About Dave and Vicki Moffatt
Vicki and I live in Austin Texas and personally renovated a great deal of the interior and rear decking. I'm a Boston native and she's a Texan-so we have an interesting time figuring out each other's accents! I work in the leadership development field and Vicki taught private voice and is now retired. Visiting the cabin 3-4 times a year to stay and vacation/work is one of our favorite things to do. Vicki is a highly creative and hard-working renovation 'hobbyist', and this cabin has been one of her favorite projects. Me-I'm the janitor and handyman. We don't have any kids, but we do have two dogs and a cat. One of the reasons we chose this cabin is the fenced yard and deck which allows dogs to have some roaming area.
Dave and Vicki Moffatt purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Dave and Vicki Moffatt chose Cloudcroft
When I first moved out west from Boston I ended up in New Mexico, and used to ride my motorcycle up into Cloudcroft. I promised myself I would one day buy a cabin in the Sacramento Mountains, and finally did it! New Mexico is a special place for us-my Mom and niece live in Las Cruces. Cloudcroft is a perfect getaway for us because it's so small and relatively undeveloped (compared to nearby Ruidoso). Getting up to the mountains is something we plan for and anticipate all year.
What makes this Cabin unique
The deck did it for us-looks out at the mountains and a wonderful view of the meadows. It's surrounded and protected by huge pine trees that provide great shade for reading. We just installed a high-efficiency woodstove that just about heats the whole place in the winter. And it's great for dogs, especially the smaller breeds. The deck is up high and the railings are fenced so dogs can't slip through. This is a unique cabin-we get lots of repeat vacationers who say they love the place. The kitchen is fully stocked and great for preparing meals-the breakfast nook is a great place to drink coffee and look at the forest. Plus, there's a finished play room below the deck with an electric fireplace and a small pool table, TV and PlayStation-great place to stash the kids or getaway to do some quiet reading. What we love about this place is it's out of town by just 7 miles, hidden on a hillside with a dirt packed road, so it's a super quiet area. Feels like we have it all to ourselves, and there is lots of walking!

Seemingly pricey for 2 nights.
I know the add ons Home Away has plus this new pricing scheme of giving a per night low price but then add in many fees. Since when is cleaning fee not part of the price. Yes this was all told ahead of time so it's not really deceitful. But as consumers we seek out price per night, and when cleaning fees are added on (not cheap at all), it seems kind of fishy. The unit was all that it claimed. Kitchen very well equiped, and it is very pet friendly. The instructions were to take garbage to dumpsters. Nothing given about where those dumpsters are. The cabin needs some TLC like latches for pet yard gates and blower on wood stove was not functional. And at the price charged, the TVs were very small for tired eyes. They do have a good cable setup but both TVs had pictures under 20 inches. For less than they charged for 2 nights they could upgrade at least one TV to an affordable 32". The picture shown shows a much larger TV than what it had. Not the fault of the cabin but the road noise from the HWY disrupts the serenity the area is known for.
Hi Debra, We're disappointed the tv's weren't to your liking, we haven't changed our tv's since our online photographs. And you're correct, all pricing is advertised before making reservations and since we don't live in Cloudcroft we do have a cleaning crew that comes in to clean our cabins to make them comfortable for our guests. Cloudcroft is a beautiful place to visit and we try to make our cabins a great experience for our guest travelers. Vicki Moffatt

Great place to relax and enjoy life!
My wife and I had a great experience at Teddy Cloud. If you are planning a trip to Cloudcroft we recommend this cabin. Surrounded by beautiful trees and amazing views of the night sky. I really enjoyed sitting on the porch and listening to the elk call to each other across the valley. Thank you for making this cabin available for us to enjoy!
Cute, clean and conveniently located. Great outdoor lighting and well outfitted. Very comfortable.
Thank you Beverley, We appreciate the great review! Please come back when you can.
Teddy Cloud Excels in Every Way!
We stayed in Teddy Cloud in August, 2017 and in August, 2018. Both of our stays exceeded our expectations. Teddy Cloud is like a warm homey hug! The kitchen is the largest and best equipped of any rental we have stayed in. The large deck is delightful to have coffee on in the morning and cocktails & dinner on in the evening. The beds are new and very comfortable, and everything you need for an enjoyable stay is provided. The owners, Dave & Vicki Moffatt are very responsive and anticipate your every need! The yard is fenced for our dogs, and they had a great time in the cool mountain air. The cabin is conveniently located in a friendly neighborhood about 8 miles east of the delightful town of Cloudcroft. There are miles of roads to walk in the neighborhood, and many miles of trails to hike in the vicinity of Cloudcroft. Teddy Cloud is absolutely wonderful!!! Thank you Vicki and Dave! We will be back!
Jan and Bill, You've written a wonderful review for Teddy Cloud, thank you so much. You're wonderful guests to have and so helpful in every way. You've even made a few improvements to Teddy Cloud ! Thank you so much and we love that you enjoy staying and hope you'll make it a regular thing. Thank you for your kindness and generosity as well, we've enjoyed getting to know you. Cozy mountain retreat
We enjoyed our stay at Teddy Cloud and appreciated the effort the owner and staff made to get us into the house early over the Memorial Day Holiday. The home is a short drive to town. The house is very pet friendly with a gated porch and a dog run area which my two small dogs appreciated. The home was comfortable, very clean and had everything we needed.
We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Teddy Cloud! We love hearing that. Please come back again! Dave and Vicki Moffatt

Kids will enjoy Zenith Park and the nearby Toy Train Depot, with model trains and a museum, while the whole family can take advantage of ice-skating at The Village, tennis at Frazer Courts, several hiking trails, and skiing at Ski Cloudcroft. Cloudcroft Light Opera Company offers entertainment beyond the karaoke at the Western.
Last, don’t miss the Sacramento Mountains Museum & Pioneer Village, where the story of the first settlers here and Cloudcroft’s development since are portrayed. View the village, exhibits, chapel and general store for a feel of the area’s past in the present.
