Lani Oli Hale

The Lani Oli Hale is a magical jungle retreat cottage. Built up high on a hill that overlooks the mountains and jungles of Wainiha Valley it offers visitors a rare glimpse into the world of yesteryear Hawaii.
The space
The Lani Oli Hale is built up on a hillside. It is built on pillars over a large outdoor lanai area. It has surround windows with screens and louvers that can be opened to allow optimum airflow from the trade winds.The windows look out over the mountain, valley and jungles. On the lower level of the home.. built onto the back there is an ohana unit. It functions privately and separately from the Lani Ol with its own entrance, living areas, lanai , outdoor shower etc.. The owner (or onsite caretaker if owner is away) lives in this separate Ohana cottage and is available to assist with home and island activity questions or planning. There is onsite laundry services. The owner or caretaker does the laundry for you

You will be renting the of the Lani Oli Hale The sign above the door says Red Ginger which is its English name from days gone by. . It is about 1500 sq feet of space and has two bedrooms, a living room, a full kitchen, an enclosed lanai inside and an outdoor lanai outside.., a full bathroom inside and an outdoor shower.

location is great for a peaceful north shore vacation. beautiful grounds and views. there were some minor issues that if corrected would have made this a better stay (light bulbs out, cleaner windows to enjoy the views, not enough silverware, no general purpose cleaner for wiping off the counters). beds were great. host was friendly and communicated well.

If you notice anything like a light bulb out please let us know as we can correct that for you . There are also extra light bulbs in a drawer in the kitchen . There is silverware for 8 or more persons.. If you feel you need more please let us know and we can supply more. There are cleaners under the kitchen sink and under the the bathroom sink as well. One again if you are in need of anything and can't find it we are very happy to help you find it or provide it if it isn't there, The windows are cleaned frequently. However the rains can challenge

Private area surrounding property in the jungle. Spectacular views and beautiful grounds. Full of beautiful plants and critters. Frogs geckos lizards and a variety of birds. Close to everything we were doing. Owner was very helpful with suggestions and guidance on what was near by.

Home and garden in the jungle of Wainiha Canyon were magical beyond words. A realHawaii wilderness experience. The host was friendly and helpful. No need to go anywhere else really, except maybe a nearby beach.

Cell service is spotty even with WiFi so it’s a little hard to contact the host. Over all would recommend, very neat place to stay.

It was a pleasure to host Karl and his companion. It is a large property and I stay there in a separate cottage on the property . I'm available to assist guests should they have any island questions or issues . We have a back up internet service with Starlink so if anyone is having connection issues they can also switch to Starlink.

Stunning! There's really no other way to describe this magical, incredibly well-kept and cared for home. The views out of the windows are incredible. The vibe is tranquil. The gardens are gorgeous. Tucked away down a dirt road, you feel remote and embedded in nature, but at the end of the street there's a lovely market for snacks and a yummy coffee shop, plus you're just 15 minutes outside of Hanalei. It was our first time on the island, so we had quite a few things that we wanted to see...but we left wishing we could have spent even more time just relaxing here! Dawn is such a kind and generous host. We hope to stay again someday!

Amazing, unique stay at Lani Oli Hale!!! You truly soak in the serene quiet and beauty this area of Kauai is known for. Because this home sits on the 2nd floor in lush mountain jungle, the jaw-dropping panoramic views from this open-concept retreat will take your breath away. Property has lots to explore - colorful gardens, peaceful lanai, bamboo forest trail, rippling creek. Neighborhood encourages quiet to enjoy the sounds of wildlife & soft rains that briefly (& frequently) pass through. Big outdoor shower area (indoor shower too). Modern kitchen amenities. COMFY bed! While not exactly private (owner stays on 1st floor, neighbors nearby) it FELT private.Things to note (unless they're deal-breakers, don't let them deter you). Road to house is narrow & rough, no cell service, but good Wifi at house. Very steep driveway, rough & slippery; parking only below, caution walking up & down from house! No AC, but levered windows and fans keep it breezy and very comfy! Only got a little stuffy in the bedroom in the afternoon (early July). Could use some minor repairs and has the typical rust and buildup that comes with the tropical air but still clean & tidy. Screens kept mosquitos out, but they are in the area. Ants are typical but not bothersome. Most beach supplies dirty but found some usable. If you want resort-shiny-&-perfect, lots of tourist-crowded, corporate options elsewhere. But you won't get a more unique & peaceful paradise like this anywhere else.

Magical

From the moment we drove up the hill the place was like a fairy tale. The house was tucked away from everything and all you could see were plants and all you could hear was the river and nature. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a nice secluded spot.

Perfect tranquil respite

Such a wonderful house and spot. The house is elegantly furnished and had everything we needed, and the groundskeeper does a phenomenal job of maintaining the surrounding gardens. Very quiet location, but easy drive into Hanalei. Woke up to songbirds every morning. Dawn was great with checking in to make sure we had everything we needed and with providing recommendations for the area. Truly everything we'd hoped for.

Gorgeous home. Photos truly don’t do it justice. Very spacious and airy, beautiful views of the jungle. Quiet, just some minimal noise from the surrounding neighborhood but truly so serene. I’m so glad we stayed here rather than in Princeville or somewhere more crowded. This was a retreat at the end of each busy day. Steep climb up the hill to the entrance so be aware of this if you have limited mobility. We loved the ourdooor shower so much. The primary bed was VERY comfortable. No A/C was not an issue as there were many fans provided and the tradewinds really did cool down the space. Overall I can’t say enough good. Would definitely stay here again!

Peaceful and beautiful secluded property

Dawn was an incredibly gracious host. Can't say enough about her warmth and kindness during, and after our stay! She has everything you need for going to the beach (chairs, coolers, umbrella, etc). The property is beautiful, a winding grassy path up the hill and (the most spectacular) views everywhere. Beds were very comfortable, all the linens and extras you'd need. Depending on the season, it can be hot during the day, but the evenings cool off nicely. The location was great for us, hiking Kalalau trail and visiting Tunnels and other beaches nearby. Wainiha Country Market right down the road and is a cute spot for a snack or shave ice -- but good to grab your groceries in Princeville or Lihu'e before coming. Thank you Dawn for a magical stay!

Lovely jungle cottage

Beautiful location in the Hawaiian jungle. The only noises at night are the wildlife and the water, making it a soothing and restful experience. The kitchen is spacious and easy to cook in. It is worth noting that there is no climate control -- which was unneeded on our visit as the river valley keeps things cool and temperate.We booked last minute as part of our Kaua'i exploration and found it to be a true oasis from the usual resorts and hotels available. A short 10 minutes to the Waipo shuttle stop for Hāʻena park, if you are unable to score one of the extremely limited parking passes. Dawn was a lovely host and very communicative about the small quirks of the property and very knowledgeable about the area.would love to stay again!

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Urlaub im Lani Oli Hale. Die Lage des Haus liegt wunderschön eingebettet mitten im Regenwald. Das Haus war sehr schön eingerichtet Sehr grosses und bequemes Bett. Küche voll ausgestattet. Outdoordusche sehr zu empfehlen Hübsche Terrasse mit Blick auf den Dschungel und die Berge. Dawn ist eine herzliche Gastgeberin. Vielen lieben Dank Dawn.
