Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Sally Gap cabin is located 8 miles east of Hayesville, in the peaceful community of Shooting Creek. We are located just 10 minutes from beautiful Lake Chatuge. Our 4 acre property is bordered by a babbling creek on one side and wonderful views of mountains on the other.

The large, two acre meadow is the perfect spot for enjoying fireflies, picking blackberries, viewing the creek and enjoying the creekside fire ring. During the winter months occasional snow fall allows for sledding down the meadow hill.

The cabin itself is furnished with carefully chosen pieces and with conveniences of high speed internet including wifi, Direct TV and long distance phone; gas fireplace and central ac/heat and washer and dryer. A grill is located on the porch for those tasty meals waiting to be prepared.

Two private bedrooms--1 King, 1 queen along with an additional queen sleeping area and full bath are located on the first level. The convenient kitchen, den and garden bath are located on the second level. A window seat and inflatable mattress can accomodate an additional adult or a child or for lounging and catching up on reading while enjoying the view.

About Ginger

I am a dentist in Florida and my vacations are spent at the cabin in North Carolina. I love the peacefulness of the area and the many activities available. We take our dogs with us when we go and they love to romp in the meadow and play in the creek. We love the local restaurants in the area and we have also rented pontoon boats to cruise Lake Chutuge. Antiquing is another favorite past time.

Ginger purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Ginger chose Hayesville

Hayesville is a small town and not as built up as some nearby towns. The scenery in the area is beautiful and calming-- a great get-away from the rat race of city life. Our mountain cabin has a remote feel, but is easily accessible year round

What makes this cabin unique

Peace and tranquility! Close to restaurants and grocery store yet far enough out so it's quiet. Love looking at the stars at night and sitting by the fire cooking marshmellows.

Watching our dogs romp in the meadow and play in the creek is fun.

Cozy cabin on gorgeous property

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Ginger's cabin! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. I have to say....the window seat upstairs may have been one of the best features. :) We loved being able to cook our own meals and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were delighted with the privacy and tranquility of the property and loved having so much room for our German Shepherd to run and explore. It was so nice to be able to bring her with us and have the space for her to play...and not have to pay the exorbitant fees that most rentals charge to bring a pet. Definitely a selling point for us...and now we are absolutely happy to recommend this cabin to others. I was so sad to leave. Who knows...we may just have to go back sometime!

Great views!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a beautiful, quiet area and the new deck provides a great space to enjoy the mountain views. Kitchen is stocked for everything you need for cooking and we also used the grill 2 nights. Our pup loved running around the meadow and exploring the creek. There are a couple of chairs, but if you have more than 2 people, I recommend bringing some camp chairs to use down at the creek. We really enjoyed sitting/reading/listening/watching the creek while our pup played. Thank you for sharing your home!

Beautiful location

  • 4 of 5

The large field made for perfect eclipse viewing and child rampaging, and the creek was a permanent source of adventure for the kids. The owners were very responsive (A/C was broken but they had someone out there immediately to fix it), and the house was quite comfortable. Beautiful view from the upper deck, and they appear to be adding a screened porch to the lower level. A very large, private property for your group. Just a great setting.

The house was clean and comfortable and fine for us, but it won't be perfect for everyone. It would be great for 2 couples and some kids, but might not be ideal for more, so know your group. On the first floor there are two bedrooms (1 w/ king, 1 w/ queen), one full bath, and a living room or den area, with a third bed located in the living room. There's a large privacy screen at the foot of the bed, but it's definitely not private. The side of the bed is open to the room and you have to walk right past it to get to the floor entrance. That floor has no internal connection to the rest of the house; you have to go out to the porch and up the outside steps (which are covered) to the second floor. I actually rather liked that feature--late-nighters can stay up while sleepyheads can turn in--but some may not.

The second floor contains a kitchen, living area, and full bath. The biggest drawback to us was the lack of any table for dining. There's a large island in the kitchen that you can sit around, but we needed that for counter space since that is otherwise limited. There is room for a table, though, so you could bring a folding one and chairs, and all you'd have to do is move one chair to make room.

But the negatives did not detract from the positives for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids. I'd certainly rent it again--it's a beautiful place--though with only two bedrooms I don't think I'd go with 8 adults.

Owner's Response: Samuel: I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin during the eclipse. We did not increase our rates for this event. I appreciate your concern about the lack of dining space. We have decided to add a dining room table inside as well as dining options on the new porch. Hope you can enjoy our Sally Gap cabin again. Ginger

Had a Wonderful time! Off the beaten path with plenty of room.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, along with our adult daughter and her pet dog, had a four night stay at Ginger's cabin. We found the cabin well-kept, clean, and well-appointed with everything that we needed supply-wise. Really enjoyed the location, which was off the beaten path, yet not far enough to be away from groceries and restaurants. No traffic noise to drowned out the pleasant sound of the briskly running stream that runs the length of the property. A large grassy area along the stream provided ample room for the dog to run to its hearts content. Ginger even provides a nice sleeping pad and water dishes for pet guests, so the place is indeed pet friendly. And the rate was less than many hotels with a lot more room to roam and so many conveniences. Would return for another stay in a heartbeat!

Great Cabin and Location. Very clean and well maintained.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin inside was like new. You could tell it had just recently been remodeled. The bed was great, very comfortable. The shower was the largest I've even seen in a rental home or hotel. Both bathrooms were large and easily had room for two people. The views from the deck of the mountains was spectacular! The eat-in kitchen was a good size. Far enough out of Hayesville to be quite with great views, and an easy ride into town. The stream running along the full length of the property made it sound like rain at night and reminded you that you are in the mountains. There is at least 3 acres of open grass land for the dog to run free. We enjoyed our stay and love Hayesville so we'll be planning another trip next year!

Owner's Response: John: So glad you enjoyed our cabin with the 3 acres and babbling creek. One of my favorites is to listen to it also while sitting on the porch. We hope to see you again!! Ginger
