Absolutely beautiful and relaxing!
As first timers to Maine, my family and I were looking for a nice, relaxing place to stay. Lucky for us, we stumbled across this beautiful property. We enjoyed cool mornings on the back deck, watching the sunrise while overlooking the water. Our visit was in the fall, so we were fortunate enough to see the leaves, which were absolutely breathtaking! One morning we awoke to find a flock of 14 wild turkeys in the back yard, which was really cool! Being from Florida, another neat thing to mention was the wild apples growing everywhere. The kids thought it was the neatest thing to walk down the road and find apples. It was hard to keep them out of the apple trees! The property owner, Darlene, was wonderful. Darlene called to make sure we made it to the house okay and suggested a couple of places to eat when asked. The house was well stocked and cozy. I would absolutely recommend this rental to anyone looking to relax.
Wow! Thank you, what a wonderful review! Interesting to learn that the children enjoyed climbing the apple trees; the simple things in life that Maine is noted for. And, our large family of wild turkeys keeps growing every year! Come back and visit us again, our door is always open!
Rest and Rejuvenation on the Bay.
What a beautiful home to rest, rejuvenate and call home base while seeing the beautiful views in Maine. The first breath-taking view is out the windows at sunrise on the bay. So close to many lighthouses and Acadia National Park. Short drives to quaint little towns. Just a beautiful spot to put down your anchor. Our hostess was most attentive, making sure we were happy with our home away from home.
Beautiful and relaxing
The house is beautiful and the setting is perfect. If you are looking for a quiet get away with a perfect view and within 30 minutes to everything you need then this is your place
We love the kitchen - perfect for cooking lobsters and steamers from Youngs! Great place for our family to gather and relax.
Our experience was superb. We had a water heater glitch on our 1st day. A quick text to Darlene, and it was resolved before we returned to the house in the evening. The house is well appointed with everything one needs. Very cozy and clean. Loved having the windows open at night and adding a beautiful extra quilt! The location was perfect. 2 hr drive to Acadia, minutes from state parks and beautiful coastal towns. We hope to be back in 2018.
Thank you for your wonderful review and your understanding about our water heater glitch.....so thankful for the awesome crew in place. I am happy to hear that you all had a wonderful time and great weather dispite all the hurricane threats. Our door is always open....hope you find your way back to our cove.
Comfortable home for vacation
Tranquility on Penobscot Bay was just that TRANQUIL. The home is near the water and the view is beautiful. The back of the house is all glass and the sun rises on that side which makes it warm and welcoming. The location is fantastic we spent the days exploring many areas Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Bangor and Camden all are only a short drive away.
We met many locals on our visit all were very nice and welcoming and offered helpful hints on where to go and what to do. I love to mingle with locals!
We only spent 4 days here and will probably return to see the areas we missed. We spent the evenings in the yard with a fire burning and watching the sunset. This was a very exciting but restful vacation.
I am so glad to hear that you both enjoyed yourselfs here in Stockton Springs. Hope you find your way back to our little tranquil Cove....our door is always open!
Great vacation getaway
The Fort Point Cove Cottage was an excellent place to stay. My wife and I have rented numerous houses and condos and this house was one of the best. Everything in the house was very clean. We had everything needed to make our week comfortable including a well- stocked kitchen staples and kitchenware. We enjoyed being outside and this house met our outdoor needs. The yard was large and well maintained, the deck was great for early morning and late afternoons views of the bay; and the open space was great playing frisbee with the dogs. Then there was the enclosed porch for the mid-day sun with a cool breeze; we often ate our meals there and observed occasional hummingbirds. Then to top the day off, we enjoyed warmth of the fire pit as we watched the stars.
I have been traveling in Maine for many years, but never spent any time in Stockton Springs. This is a great location; it is a short drive to Belfast, and there are many nearby areas to walk and boat. Sears Island is a real gem of a reserve. You can walk at low tide around portions of the perimeter or walk inland on a road or trails. On the midweek days, we only saw 2 or 3 other walkers.
Also, if you like kayaking, Stockton Springs Harbor is only a 10-minute car ride and a great put-in spot.
Wow, thank you for this outstanding review and the additional information that will help future guests become acquainted with the Stockton Springs area. Sure hope you find your way back to the cove.
