until check-in time. And if you have an afternoon flight on checkout day you may also stow luggage. Just coordinate these details with us and we are happy to accommodate. Please note, we charge a small nominal fee for luggage storage.

Before your stay, we are happy to suggest our favorite restaurants, and tourist attractions and will help you get acquainted with the area.

Mission Beach is a super narrow strip of land between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay. Walk in either direction (West or East) and you'll encounter pristine white beaches. Both sides have wide boardwalks for bicycle riding or walking. On the bay-side you'll enjoy a relaxing sail bay with a calm atmosphere, while on the ocean-side you'll enjoy ocean waves for surfing and a lively beach scene. Either way, you'll call it paradise. We simply call it home!

The best thing about the neighborhood is that there is so much within walking distance that you really don't need a car. You could just take a taxi from the airport (6 miles away), get dropped off here and you're at the beach! We have local restaurants, trendy beach bars, excellent coffee spots, and breakfasts cafes all within a few short blocks. Sea World is just 3 miles away.

- Outdoor Activities -
Recreational opportunities abound! It is within walking distance to Santa Clara point where there are numerous recreation activities and rentals available including: stand up paddle boards, kayaks, jet skis, windsurfing, catamarans, sail boats, water ski boats, and even jet packs. There are group classes and private lessons available in all of these activities. What's more there are free yoga classes on the beach each day at the end of our court.

There are affordable surf lessons offered daily on the beach by our friends at Surfari Surf School. What's more, we can point you to all the best surf spots in San Diego County.

We offer self-check in with access to a digital door lock to make your arrival as easy as possible.

Your parking spot is very small and will fit a compact or subcompact car. If your car extends over the red line you will need to park on the street.

- No car needed -
If you choose not to bring a car you will be totally fine here! Many of our guests come without a car and get around quite easily! The beach is a 2-minute walk away with restaurants, shops, and convenience stores all within walking distance.

For those who are renting a car, you will need to select a compact or sub-compact car, as the assigned parking spot is EXTREMELY small. Otherwise you will need to park on the street and be mindful of street sweeping signs. (In Mission Beach, street sweeping occurs on Mission Blvd on Mon, Tues, Thurs, & Fridays 8-10 am except holidays on opposite sides of the street.)

Uber/Lyft options are readily available for local transport at an affordable rate.

It is a 15 minute walk to Belmont Park where there is a giant roller coaster, rides, restaurants, bars, and shops.

- Bikes -
Riding bikes along the boardwalk is usually the most scenic way to get around and take in the atmosphere. We provide a 15% discount for bikes located at Cheap Rentals. They rent by the hour, day, or the week. They also rent surfboards, wetsuits, standup paddle boards and a lot of other fun beach equipment.

- Bus -
There is a bus stop a few yards away that travels down Mission Blvd and will take you to Old Town in minutes. At Old Town there is a major transportation hub where you can transfer to any other bus line or transfer to the Trolley (San Diego's metro line) which will take you downtown.

We believe in full transparency so please review these disclaimers before booking:

Due to insurance reasons, the person booking must be at least 25 years old to book and must upload a photo of government ID to the host within 24 hours of booking. We reserve the right to request the first and last names of all members of the group as well as ID’s prior to supplying door code. Due to local laws, stays of longer than 30 days or longer must sign a rental agreement within 48 hours of booking.

Please note that we have occupancy based pricing in our settings. Please select the correct number of people in your group at the time of booking to get the correct pricing for your stay. Keep in mind, if you add more people to your group after booking the rate may adjust slightly. There is an additional charge of $30 per night for each additional person after the initial 4 people. This keeps our rates low and affordable for our average group size for this listing and helps us charge an appropriate fee for the additional linens and utilities used by a larger group size. Thank you for understanding.

We love children and want you to know that they are more than welcome as our guests. This means that children of any age, even infants, are counted as guests in your guest count. Please let us know in advance the ages of all children.

Please be aware that the assigned parking spot is VERY small. The parking in back of the house needs to fit two vehicles, yours is on the RIGHT side and the one on the left is for the unit on the second floor. (Please only park in the spot on the RIGHT.) If you are renting a car, you will wish to select a compact or subcompact car. If your car is midsize or larger you will need to park on the street and be mindful of street sweeping signs. (In Mission Beach, street sweeping occurs on Mission Blvd on Mon, Tues, Thurs, & Fridays 8-10 am except holidays. There is no street sweeping on Strandway.)

We include portable AC units in each of the two bedrooms for comfortable sleeping. When you first arrive, the fastest way to cool off the apartment is to open the windows and the front door and run the ceiling fans to push the hot air out. With the windows open there is a nice sea breeze that will usually keep the place pretty cool.

A small futon is offered which makes into a bed but it is quite firm and not recommended as a comfortable sleeping option. (It might work for kids or teenagers who are easy going about the firmness of a their mattress.)

Should you want to rent bikes there is a bike rental shop a few block away. (They also rent kid-sized bikes and baby seats if you need those too.)

We can connect you with a service that will set up a private bonfire on the beach. Includes set up and take down, portable steel fire drum, roasting sticks, hot dogs, and s'mores. A perfect activity while waiting for the nightly summer Sea World fireworks over the bay. Inquire for details.

Want family pictures on the beach? What better backdrop for a group shot than the stunning backdrop of the ocean or bay at sunset! For an extra fee we can arrange for a local portrait photographer to do a photo session of your family on the beach. Let us know in advanced if you're interested and we can make an appointment with the photographer during your stay.

The unit is thoroughly cleaned between each stay. However if you wish for a cleaning and change of linens during your stay we can arrange for the housekeeper to come for an additional charge of the standard cleaning fee. Please give us one day's notice so we can get this scheduled.
