Adorable cottage!

  • 5 of 5

The house was charming---We loved the front porch! We didn't come down to see trains, We came to canoe. Because of the fires in the Okeefenokee, our canoeing was in jeopardy. We met a wonderful man who volunteers for the swamp, and he let us use his canoe. Vacation saved.

The 2 minute walk to the train viewing platform led us to "swizzle time" with the trains FUN!

Lucy was quick to help us with any problems. She is a sweetheart! Be sure to visit the Shop around the Corner (next door). Great consignments at a great price. Christine & Jim

Ok for a couple of nights.

The wifi did require a username and password which were not made available. Also, there was no garbage can to place the trash in when we left, so we took the trash with us and threw it away elsewhere. Nice little cottage right by train tracks. Sleep in back bedroom if the noise of trains and traffic bother you. Love the little town atmosphere of Folkston and the people were very friendly.

Choo Choo Birthday Party

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The light in the kitchen was out and I sent emai to home owners and the came and replaced the bulb very swiftly. We very very happy with their promptness. This was a perfect option for our stay in Folkston. I am sure we will be back! We toured the Okefenokee Refuge and celebrated our grandson's Choo Choo 2nd Birthday ! We give you a big Thank You!

Great placde to slow down and enjoy

  • 5 of 5

very nice cottage. has everything you need to have a pleasant stay. well stocked kitchen if you want to cook in. comfy beds and plenty of places to sit in the living room. great front porch to sit and swing or rock away the time and watching the world go by.

will be telling everyone what a good time we had. great place to sit back and relax away from the hustle and bustle of a large city. loved watching the policemen direct traffic in the mornings. they put on a neat show directing. something you do not see in the city.

Friendly town, real southern charm.

love watching the trains at the funnel just a block away.

highly recommend the Brickhouse Restaurant on Highway 301 South. also the Thai Smile on Main Street. and do not miss Dixie's she has some different things plus.

Wonderful Home and Getaway in Georgia

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed here several times and enjoyed every single visit. Folkston in some ways is like a second home to us, and a large part of that comes from the wonderful experiences we've had at this little cottage.

It's within easy walking distance of downtown stores and the train watching platform, and it's a very short drive to the store to pick things up. In the region, if you want to drive to the Okefenokee Swamp or the dog-friendly beaches at Jekyll it's a quick drive, and you also have easy access to more stores and shopping in Kingsland and St. Mary's, and even Jacksonville is about an hour away. It was also a very nice place for us with our dog, as he loved going around town on walks and watching the trains go by in the evening, and we could also drive up to Woodbine and let him walk on the trails there if we wanted. If you're vegetarian, the Subway downtown may have veggie patties if you ask for them, as we learned that on our way out and were quite happy to hear it.

The size is nice for a cozy getaway for a week or even just a weekend, and we've actually stayed here for months at a time while we were traveling around the country, and it was a lot of fun to settle in when we were there. The town is also very friendly and helpful and has a very relaxed small town feel that we've missed in many other parts of the country. The internet was also pretty good compared to the issues that a lot of people in rural Georgia run into with internet access, and I was able to work from home from here for both of my last jobs. There are also a lot of nice things around in the area, or even just at the house, as we set up one of the bird-feeders and had a family of cardinals fly in for us to watch with our binoculars the last time we were there.

Lucy and Tracey have always been wonderful to us on every visit and made sure that everything was right for us, and any time we ran into an issue they were always very responsive and proactive in taking care of things as they came up. It's a wonderful place in any event, but they've really helped with the special touch to make it feel so much like a home during our stays.

What a great vacation!!!! Our little cottage was so clean, homey and well furnished. The only items we took in were our personal items and food. The owner is a lovely person and the people of Folkston were ever so friendly The swamp is a must. Our time went by way to fast. This little house is a must.
