Mixed feelings

Although the communication from the property owner was very quick, the information given in the property description versus his comments was very descriptive. (1) description says it’s an airstream, but then he tells me it is an Avion made to look like a airstream. Why lie in the description. (2) he tells me there is a main house with people staying there, so we will have to share the amenities. Again, no indication of a main house in the description. (3) finally he tells me we have to park at a certain place in a certain way. I ask how far a walk it is to the RV and he writes, “make sure this is the right place for you.” I feel like the description was deceptive and the property owner could have cared less whether we stayed there or not. The property itself was ok given it is an RV.

(1) Our narrative on a description of an Avion, is that is looks like an Airstream, it is not "made to look like an Airstream". Most people have not heard of an Avion, so we say it looks like an Airstream so it is more descriptive. Guests generally refer to pictures on the site that are of the Avion, so should not be any confusion. (2) The on-site information shared does say there is a main house, but you may have missed that. In looking at the saved communication, you left out several things. You asked for an early check in, it was granted. (3) On parking, we asked you to park the same way our family parks at the location. Front bumper to front of building, this is done to reduce driveway traffic and so that no one was blocked in. You also did not mention that the guests there also said you can park in the driveway if you wanted, but you had declined. Another key detail you left out was that you said your husband was "handicapped and can’t walk long distances" when we asked you to park in the front of the house. What you took for me not caring, is that I was worried about the stairs up to the RV and the walk to the river. The river although gradual, it is at the end of the property and requires walking. That is actually caring that this is the right place for you based on your comments about him being handicapped. You left that in the communication exchange, after we asked you to park in the front of the house. .You also left out, when you were told other people would be there, that you were offered a full refund, since you said you did not know, you said "no it will be fine". It was well in advance of the reservation, and there was plenty of time to make a change. You also left out all the communication that was being done, maps, other questions, etc. Based on all the accurate saved communications, and knowing that other guests have loved the place, we are going to abide by those real reviews. Your review conveniently leaves out the saved communication that actually occurred. We do understand that you won’t be renting here anymore and we are sorry it did not work out for you. Best of luck in your future travels, there are a lot of great hosts out there, just make sure you let people know all the facts when leaving reviews.

Love the pics! Glad you enjoyed the place! We did a little experiment to see what a economical stay, including one night only (we received $146, so netted about $90 after cleaning fees) . The guest did not enjoy the place based on the 8 out of 10 review, so not enough value to do this any more. But we did try! Thanks!

Been doing this a long time. Love the San Marcos River. We wanted to add a place that would be affordable, so we added a renovated RV. This was a fun project to do.

Why they chose this property

Martindale is really convenient to Austin, San Antonio, and about 7 miles from San Marcos. You are out by a river, and you fee like you are way out, but your close to large cities, and small cities. Martindale downtown is fun to go to, closes up early, but worth going to. It's a great spot!
