While driving up the pristine beach from the end of the paved road in Corolla, you will begin to feel the invigorating sea air and see pelicans, seagulls and the ubiquitous petite sandpipers on the run. Drive over the dune into Carova Beach, where all the roads are sand. When you turn into my driveway for 'Sea-Ya-Round', in Carova Beach you may be surprised to see wild horses there to greet you. Some of the mares may have their cute foals with them. The house which is located in Carova Beach is about eight and a half miles up the beach from the end of the paved highway, Route 12 in Corolla, and is accessible by four wheel drive only.
When you first enter 'Sea-Ya-Round', you will immediately relax and feel the uniqueness of this round house nestled in the dunes. There are two bedrooms on the lower level with a large full bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds. Large windows give wonderful views of the wild horses which meander around to the house almost everyday.
On the main level you will find a king bedroom and another large bathroom with a top-of-the-line washer/dryer. Also on the main level is your fully-equipped kitchen with an island wet bar and a dining area. You can relax and watch high definition television in both the family room and master king bedroom. You will also find a selection of DVD movies and a collection of books.
A stroll out the five foot wide runway to the elevated gazebo, with a new addition of 175 square feet of decking attached to the gazebo, will show you why you chose to have your vacation at 'Sea-Ya-Round' in Carova Beach. You will see spectacular views up and down the beach, feel the cool breezes and witness the wonders of the pelicans' flight as they glide by at your eye level. Suddenly, all the stresses of your life will disappear! Take a glass of wine and watch and savor the views for hours from the gazebo or the new decking. In the evening have your dinner in the gazebo, or on the deck and enjoy the spectacular blazing sunsets.
You will want to spend the night in the gazebo!
Awake to the wild mustangs having their morning fill of sea oats, so why not join them for breakfast in the gazebo? You can enjoy the glistening morning surf, and watch the ocean with its abundance of sea life frolicking in the morning lull. The views will be mesmerizing as you sip your morning coffee.
Direct access to Carova Beach is reached by steps from the gazebo down to the beach. Your cares will vanish while strolling along the beach perhaps looking for unusual shells or other treasures from the sea. End your day relaxing in the round hot tub. Turn off all the lights so you may take in the beautiful night skies with shooting stars. All this and more is yours while you are staying in beautiful Carova Beach and 'Sea Ya Round'.
There are many other things to do while staying in Carova Beach such as taking a hike in the False Cape State Park. This is located about 1.5 miles north of the house.
The park kiosk has a flier that will show you where walking trails are located throughout the park. There is a pristine, undisturbed beach where only nature abounds. Surf fishing is always a fun thing to do, and who knows, you may catch fresh fish for your dinner. While you fish, you can watch the seagulls and pelicans fish for their dinner. A fishing permit is required.
If you have the desire to go off the beach to the south, you will find many wonderful restaurants with all types of cuisine. Visit the shops in Corolla and Timbuck II shopping area, and don't forget to tour the restored Whale Head Club, the Currituck Lighthouse and finally the new (FREE) Wildlife Museum, which are all located together in Corolla. Driving further south will offer more to see - such as the Wright National Memorial Park where flight began in 1903, and the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo.
But, the best place to be is at 'Sea Ya Round' in Carova Beach!

About Jack Pardue
I've been a lover of Carova Beach for many years. As an artist, I love the beauty of this Beach. I've painted many landscapes in Carova and I teach plein air pastel landscape workshops around the country and abroad. I love surf fishing at the beach house, and I wish I had more time to spend in Carova. I've Traveled a lot, but there seems to be no place like Carova. I'm a pretty easy going guy and just like being alive to paint landscapes, and travel. You will see a few of my landscapes in the house. If you would like to see my art work, Google my name. OK, that's enough about me! Have a great week!!! Cheers!, Jack
Jack Pardue purchased this House in 1990
Why Jack Pardue chose Fruitville
I chose Carova Beach because of its natural beauty and the remoteness, as well as, there are no paved roads. There is no better place to relax and just chill out and watch the Wild Horses and pelicans.

Magical oceanfront getaway!
The house is so clean and cozy. Feels very comfortable and homey. Location is one in a million! Looking forward to a return visit. Wonderful, kind, considerate host. Thank you for sharing this gem!
Excellent place, not so big as to be wasteful, not so small as to leave you wanting room (even with 4 adults, 2 kids, and the dog); just right!
My wife and I both were slightly skeptical of all the 5-star reviews (only slightly), but this place was right on the money with all the other reviews 5-STARS! Just what you want in a vacation spot to relax and get away, with some truly awesome views of the beach & water from the gazebo & deck, and the wild horses from pretty much anywhere. The hot tub was enjoyed by all of the humans. The kids played with the provided beach toys. The dog was even grateful for a set of bowls in the 'dog box' since the humans forgot her dishes in NY.
The weather didn't cooperate 100% of the time for us, but oh well, and there were movies provided on hand and things to do inside this place that made it just fine.
The first trip up the 4WD beach was a little unnerving, but it was soon found to be just another piece of this awesome place. The house was spotless, the property was excellent as well.
Jack was just as awesome to work and deal with, straight-forward and easy to talk to; called the week before we arrived and the day of arrival to make sure everything was well, as well as the day before departure to make sure everything was still going okay.
Big plusses that may or may not have been plainly identified in the listing:
1. There is no/very limited cellular service (AT&T) at the house to help you unplug and BE away
2. Due to the location 8 miles up the 4WD beach, the tourist population and surge is not so noticed
3. Due to #2, the beach isn't crowded and you can enjoy your own space and walks without all the fuss.
We plan on returning in 2018 as long as our schedules permit and Jack has an open week for us!
I don't know where to find the words to respond to your review of your week at my beach house. So as not to repeat myself, I will just start off by saying I agree with everything you said about my beach house in your wonderful review. You are so right about the north end of the beach being the least traveled. I also agree with you about the great views from the gazebo and deck! As for the nice comment about me, you must remember that I care about my guest, and I want everything to go well for them.
As for Mother Nature, I have offered to pay her extra for a lot more of the perfect weather days, but as might be expected she turned me down COLD! I think she works for the government.
All that said, I hope you folks will return as soon as possible in 2018.
Perfect family getaway
This was literally a great off the beaten path vacation rental. I recommend to anyone to take that extra step and go up the 4x4 beach to Carova. It's definitely a change of pace from the busyness of the rest of the Outer Banks. We were there first tenants of 2017 and Jack did a great job getting See Ya Round ready. Beautiful condo and a perfect place for a family or smaller group of people. Great setting, half the time it felt as if we had the island to ourselves. The gazebo makes it all the better. It gives you your own personal spot on the waterfront 24/7. Clean condo and you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. Living, dining and kitchen area mesh perfectly together. This place is definitely a gem of the outer Banks. I also brought my bike and made it over to False Cape State Park in Virginia with is about a mile away. Lots of trails for hiking and riding which adds to the allure of Carova Beach. The uniqueness of See Ya Round in the settings of Carova made for an unforgettable trip!
Wow! Thanks for your kind words about my oceanfront house! What more can I say? I'm so pleased that your week at "Sea Ya Round" was so rewarding. The gazebo is the place to hang out and you can feel like you own the beach. Glad you discovered False Cape State Park in Virginia. It is a wonderful place to spend time during your stay in Carova Beach.
Yes, living in the round can be fun! You folks come back when ever you can!
Have a great Summer!
Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!
What more can I say?! My husband and I have just returned from our stay at Sea Ya Round and we loved every minute of it! We were looking for a relaxing, serene location near the water where we could see a lot of wildlife and be away from it all for a while. This was our first trip to the Outer Banks and we did a lot of research online to find just the perfect house to rent, and did we ever find it! This little round house nestled in the dunes is the perfect size, so unique, clean and just like a slice of paradise.
Jack is a wonderful host and a genuinely nice guy who is very concerned with his guests’ happiness - even checking on us by phone during our stay – such a nice personal touch that you don’t get from a rental company. Our only regret is that we didn't get to meet him in person to share a cocktail or two! Sherry from the housekeeping service is great too and does a beautiful job keeping the house clean and welcoming for guests. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the equipment you could possibly need, the hot tub is great for an evening soak, and the gazebo is the perfect spot (even in January!) to watch the sun rise over the water in the morning and set over the sound side at night. We enjoyed seeing the gorgeous wild horses nearly every day, both on the property and as we were driving in and out of Carova Beach, in addition to dolphins playing in the surf, foxes and even a seal sunning on the beach one day! Make sure you check out all of Jack’s artwork throughout the house as well, as he is a very gifted artist.
Because it was off-season, that for us made it all the better. Driving the 4x4 beach was a blast and we were truly secluded in Carova Beach, but close enough to shopping, dining and able to take day trips to see the rest of the Outer Banks - all the way down to Okracoke Island. There is no doubt that we will return to Sea Ya Round again and we would recommend it to all of our friends!
Sharon and John,
Your review of my oceanfront house is just marvelous! Thank you for the very kind words about me, and Sherry, my housekeeper. She will be so happy that everything was up to your standards. I'm so pleased that you were able to take some side trips up and down the Outer Banks coast line. I had hoped that the wild mustangs would visit you at my house and they did. Also, glad that you got to see the dolphins. There are many species of wildlife living in Carova Beach and that is what makes it so special.
Thanks for the gracious words about my paintings. Please return to "Sea Ya Round" as soon as you can make it back!
The most relaxing vacation ever....
I spent 3 weeks at See Ya Round....it was absolutely perfect. I love the Outer Banks and prefer the 4 wheel drive beach. I retired earlier this year and decided I wanted to spend at least 3 weeks at the beach. I found this home and it was exactly what I was looking for...it had every thing I needed...fully stocked kitchen, chairs, hot tub and the views from the gazebo are spectacular. Enjoyed having coffee, drinks and dinner in the gazebo. My husband spent 2 weeks and said he wanted to email his boss and tell him he was going to retire as well...lol. My sister and niece spent a week and thought it was incredible as well. Our dog also enjoyed his runs on the beach everyday. There is a lone horse that came by the house a few times and a deer appeared one time. I spent one day seeing all of the light houses in the Outer Banks, while it was a drive it was quite spectacular especially driving back to the house at night seeing horses, foxes, and a rabbit on the beach. My one regret is not meeting Jack...he is a gem. We talked several times before, during and after the trip and he has a wonderful place. Jack...thank you for the best 3 weeks. I hope to See Ya Round in the future.
I'm so happy that your three weeks were what you had hoped for! You were wonderful to work with and your laugh was great, made me feel good each time you broke into it. Come to think of, I don't think that I have ever stayed in "Sea Ya Round" for three weeks in a row. I'm so happy that your sister and niece could come and stay with you for a few days. Guess we will have to see if your husband will make the leap into retirement, LOL. Well, after talking with you so much, you feel like an old friend, and I would have loved to have met you. I do hope you will return again sometime soon! My thanks is that you had a relaxing time at my little round house!
Michele, you are a class act!!! Have a great Fall, Jack
We just got back from our vacation at See-Ya-Round the first week of August. The house was everything we wanted. In an area where there are mostly multi-family huge houses, this was a rare gem to find a house the perfect size for our family of 5. It was so unique to stay at a round-house. It was beautifully furnished and I enjoyed looking at all the paintings, esp. the ship-wreck one. Loved the ceiling of the house! The house had everything we needed from movies, games, puzzles, and kitchen cookery. We loved the proximity of being on the beach. We appreciated the beach chairs, and beach toys. It was nice to have hoses at different locations. I enjoyed my coffee every morning sitting on the gazebo. We also enjoyed the hot-tub.(That was my kid's favorite feature of the house!) It was amazing to walk out on the beach at night and gaze at the stars. The personal touch of having Jack call in to check in with us during our vacation was very nice. We lost power the first night and Jack was able to have the electrician come out and fix the phones right away once we realized they were not working. It was so special to see the wild horses, dolphins, and deer. EXCELLENT house=EXCELLENT Vacation! The perfect vacation destination for anyone just wanting to get away to relax at the beach!
Andea and Gary,
Everytime I read a rewiew like this of my beach house "Sea Ya Round" I feel such pride because it makes me feel I"ve done some things right. I feel that my house is cozy, yet it has a very open feeling to it. With your nice comments about the house and gazebo and the paintings and how well equiped the house is, makes so aware of the great guests I have had in the past few years! I hope you and the family will return to relax once again in "Sea Ya Round"
Wow, to get an excellent rating just makes my day!!!
Thanks so much,
False Cape State Park is 1.5 miles north of the house for hiking fun.
