About The Owner

I am a registered nurse currently working in the area of school health. Every day is different and unpredictable. Interacting with the students make my job rewarding and fun. I love to cook (I have all the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks), sew and travel.

The Owner purchased this house in 1976

Why The Owner chose Ohio

Grandview Manor was my home since 1976. I have so many great memories to cherish. The summers were especially memorable. What child wouldn't enjoy having the beach in their backyard? Instant fun! We enjoyed picnics with family and friends and what was great was that there was room for everyone and plenty to do. After the sun went down, we would go to Geneva-On -The- Lake and join the fun.

What makes this house unique

We are less than a mile from Geneva State Park.

The beach is private and quiet. One of my favorite things to do while at The Manor is to get up early and take my tea to the gazebo to watch the sunrise and do some birdwatching.

Great weekend!

  • 5 of 5

The occasion for our visit was an upcoming "memorable" birthday of mine. My sisters rented the Manor as a surprise to me for the 4 of us to have a long weekend away. It was incredible. I have so many pictures of us outside at the bluff, we had awesome weather which included sunsets, a campfire and watching the big, big storm come in on Saturday night. We all love storms. Listening to the waves that night was amazing. Lots of card playing and eating favorite meals. Included a wine tour which was very enjoyable and some shopping another day, but mostly just relaxing and being together. The bedrooms were big and very nice and included air conditioning for the hot nights. I was not particularly looking forward to this birthday, but I can now honestly say every single time I think about that weekend, I smile. I wish it had been another day longer, and would love to go back again.

Peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We initially chose Grandview Manor because we wanted to be away from the activities on the strip. It was a lovely setting to spend a long weekend away from home with my sisters. The evenings sitting on the bluff with the fire and the waves crashing was very relaxing. Our weather was such that getting down to the beach was difficult at times. But anyone who wanted quality Beach time only had to travel five minutes to get to Geneva beach.

We had most of our meals at the house in the dining room which was very comfortable, the kitchen was very accommodating and had everything we needed. Some evenings we spent at the kitchen table playing cards.

We did use the AC in the bedrooms as the weather was pretty warm, but some nights it was just too hard to pass up opening the windows and listening to the waves crash on the beach.

It is a beautiful old home, and Karen was extremely helpful and answering any questions and being available when we needed her. This is definitely on our list of places to visit again

Sisters weekend

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I spent a long weekend at Grandview Manor and had a wonderful time. There is tons of room inside, but when we weren't out and about, we spent most of our time sitting on the bluff enjoying the wonderful breeze and evening fires. We were very happy that we didn't choose someplace on "the strip", we loved the peace and quiet of where we were. I have great memories of our weekend and will think about it often. Thank you.

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the grandview manor and it was wonderful. There was so much space including bedrooms for everyone which is rare for us to find on our yearly lake erie trips. The yard is very private and we had plenty of room for lawn games and space to just spend time together. The house was clean and while it is dated it lacked nothing. We used the air in only one of the bedrooms with the breeze from the lake making the rest of the rooms plenty cool through the day and night. We enjoyed the fire pit right on the water each night. The only downside was the unpredictable lake erie which gave us a different amount of beach space each day making some days more difficult to manage getting down to the beach. We already have our trip scheduled for next summer. It is the perfect place to bring your family for a private getaway at the lake.

This was our first stay at Grandview Manor. We are four couples who met on a tour of Scotland and Ireland several years ago, and instantly became friends. We try to get together somewhere every six months or so, and it was my turn to plan our weekend getaway. Since I live on Lake Erie, several hours away, I decided that our friends should see all that our lovely lake area had to offer. I was pleasantly surprised at how big the Manor is! We each had our own bedrooms and several even had suites with their own full bathrooms! The kitchen, where we all gathered to prepare our meals, was huge and accommodating and the dining room table was just right for our meals and games of cards in the evenings. We also kept a fire going in the lakefront fire pit almost all weekend, and even though the weather wasn't the greatest, we enjoyed the time that we could gather around the fire. The house was warm and inviting and very, very comfortable! As we were saying our 'goodbyes' and trying to decide where to stay next, the group decided that we would definitely choose this place to come back to! Thank you, Karen, for helping me plan the perfect weekend and I'll definitely be in touch to plan for next year!

Great setting

  • 4 of 5

We really appreciated the spaciousness of the house and its beautiful setting. First floor furnishings are a bit dated, but in very good repair. The outdoor spaces were so great that we didn't spend much time indoors anyways!

We will definitely keep this place in mind for our next family gathering.
