Perfect quiet location

Beautiful home in a beautiful area. Perfect for a small family that just wants to spend time together on the beach. The home is great, with tons of charm. The front porch is amazing during a thunderstorm! Previous reviews mentioned bugs, but we saw nothing in the week we were there.

Great house and location, one problem

This is a wonderful house for a family or few friends to stay. I used it for myself only and had friend visit and stay overnight. Otherwise it’s really too much house for one person but I’d rent it again because I loved it that much. I do need to share that I had the same issue as a previous reviewer with the roaches. I was fine for the first few days but then suddenly I had a bunch of roaches in the house. I used to live in Florida so I’m not shocked, I know how it is here and I’m assuming that perhaps yard maintenance day may have stirred them and they came in due to that. Regardless, I contacted the office and they sent someone out that day and no more issues after that. So just be aware you are in a great house in a lush yard and might want to request pest control proactively when the yard is being maintained (?) just my theory on why it happened. Again, I’d stay here again in a heartbeat and have already recommended to friends and family. Great house. No beach towels or salt/pepper/sugar/coffee filters like other VRBOs FYI (I think because managed by realtor) just a heads up to bring that stuff.

Wonderful stay

We really enjoyed the location of the property. It’s a very quiet street and just a short walk to the beach and restaurants and shopping. We will definitely return!

I would come back here in a minute.

We came to Captiva for my daughters 16th birthday and it exceeded our expectations. The captiva Hampton was perfect for us. Only a 2 minute walk to the beautiful beach and village. Janine from Royal Shell was amazing and went above and beyond to make our family feel welcomed.

Convenient

Property is very convenient to Captiva restaurants and shopping. Home was quaint and exactly how you’d expect an island cottage to look, however, I did think it could have been cleaner and in overall better condition. Me and my mother only stayed in the unit for 3 nights because we were moved to another property after we came home from dinner and startled an animal inside the master bathroom. I had heard scratching noises during the night from inside master closet but tried to dismiss the noises as something else. Long story short, it was a big hassle and we virtually lost a day of our vacation waiting and packing and moving to another unit.

Adorable and comfy

I would probably give this cottage 3.5 if that was an option. The location was perfect, right in the middle of the island and an easy bike ride to anywhere. It was very well equipped and furnished well, but my husband was put off by a stain on the couch and a very bad odor in the twin bedroom. The king bed was comfortable but we found quite a few roaches in the master bathroom. Eek! A very easy walk to the beach, my son loved the bunnies and we felt very safe. Royal Shell made check in and check out very easy. They may want to upgrade some of the beach supplies available to renters of the cottage.
