Relax with your favorite beverage out on the screened porch. Watch the lobster boats come in from a hard fishing day or simply enjoy the wild life of ospreys, bald eagles, wild turkeys, and deer. If sports activities are your pleasure, there are hiking trails, water access to the harbor with great kayaking and boating experiences, walk around Kresge's Point and view the lighthouse or hit one of the various trails around the area. If golf is your thing, try Wawenock Golf course just minutes away or head over to Samoset Resort, considered by many to be the Pebble Beach of the northeast. New Harbor is also just minutes away, have lunch out on Shaw's wharf (where Message in a Bottle was filmed) as you watch lobster boats bring in their daily catch. Whatever is your pleasure, you will be able to find it here.
The cottage sits on eight acres of pasture land, perfect for kids and dogs. There is a right of way to the water at the bottom of the pasture and minutes away from some of the best amenities for your vacation enjoyment. The colonial fort is a historical site equiped with museum and restaurant and can be seen from the back deck. The lighthouse is just down the road and if you have never been inside a working lighthouse, this is a must see. The beach is around the corner but if the water is too cold, head down to Bristol Mills for a good old fashion dip in the pond.
Although this is a turn of the century cottage, it has all been updated with modern conveniences. You get the ambiance without the hassle and should there be a cool night, there is plenty of firewood to be burned in the beautiful river rock fireplace. This cottage is perfect for family of seven: parents, children, grandparents all have the right sleeping accommodations...and lets not forget the dog!!
Keywords: Charming vintage cottage, updated for your comfort. Breathtaking water views of Pemaquid Harbor and John's Bay from atop a sweeping meadow. Open floor plan includes cozy living room with rustic stone fireplace, dining porch, sunroom and modernized kitchen with all amenities. Two master bedrooms and bathrooms, one up and one down, wheelchair accessible and pet friendly.
I am retired executive that loves DIY projects. I have done a lot of the finished work on the cottage. Traveling is my passion and i do so with my dog Divot whenever possible.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1945
This cottage is my family's second home. For the last three years, I have been renovating it to a year round house which will eventually be my 3/4 home. Since my grandparents bought this place in 1945, i spent most of my childhood summers here.
The most enjoyable aspect of this area is the peace and serenity i feel when i am here. There is so much to do but none of it has to be done, the view is just awe inspiring and the area is part of americana...I just love that there is so much to do and see.
We have wondered all over mid-coast, and we were always happy to return at the end of the day to your lovely home. The sunsets have been fantastic this week! we hope to return another year- there is so much more to see and do.
This lovely cottage boasts of beautiful views of the cove. As soon as we (5 adult siblings) arrived, we quickly felt at home. The layout worked perfect for our family with a split floor plan. Pam had all the amenities one would need for a vacation. Daily we took a walk down to the water to watch the sunset. The location is perfect, close to Pemaquid Lighthouse, restaurants, kayaking, as well as town for shopping, etc. Hope to be back.
A wonderful, clean, and well equipped house with plenty of space - even rainy days were comfortable. The view was spectacular from most of the rooms, especially at sunset! Get your lobsters from the coop, and consume them while watching the fox play in the meadow.
We will probably return next time we go to Maine to escape southern heat.
What more could you ask of a home-away-from-home in one of the most beautiful parts of God's creation! You can feel the years of love and happiness experienced by the Owner and her family, making you wish you could have known them and joined in the fun. It is not a slick, resort place, and we were glad about that--it was a place with character and charm. We were even able to enjoy fires in the fireplace a couple of nights. It was important that we have a place which would accommodate my husband's mobility scooter, and for the most part this house did. The gravel at the foot of the ramp was a little difficult to navigate, and there is a step into the house which was difficult, but manageable. We spent a week here and were joined by one of our sons and his wife for four of the nights. The setting is lovely. Although not a waterfront property, there is a view of an inlet, and the western sky in the evening provides a warm glow over the water. Drinking coffee in the morning on the porch and gazing at the water was about as peaceful as it gets. Several lobster pounds are nearby, and we may have left a few lobsters for other visitors to the area, although I know we ate more than our share! The kitchen and bathrooms were well-stocked with essentials. We even needed neosporin and bandaids for a minor cut and found them in a first aid basket in the bathroom! One thing that might be helpful to know is that if you have ATT cell service, it is very spotty at the cottage and in all of the Pemaquid area. There is not a landline at the cottage, so we felt a little isolated, and because of my husband's disability, it was a little troubling. The owner, Pamela, was very responsive in the reservation process and provided very helpful information both by email and in the house. However, with the lack of phone service and email, we were unable to contact the property manager for some minor needs. Places we loved to eat: Shaw's and Muscongus Lobster Company for lobster, Seagull for breakfast overlooking the ocean, The Cupboard for lunch or breakfast. Yum, makes me wish I were still there!
What a wonderful place to relax and decompress. The kitchen, when you want to cook rather than eat at all the great seafood places, is a delight. The bedrooms quiet and comfortable. View from the dining room and porch amazing! Beautiful sunsets. We shall return again and again.
This is a great cottage with a wonderful view. It is clean, comfortable and well-appointed while keeping the old-cottage charm. Prior to moving to Maine, we vacationed here four times spanning 20 years. We love the Damariscotta, New Harbor area and all that the Pemaquid peninsula has to offer. This is a perfect spot to launch a wonderful Maine coastal vacation. We highly recommend this cottage.
