About the Property

3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, Sleeps 6+ With Sweeping Views of Penobscot Bay.

Off the beaten path nestled along the banks of the historic Penobscot Bay, a sunny, tranquil home offers room to gather with loved ones for renewal and relaxation. You’ll know you’ve arrived at Fort Point Cove Cottage when you catch your breath at the scenery upon entering the home. The back of the cottage features an expansive view of the river as it flows into the bay, where all manner of wildlife may be observed if one knows how to look. Here is a place to enjoy quality time with all the amenities of home as you experience the rare beauty of Maine. Fort Point Cove Cottage is the kind of place to practice the fine art of human “BE-ing.” Treat yourself to time in a tranquil vacation retreat that is private and charismatic, yet close to all the attractions that make mid-coast Maine renowned........Life is Good!

This cottage features 2 full bedrooms with a 3rd open loft bedroom, all furnished with new high quality luxury mattresses. Vaulted ceilings with an open great room below; the center of the home houses a grand open brick fireplace with wood burning stove to keep you warm on those cool summer nights. Galley kitchen fully stocked along with a Keurig coffee maker that provides everyone's favorite brew. Poll barn provides covered outdoor grilling/dining with a spectacular water/mountain view.

Area Attractions: Stockton Springs houses its own lighthouse located in nearby Fort Point State Park, has its own local beaches and is centrally located along the coast -- 40 miles to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Mt. Desert Island, and Stonnington; 30 miles to Bangor, Bluehill, Ellsworth, Islesboro and the popular destination of Camden Hills noted for its quant shopping village and where mountain meets sea; 40 miles south to the Rockland/Rockport area and Thomaston where you can shop at the Maine State Prison Store featuring its beautiful wood furniture and crafts handmade by the inmates. We are just a hop and a skip to Bucksport featuring Fort Knox and the beautiful Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Winterport for its quaint village with its winery and brewery, Searsport with its 8 miles of antique shopping while featuring 'Museum in the Streets' with its Maritime Museum and nearby Moose Point State Park and Belfast for its quaint shops, galleries and co-op. We are 70 miles north of Boothbay Harbor and Wiscasset; 95 miles north of Freeport. Wiscasset is the home of Maine's voted best lobster roll at 'Red's Eats' and Freeport houses LL Bean -- two must stops on your way up the coast! Finally, for the adventurous at heart, DownEast Maine encompasses a rugged coastline and blueberry barrens. Points of interest include Rogue Bluffs State Park and Machias 85 miles north of Stockton Springs and Eastport, Lubec and Campobello Island, NB Canada are 120 miles north. West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine is the easternmost point of the contiguous United States and the closest point to Europe from a point in the fifty States. Head Harbour Lighthouse (East Quoddy) on Campobello Island, NB overlooks Quoddy Narrows, a strait between Canada and the United States. Campobello Island is noted for its beautiful Roosevelt Campobello International Park which serves as a memorial to FDR and a symbol of cooperation between Canada and the U.S. The Park houses the Roosevelt Family Summer Cottage along with eight miles of trails leading along rugged shoreline, bogs, and forests. Make sure to bring your passport.

Many of the Carriage Paths at Acadia National Park are also open for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 2012

About the owner: My husband and I grew up and reside in Bucks County Pennsylvania. We have been vacationing in Maine for over 20 years and have established close ties and friendship to its people. I am a registered nurse working as a research coordinator for Penn Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital. My husband is a machinist.

Why the Owner Chose Stockton Springs, ME, USA:
I cannot express the openness and peacefulness one experiences while staying in the Fort Point Cove Cottage. Stockton Springs houses its own lighthouse located in nearby Fort Point State Park, has its own local beaches and is centrally located along the coast: 40 miles to Ellsworth, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Blue Hill and Rockland/Rockport area; 25 miles to Bangor and Camden Hills; and just a hop and a skip to Belfast, known for its wonderful shops and restaurants, Bucksport featuring Fort Knox and the beautiful Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Winterport for its brewery and winery and Searsport with its 8 miles of antique shopping, its Maritime Museum and Moose Point State Park.
