A quaint little place with an excellent location for anyone interested in watching trains! Don’t be afraid of the proximity to the trackside, the trees across the street do a surprisingly good job of sound proofing the house from the trains. We look forward to visiting again sometime!
The little white home is a perfect place to stay and right in town. The bedroom on the road is loud at night but the back bedroom was perfectly blocked from the noise. The home is older but lovely and clean. Everything we needed. Will come again!
Thank you
It was very comfortable. Tracey was very supportive. Every time I notified her she was on top of the issue.
We had stayed here for at least 5 times from a couple of weeks to 3 months
Plan to come back.
Gary and I had just sold our house and where renovating the new purchase.
We didn’t want to inconvenience anyone and saw the sign for Ms Lucy’s Vacation rental. Perfect place to recoup and make plans for our next home. We enjoyed the peace and having our “own” place for a couple of weeks. The small cozy cottage was just what we needed!

Way to loud to sleep, not a nice place to stay at all
Very old furniture with holes in Chair and Sofa, old smelling house, extremely loud during night and day because of honking trains (last one at around midnight, first one at 2.30am).

I'm sorry the train noise bothered you, but we have many guests who come because they want to see and hear the trains.

Disappointing
The property looks like a cozy cottage, but it was not. The window blinds are broken and slats are missting on many of the windows. There were no drinking glasses, (she told me that she would have Amazon send us glasses on Friday, but they never appeared), the dishes in the kitchen cabinet for the most part are unreachable. The cabinet with the cookware was a jumbled assortment of cookware and other items. There was no dish cloth or scrubber to wash the dishes which may be the reason that many of the dishes were dirty. The screen around the air conditioner in the rear bedroom was not atttached, which may be the reason there was a wasp nest inside the room (and yes, I was stung in the night). The lock box on the back door was very difficult to open and get the key in and out of to unlock/lock it. There is a cable box that allows one to watch approximately 7 to 10 channels (local broadcast). If you don't mind train whistles and noise, no problem as they run about 10 times a day. We were very disappointed.

I did order the glasses, but Amazon lost the package. Since then I have bought glasses for the cottage and placed a stepping stool in the kitchen. The cottage is definitely more rustic, and many people do enjoy the trains.
We stayed in the cottage for Railwatch this year and it was the perfect spot for our family of 4. It is a great location, easily accessible to everything in a short walk.
We had a blast here. Trains, food, good people, quiet!!! Will return!!!

Cozy little house.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was cozy. The bed was ok. We didn't use the stove, really the kitchen except for the fridge. I did see dishes, and pots and pans.
The tv was extremely small for those who watch a lot tv.
But for us it was fine.
The bedding was old and the pillows definitely need replacing.
The thing that bothered me was the bathtub. It drained slow and hard to get in and out of. I was afraid of falling.
Definitely not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. The back outdoor light also needs fixed. Area ok. You can walk to Folkston funnel, about a block away. You can not see trains from this house. All in all we would stay here again.
We were visiting family over the holidays. We stayed here and it was a perfect place. The house was tastefully decorated with comfortable beds and living room. The front porch was great with rocker and swing. We hope this will be available for future visits to our family. The train is a perfect distance as to not keep you awake during the night.

Charming and welcoming.
This property was just as described, it was everything we could ask for. Lucy was very responsive when we had questions. It is a very quaint place to get away from it all.

Quaint. Very clean. Simply did not understand train after train tooting horns all night.
Train noise all night.
High way in front of cottage a racetrack until about 1:00 am.
Greatly enjoyed the Thai restaurant in town. Loved touring Okefenokee Swamp both daytime and sunset boat tours.
Visited Jekyll Island all one day, only an hour away.
Other than the noise factor it was a good trip.

I'm sorry you were inconvenienced by the train noise. Folkston is known for its busy train schedule, and many people come here for that reason. We have not had other complaints about highway traffic noise before, so maybe it was an unusually busy time. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of your time at the Okefenokee Swamp and Jekyll Island.

a quaint cottage
We enjoyed our stay and it was what we expected as we had stayed in the cottage before. And it's called the Train Watcher's Cottage by design. the trains run night and day - which if you're not a train lover can be a bit disconcerting.
