We absolutely loved our stay at this adorable historic beach home! The location was perfect with beautiful and easy access to the beach and ocean. Everything about the house was charming, and it was so special knowing it was built by the owners’ great-grandparents. Blair and her sweet pup Sailor made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We hope to come back again next year. Highly recommend — thank you, Blair

We had a great week! The house is in the perfect location. You can’t beat walking off the porch and onto the beach. Blair is a wonderful host and a very kind person. We will definitely stay here again.

Incredible

From start to finish our stay was incredible. We arrived and the house is right on the beach. Sat on the deck every morning and watched the sunrise. Walk off the deck right onto the beach. If kids hot tired of the beach they could walk back to the house, get a snack, watch tv, or whatever. Close to shopping, and supermarket. Ice cream and shaved ice. Incredible dinner options all within minutes. This was by far the best vacation I've had in a long time. Thank you Blair. Can't wait to do it again.

Girls week

We stayed in July, this was our second time staying here. The place is great. Walk right off the great back deck onto the beach. Blair is awesome to deal with. Highly recommend.

Family vacation 2024

What can I say, this is the 2nd time we have stayed at this house and WE LOVED IT. The house is the perfect get away for families that enjoy a quaint, home away from home. The house is beautiful inside and out. Plenty of room for the 6 of us. The view of the beach and ocean from the back porch as you rock back and forth on one of the 4 rocking chairs available can’t be beat. So many people leaving the beach said he had the perfect place, I couldn’t agree more. Blair welcomed us with open arms and was always available for any questions we had. Such an amazing woman!! If you’re looking for a place close to everything, a killer view of the morning sunrise, and a step away from the beach then this is the place for you. We cannot wait to stay again. Thank you for allowing us to make our vacation 2024 a huge success. Oh, The ice cream cookie sandwiches are and were amazing 😉 …..thank you😀

Classic Beach Cottage

We had the pleasure of staying at this charming oceanfront cottage over Easter weekend. The rocking chairs on the front porch was perfect for relaxing and soaking n the surroundings. This was our favorite spot to enjoy each others company and the ocean view. The location was excellent. It was close to everthing and was also in walking distance to some restaurants. We will definately be staying here again.

Perfect beachfront

We truly enjoyed the house during our stay although we didn’t have beach weather. Blair was very communicative when we had requests. Lovely home and great location. I would definitely rent again, I just hope we have better weather next time.

Wonderful Cottage

We’ve stayed in the OBX for many, many years and this cottage is absolutely wonderful. It’s right on the beach and has a great view. It’s an old Nags Head cottage and brought back many memories. Blair was a wonderful host. Highly recommend this cute and comfortable beach house.

Old School Nags Head

I've been coming to the Outer Banks (Southern Shores) since I was born and it's sad that it has changed so much since then. I'm so glad that Sand Joy has survived in tact over all of these years! It truly is an Old School Nags Head treasure! Blair is a fantastic and accomodating host and I look forward to visiting again next year!

3rd Stay, The Best Yet!

Summer 2023

This was our second summer staying in the Sand Joy cottage. We love the sunrises on the porch with our coffee. Blair is super sweet and, of course, we can’t leave out Sailor! We have booked it again for next summer and are looking forward to it already!

Best Nags Head Vacation to Date

Great location, great view, great beds, great outdoor shower. We stayed in Samd Joy's beach road house in 2022 and eagerly awaited our visit to the "main house" this summer. It was worth the wait a thousand times over. If you are looking for an old-school beach front home in Nags Head within walking distance to ice cream and mini-golf, this place is it. Just left this morning and I am already looking forward to a return visit in 2024.
