About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6) Detached studio with 3/4 bath sleeps 2

Beautiful modern mountain cabin with all high end amenities INSIDE the Santa Fe National forest.

Summer and Winter wonderland!

The home is all on one level - no stairs of any kind (except the exterior stairs down to the hutub) King bed in the master and two queen beds in the guest rooms - all plush pillow top beds with very comfy sheets and down comforters.

Awesome master bath with giant cast iron tub, perfect for two if you don't feel like sitting in the hot tub :-)

Fully stocked kitchen with a Viking range and everything you will need.

Extreme privacy - this is one of the only properties like this in the Santa Fe area - a true mountain paradise get away, yet so close to town with a mountain creek that winds through the forest.

Out door enthusiasts will love it here, bring your mountain bikes in the summer and your cross country ski's in the winter, ski right out the front door!

Since we are located in the national forest hikers will love it here. There are great trails within walking distance or by a short drive - another reason to have an SUV so its easier to get up into the forest past the cabin.

The home has ample deck and patio space overlooking the creek and hot tub, perfect for out door entertaining.

Birders will love it up here! We have great birds all year around but especially in the summer when the hummingbirds are everywhere.

Cool temps in the summer when downtown is hot!

Encantado resort is right down the road for world class dining and spa services.

There is a 2 mile dirt road to the property and the last 1/2 mile can be very bumpy and it can get muddy or snowy depending on the weather. I would recommend an SUV or higher clearance vehicle for the summer months to make travel on the road more comfortable. In the winter a four wheel drive SUV or truck is mandatory because we are in the mountains and there will be snow - see the pictures.

So if you are looking for a place to truly relax and be surrounded by nature yet be close to all that Santa Fe has to offer please consider us!

Pets are allowed for a fee, please discuss with me first.

About Brian Bodei

My name is Brian and I have lived in this paradise for over 17 years and now its time to share.

Brian Bodei purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Brian Bodei chose Santa Fe County

This is the only location thats this close to Santa Fe, inside the national forest, on a stream that affords total privacy and high quality of living. I feel so blessed to have been able to live up here all these years. I can never get over how beautiful Pacheco Canyon is!

What makes this cabin unique

This home was designed by and award winning designer - no boring architecture here. The home was planned to feel like the outdoors and indoors were one, and I truly think we succeeded. Sitting by the creek, watching the humming birds, having margaritas on the deck - or in the hot tub. Mountain biking and skiing right out the front door - endless miles of hiking and exploring, watching the birds - it never gets old! The only problem with staying up here is that you will not want to leave....Santa whaa?

Wonderful mountain retreat close to Santa Fe!

VRBO Bear stayed here

Apr 26, 2012

The Bear had a very hard time leaving this wonderful mountain retreat inside the Santa Fe National Forest! Thoughtfully appointed and extremely relaxing, the property made it hard to even want to venture the short ride to downtown Santa Fe – we could have spent our entire stay at the property and been completely content. We enjoyed wonderful hikes, relaxing soaks in the hot tub, incredible woodland views from the many windows, and restful slumber in the comfortable beds. All day (and night, when we chose to open the windows) we were serenaded by the pleasant babbling sound of the front yard brook – so incredibly peaceful. The very thoughtful owner had all sorts of guide books and hiking maps ready for our stay, and an extremely well-appointed kitchen to make meal prep a breeze. There are great local restaurants a short drive away, dramatic showings of hummingbirds, and a luxurious steam shower to ease away any aches from a busy day of hiking or sightseeing. Three bedrooms make this a great choice for a family or multiple couples. There were even friendly neighbor dogs that came to visit the Bear and offered to accompany us on a daily hike. We are already ready for another visit to Tesuque mountain cabin!

peaceful escape

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful property, clean and well kept. Instantly relaxing when you get there. The master bedroom is beautiful, opening up on the mountain stream, and I have not slept so well in months. My wife, kids, and I enjoyed the canyon tremendously and went for daily hikes, sat by the stream, and enjoyed the "cabin" (more like a well appointed home). Brian was awesome, super helpful, and always available. A beautiful, peaceful place to stay.

Still Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This is the 5th time to stay at this amazing cabin. We enjoyed a little over a week, some with family and some just my wife and I, for our anniversary. We enjoy the cozy rooms and the hot tub, on the creek, is a treat. Brian always checks on us to make sure we don't need anything. Hiking up the forest road, right outside the cabin, is energizing and relaxing at the same time. Beautiful mountain views!

I could never think of one negative thing to say about our stays at this cabin! If you want to get away and relax, play games, and enjoy the beautiful scenery and birds, this is the place!

Thanks so much....

Well appointed, peaceful home in secluded National Forest

  • 5 of 5

This home was everything we anticipated & required for a family vacation the week before Christmas. It is exactly as the description & pictures represented, unusual for a lot of rentals. Brian, the owner, was easy to work with & had thought of everything we might need. All the kitchen staples were there, firewood, towels, & plenty of bedding. There is a regular coffee pot as well as a Keurig. We enjoyed feeding the beautiful bluebirds every morning that gathered for their breakfast. The creek was serene & we felt as if we were in a gorgeous, large treehouse in the forest. We skied Santa Fe every day which was a trek for us but worth it. We only ate out one night & made dinner the other nights in the amazing kitchen with Viking stove. The road was pretty rough the last mile but we came prepared with 4 wheel drive & didn’t have any issues. Just know it’s going to be very bumpy but definitely doable. There’s only one other residence past the house on this road so it felt very private & secluded. We used the whole house & the little cabin next to it so there was a ton of room for all of us, including 2 dogs. The hot tub was very clean & relaxing. We were even surprised by some unpredicted snow, making our surroundings even more beautiful. Everything was absolutely perfect & I highly recommend this amazing cabin.

Gorgeous luxury cabin in the wilderness.

  • 5 of 5

Brian was a great host- available and attentive but gave us privacy to enjoy the space. Cabin was stocked with everything we needed and close to some great hiking trails. As other reviews state, the dirt road that leads to the cabin has seen better days, but nothing an SUV can’t handle if you drive slow. We pretended we were skiing and going over moguls :) Will definitely be back!

Cabin exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for a girls' trip. We altered our itinerary because didn't want to leave the cabin! It's far more impressive than the photos capture. The cabin is well stocked with nice appliances, comfy beds & linens & firewood. Brian is easily accessible by phone to offer recommendations. Don't be swayed by the dirt road. It's not too rough at all. We took advice from Brian & other reviewers & rented an SUV. The cabin is beautifully designed for the property. It's a short distance from town & hiking trails. So glad we selected this cabin instead of other rentals in or near town!
