About the property

Plenty of space for multiple families, located on CCRT bike path

Great updates & location!

Updates include all new windows, new kitchen with improved layout, updated bath, new first level flooring and living room furniture. The house is located on a dead-end wooded street but its just around the corner from Orleans Town Center.

Open concept living, dining and kitchen area leads onto a large new deck. Perfect set up for one large or multiple smaller families. Located in the heart of Orleans on a quiet dead-end street, this ideal location is on the Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT), a 15 minute walk to both Skaket Beach and Orleans center for shopping and restaurants. Four very spacious bedrooms, two full bathrooms plus a new outdoor shower provides space and comfort making this an excellent family vacation home.

If you need bikes to enjoy the local trails and amenities, there are two bike rental shops just down the street. Hourly, daily or weekly rentals available.

Of course if you are renting at the Cape, beach details are important. The pictures shown are of Skaket Beach (bay side) which is .8 mile from the house. Skaket is a smaller but beautiful, has a large sand bar for those with children, parking lot, small snack bar and bathrooms. Nauset Beach (ocean side) is much larger, 4 miles from the house, has great ocean waves, with plenty of parking, large snack bar, picnic table area, and bathrooms.

Cooler, chairs & umbrella available in the garage to use. (items shown in picture gallery).

1st Floor Master Bedroom: Queen bed (striped bedding in pic) connects to main bathroom.

1st Floor Bedroom 2: Queen bed (coral & blue bedding in pics).

2nd Floor Bedroom 3: Queen bed and single bed (gray/blue bedding in pics)

2nd Floor Kids Bedroom 4: Six single beds

Full bath on each floor, 1st floor bath has laundry facilities. Outdoor shower, walkout basement, large driveway for multiple cars plus 1 car garage.

The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for large family gatherings. Useful kitchen gadgets, seafood necessities (steamer, lobster crackers & forks, oyster & clam knives), wine glasses & cocktail shakers, serving platters and plenty of extra dishes so you won't run out.

The house isn't just a rental property to us, its our vacation home as well so we use it often, maintain as needed and make it a bit better each year. We hope you enjoy your stay and thanks in advance for taking good care of our home.

About Margie & Jim Peterson

Mom & dad of two fantastic but typical teenagers who have enjoyed the Cape for years by camping at Nickerson State Park. Our favorite summer activities are movies at the Wellfleet Drive-in Theatre, having BBQ (Big Dogs BBQ) while bowling at the newly refurbished Orleans Bowling Center (OBC), clamming in the local shellfish beds, having at least one night at Land Ho!, ride our bikes to Arnolds for ice cream and mini-golf and of course the beach.

Margie & Jim Peterson purchased this house in 2013

Why Margie & Jim Peterson chose Orleans

We love this house because the wooded dead-end street gives the feeling of privacy but it's around the corner from everything we enjoy at the Cape. We bike to Arnolds or to Snow's who sells anything you forgot or need, it's close to Nickerson's kettle ponds & trails, grocery shopping, baseball in Orleans....We wish we could tell you everything there is to do and enjoy!

What makes this house unique

Our street is part of the Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT) bike path, the back deck is fabulous for group dining, and the hammock & swing are a lovely place for your morning coffee with a book.

Everything we wanted/needed

  • 5 of 5

Truth be told, I think my husband & 2 adolescents were dreading spending a week “bonding”. By our final evening, everyone was planning our next visit to this charming property. The owners were very prompt in their responses to questions as well as addressing a few minor things. The location was close enough to everything we wanted but never felt overrun. I was so relaxed that I forgot to bring my phone the one evening I actually needed it. My only complaint was that the 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle we assembled was missing a few pieces. ;)

Ton of space and great location

  • 5 of 5

Margie and Jim's home was perfect for our 7 person family vacation. There was plenty of room for everyone to be comfortable and the property includes a nice backyard, plenty of parking space and all the amenities that you need for cooking, dining etc. The property is also very close to Skaket beach, rock harbor and maybe 10 minutes from Nauset beach. Lastly, Margie and Jim were excellent hosts and provided all of the information that we needed to enjoy our stay. I'd highly recommend booking this property. Thanks, Margie and Jim!

Great vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at this rental property. From the open floor plan to the deck and fully equipped kitchen everything was great! We loved the location and close proximity to the beach as well as restaurants and attractions. We had 3 generations, ranging in age from 6 mo to 60+ and there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy.

Amazing, counting the days until next year already!

  • 5 of 5

The house was super clean and had literally *everything* we could have needed for our stay, including toys for my three year old! Margie and Jim really did think of everything to make this place a home away from home. The beds were comfy and sheets were soft. I would recommend again and again!

Owner's Response: Love hearing that you enjoyed your stay but your specific comments really made me smile I like to sleep well, have a fully stocked kitchen, and rainy day items available when we rent, so all were our priorities. Would be great to host you and your family again.

Loved our week on the cape!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week at 20 Salty Ridge Road!!! The six cousins stayed in the room with six twin beds and had a ball! Everything you need is provided, and more - board games, ping pong table, volleyball net, movies!!! We had one quick question for the owner and she got back to us right away!!! The five air conditioners made everything comfortable!

We arrived in Boston on Friday and spent the night. We spent some time in Boston to beat the traffic heading to the Cape that we had heard about. We saw the Old North Church and went to the Boston Tea Party Museum - not to be missed!!!! We even hit Plymouth Rock on the way to our vacation house.

The grocery is four minutes away, and after getting food and getting settled, we headed up to Race Point Beach on the National Seashore. We had fun watching the seals sticking their heads out of the water.

We spent a day a Skatet Beach and the kids had fun catching crabs! We shuttled our stuff so we didn't have to pay for parking and the dads took turns taking the car back home and walking to the beach, and then walking home and coming to get us with all our sand toys etc!

The house is right near the bike path even though we never used it - it looked fun though!

We went to Sandwich to eat by the water (Fisherman's View - delicious) one day, walked on the long boardwalk and ended up at Mayflower Beach in Dennis before hitting some ice cream before heading home.

We took in a free baseball game in Orleans for the college wooden bat league that plays around the towns in the cape - beautiful night!!!!

We spent one day on Martha's Vineyard. It was fun to see, but a long day traveling - about one hour by car to Woods Hole, a twenty minute drive from the parking lot to the boat, and then the route 13 bus from Oaks Bluff to Edgartown, only to do it all again to get back home. The highlights were the Carousel with brass rings, the gingerbread houses, ice cream at the wharf and the beach at Jaws Bridge.

We spent two days at Nauset Beach. Despite the shark flags, the kids loved boogie boarding in all of the waves. (We found a surf shop that rented them for $5 each.) The sand is soft and gorgeous!!!

Our group was made up of grandma and a family from Michigan and Colorado!!!! We loved it and hope to make it back to the Cape again someday!!!!

Thank you Margie!!

Location, location, location

We had a really nice week in this house. Everything was very clean, the house had air conditioning in every room which was very nice. The kitchen and deck were spacious and enjoyed times on the deck after the beach. The best thing about this house is that it is right on the rail trail which was great for our morning biking and running. It was very close to all of our favorite spots - Less that a mile to the Hot Chocolate Sparrow, Emack and Bolio's, Hog's Tavern, etc. My son and his wife walked to the restaurant, ABBA, for dinner one night and they said their meal was fabulous.
