This sparkling, one-level bungalow home is newly restored. The home is 3BR/2BA with an attached 2-car garage, back and front patios and an atrium. The living room is open to the entry and the large back patio (with a BBQ) and two of the bedrooms, the dining room and the kitchen open up onto the atrium (with a second BBQ). The Master Bedroom/Bathroom is on the opposite side of the home from the two other bedrooms and none of the bedrooms share a common wall to other bedrooms (either in the unit or with the neighbor).

Folks with limited mobility will appreciate the single story layout with no carpets. The home is easily navigated with a walker there is a hand bar and built in seat in hand-held shower nozzle. Comfort-height toilets are in both bathrooms.

Guests Comments include:

The house was so clean and organized and so easy to get to everywhere we wanted. We actually looked forward to coming back and just winding down in such a nice place.

I loved that my kids could ride the bikes around the community without fear of cars flying down the street. The home was perfect for our family and my mother that had limited mobility. Everybody had a place to go if they wanted privacy or if they wanted to be in the middle of all the goings on, we just loved this home and that it was central to everything we wanted to do. The Welcome book was a plethora of information and so much we learned about Huntington Beach was from the book. I loved, loved, loved the labels and information signs throughout the home because I didn’t have to stress about trying to find things and especially, trying to put things back. It was like everything was mapped out for us and it made it so easy for us to come in, change our clothes and go immediately to the beach. We like to walk around and we couldn’t believe how many people say “hello” – we never even met an unfriendly dog. My kids made instant friends with local kids at the pool and even went bike riding and playing basketball with the new friends. My kids didn’t want to leave. Everything in the home was so clean and worked and just no hassles. I wish my own home was that easy. Having use of the California State Park Pass was a fantastic surprise. We didn’t have to pay for parking at any California State Park and that included a lot of the beach parking. What a money saver.

We have stayed at other places and we never had something like this home. It was so clean and organized and we just felt all we had to do was enjoy our vacation because everything was so easy. We loved having the attached garage and the close parking. And not having to go upstairs or through a complex or a long walk down a narrow side entrance to unload the car was a blessing. Oh, and having a hose right outside the garage for rinsing off the feet and shoes, (and sometimes the kids) - excellent. We loved the Jacuzzi, pool and sauna and made us feel like we are actually staying at a resort or spa. After taking care of the kids all day, the Jacuzzi was our time. Our friends found this rental for us and they loved coming over to visit us when we actually came to visit them.

A bit about the home:

The Master Bathroom is walker friendly and the tile shower has a hand-held shower head and a built-in seat and safety bar. The only few steps are upon the entry from the front and from the garage. There are two queen beds, two twin beds and a leather sofa/queen sleeper. In addition, there is a small child’s mattress (crib size) and two mobile mattresses (twin size) that can be used in the bedrooms or in the living room, as needed by additional guests. Bed/Sofa Bed occupancy is for eight people; however, with the additional mobile mattresses, 10 people (plus a small child) can enjoy the home.

Ceiling fans are located in each bedroom, in the living room and in the kitchen. Ocean breeze runs very well, back to front, through the home.

The back patio has seating for six with an additional two-chair bistro set and four stacking chairs for more guests. The patio has a 4-burner BBQ and has a bar sink/faucet with a granite countertop food preparation area. Also, there are fresh herbs around the corner on the patio: rosemary, chocolate mint and apple mint for the chef and for the drinks.

The atrium has seating for four and has a 2-burner BBQ with direct access to the dining room/kitchen.

There is a 2-car garage (with garage door opener) and ample and easy parking on a wide street. This is not a gated community and the street is not a “pass-thru” street (so no crazy drivers).

California State Park Pass use included with rental (Free State Park Beach parking as well as other California State Park areas).

Equipment/Toys: There are three adult bikes, two children's bikes, bicycle helmets, tennis racquets/balls, basketball, volleyball, football, boogie boards, small swimming floats, beach toys, coolers, umbrella, umbrella table, beach chairs, beach towels, board games, cards, card table/chairs, etc., all for your enjoyment with the rental at no additional charge.

About Mike and Chanti

I am Mike Hermanns born and raised in Huntington and we have been on VRBO since 2002 and we manage quite a few furnished rentals. I went to Edison High School, college in San Luis Obispo, and eventually came back to Orange county. I can not believe what a vacation destination my sleepy little town has turned into. I was one of the first furnished rentals in the downtown Huntington Beach 15 years ago. I look forward to sharing all that this town has to offer with you. My wife Chanti and I manage and own quite few furnished homes in the area and are the owners of So Cal Hot Properties L.L.C., a property management company specializing in furnished rentals that I founded in 2002. You will find hundreds of wonderful reviews that we have worked very hard to get over the last 15 years so you can be assured that you are in good hands when you book with us. Please call, text or email us with any questions.

Best Regards,

Mike Hermanns

Great time had by all.

  • 4 of 5

The house did not disappoint in almost every respect. We travel frequently and rent properties all over the country. This was only the 2nd time I've ever stayed somewhere where the home provided almost everything you could ever want or need! Waffle iron, blender, every kind of pot, pan, utensil and dish, pillows, blankets, beach/pool items, bicycles (the other property where that happened was in Hawaii). The only "glitch" occurred with the VRBO ad stating that there was a "portable A/C unit in each bedroom", which turned out not to be true. The weather itself was cool enough that A/C wasn't needed for that purpose, but a couple of us had allergies especially at night and the A/C would have been helpful for that reason alone. We didn't find out that the ad was wrong about the A/C situation until just a few days before we were to travel, so there was literally no time to find anything else. That is the reason for the 4 star rating -- it would have been 5 stars if not for that. The place is not fancy but the amenities & furniture (including the beds) were comfortable, clean and more than adequate for the 9 of us. I would definitely recommend the place, but if it matters to you and the ad hasn't been changed to reflect it, just know there is NO air conditioning at all.

Very nice vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for three days weekend, it felt like home when I walked in, very clean and had everything we needed. Traders Joe is at a walking distance and using the bikes to the beach were great! The neighborhood is nice and super quiet. I like the outdoor sitting areas in the back, I would take a nap out there if there was a recliner :)

Over all I would say we enjoyed staying there very much!

Thank you Mike and Chanti!

Fantastic holiday. The house is amazing, and in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

After a long journey from the UK, it was great that the house was easy to get to from LAX, easy to find, and felt so welcoming and homely. Mike and Chanti seem to have thought of everything to make your stay extra special! Having the bikes was fantastic - we cycled to the beach almost every morning - it's less than 2 miles on a flat and well maintained cycle path by the river. Once at the beach there are miles and miles of beach cycle ways to explore. The beach parking pass was a great touch - the local beaches are fantastic. There's beach equipment for use in the garage (beach chairs, surf boards, parasol etc) which made the beach days even better. The house itself is spacious, well maintained and has everything you need (and more besides) - including two very large fridge/freezers and 2 barbecues. There are loads of stores and restaurants etc. nearby, with a Trader Joe store a 5 minute walk away. The onsite pools are great - we spent a couple of days there. They were never too busy and for a lot of the time we had a pool to ourselves. They were very clean and well maintained. The tennis courts were a nice bonus. I'd recommend walking out to the nearby parks (adjacent to the river). The two outside areas of the house became our second home - we had breakfast every morning in the larger area, and spent most late evenings in the atrium. As well as being close to the beaches, it's easy to get around everywhere else LA has to offer. We covered central LA, Hollywood, Universal Studios, Magic Mountain theme park, 2 water parks. shopping malls and most of the LA beaches. Journey and travel times were always reasonable - being close to the I405 interstate meant easy travel. The sun shone brightly every day and the temperature was perfect. The temperature dropped in the evening meaning the house was very comfortable to sleep - no need for air-con. Lots of helpful information was provided in various folders which proved really useful in helping us get the best out of our holiday.

Me and my family had a wonderful holiday, and I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking to holiday in LA. Thank you Mike and Chanti for letting us stay in your wonderful home, and making our holiday so special.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write one of the best reviews we have received this summer. We worked so hard this summer some times we wonder why so it is very gratifying to see a review like this, it makes all the hard work worth it. We really do appreciate this, may people think we are a hotel or some huge company but it is really just a small crew working hard to offer a wonderful experience to families. We hope you come again and again thank you. Mike and Chanti

Perfect holiday house, well equipped, nice community pool close to the house

  • 5 of 5

The house was as described and perfect for us (4 adults, 5 kids). The real plus was that it was very well equipped in order to facilitate our stay

- kitchen: lots of cups / glasses / plates, etc + basic elements to cook (salt, pepper, butter, jam...) + dishwasher and dishwashing product + towels

- baby cot

- for the beach: plenty of beach towels, toys, 3 body boards (it was very funny to try them! Thank you!), beach chairs

So it was great that we didn't have to buy stuff in order to be able to live in the house.

The other plus were that one of the community pools was 3 minute walk from the house and that there was a parking pass for all Californian state parks, so we used it for Huntington beach and Crystal Cove near Newport Beach (otherwise the fees are 15 USD per day). Perhaps, a good thing would be to have a second pass (as we had 2 cars).

Regarding the location, the house is 1.5 mile from the closest beach. As we were with toddlers, we were not able to go there by bike nor foot, we had to take the car.

There is a supermarket and some restaurants 5 minute walk from the house. We tried the Thai and Pizza restaurants and they were both very good!

I recommend this house.
