About Wendy Adelman

We are a family of 5 who purchased this home so that our children would have access to the gorgeous woods, rivers and lakes around here and learn about the rich CA gold history. We have had so many wonderful family memories here in our warm and welcoming home and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Wendy Adelman purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Wendy Adelman chose Gold Country & High Sierra

Calaveras County offers a wonderful mix of gorgeous natural resources as well as a rich history. There is so much to do and see here.

What makes this cabin unique

Relaxing on the wrap-around -deck listening to nature with a good book in hand. Visiting all the gorgeous mountain lakes and streams. The mountain biking is superb. We love bringing our kids to Pinebrook Lake which offers the nicest sand around, swim platforms, inner tubes, and flush toilets! We also love how close the house is to the upper mountain lakes such as Alpine Lake.

Great cabin for families and kids!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin at the end of January 2017 for our family of 4 (two kids, age 2 and 5) and my brother's family (two kids, age 2 and 5). The house itself was great, very clean and had all the amenities we needed, even sheets and towels. There were plenty of spare mattresses so it sleeps a lot of people beyond just what the beds offer. The location is great, at the end of a cul de sac and has a great sledding hill just in the front yard. Since it had snowed before we arrived, it was the perfect location for our family with young kids, since we didn't even have to leave the house to go to any sledding hills. The kids played outside and sledded and made snowmen, and had a ton of fun.

One note is that this particular street does not get plowed when it snows. The road leading down to the cul de sac is also downhill, and when there's snow and ice, it can be hard to make it down and back up unless you have chains or an AWD. The driveway and pathways outside of the house were also not plowed, so we did that ourselves using some shovels that were provided. My brother's minivan couldn't park in the driveway without getting stuck, so he ended up parking just outside the driveway. And when we left the house, my brother definitely needed to put on the chains to make it up the road.

Other than the lack of plowing/shoveling, we had a great time here. Definitely recommend!

Amazing beautiful home in an incredible location surrounded by open space!

  • 5 of 5

Of all the homes we've been fortunate enough to rent, this is the first time we know that we want to return. This home is beautiful, with intricate and rustic interior design that is both beautiful and relaxing. The attention to detail is quite honestly impressive! The kitchen is stocked for people who love to cook, and I had no problem creating simultaneous meat and vegetarian-eater meals. Everything in the home is user friendly- appliances, internet, tv/cable/roku, heater, furnace. We slipped right into life there, like we'd been there before.

The house easily handles every weather- a bunch of snow when we got there allowed us sledding down the fire road on the property behind the house, the next two days of rain were pitch perfect listening to rain music on the roof without mud everywhere around us, and when the sun came out we were treated to clear starry night skies. Being able to walk right out the back every morning with coffee and explore the woods was fabulous! It was an easy drive to snow play and hiking to alpine lake. We all took turns sitting on the porch upstairs in the rocking chair(dry even in the pouring rain!), which became my favorite quiet past time. The only thing difficult about being here was having to leave. Thank you so much for sharing your home!

You have found the perfect rental!

  • 5 of 5

When you rent a home from someone else, you expect there to be at least one aspect you don't like. That was not the case here. The house was clean, the location quiet, the beds were comfortable with warm comfy blankets, the shower pressure was good...

There were a lot of board games and puzzles for us to play with the kids. All the ones we used still had all their pieces. Plus toys for varying ages. My two year old found quite a bit.

We explored moaning caverns, Natural Bridges (It's a short hike to a river that runs through the earth, you can swim through a "cave" to the other side), Calaveras Big Trees and then we also drove up Hwy 4 further east to see the beauty that is Mosquito Lake and stopped at Lake Alpine on the way back for kayaking and a picnic.

Wendy was also great to work with an obviously an experienced renter.

We felt right at home as soon as walked in. We will be back for sure!

Great Cabin

We stayed at the cabin for 4 relaxing days during an extended weekend. Cabin clean and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Plenty of utensils and board games to spend the day. The grounds were great too. Secluded and quiet.

Summer fun at the cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was great! My husband and I along with our daughter, son in law and three young grandchildren stayed for a week and really enjoyed ourselves. The cabin accommodated our group wonderfully especially with 2 bathrooms. There was plenty of room to spread out and we felt it very safe for the children ages 2, 4 and 7. This cabin is very clean and updated providing everything you need. It's very nicely decorated!

We spent a day swimming and relaxing at Pinebrook Lake. Great place with kids! We went to White Pines Lake several times for fishing. Our grandsons all caught their first fish (and many more). The Blue Gill along the shore were plentiful and the shoreline safe for the kids. They learned about catch and release. There is a nice playground there that the kids enjoyed too. We also hiked at Big Trees State Park and Lake Alpine. We took a picnic each day and enjoyed our time outdoors. The weather was beautiful with bright blue sky and sweet pine scent.

I would recommend this cabin to all my friends and family.
