About Cindy Marks

I grew up in a large close knit family. I never saw the ocean until sweet 16 and fell in love. I knew I had to have a house at the beach. This is my retirement home when that day finally comes. Until then, please enjoy yourselves and take good care of my beautiful home. I love to have fun, go to the beach, relax and watch movies and do puzzles while I am down there. My three dogs are my constant companions and it is nice having a place that I am able to bring my 'kids'. I love to read books on the beach, shower outside and have happy hour on the deck. Love to have fun, play yahtzee, and go to Penn State and Steeler games. Enjoy my home and thank you for visiting my site!

Cindy Marks purchased this house in 2004

Why Cindy Marks chose Eastern Shore

I love Ocean City, Maryland as well as the boardwalk. It is a wonderful family-oriented town with lots to do and plenty of nightlife. I was born in Maryland and love the freedom Maryland beaches allow. I wanted a house that was very comfortable, with recliners, lots of TV's and upscale amenities for my renters and their pets.

What makes this house unique

I love to take the dogs for walks in the neighborhood, get in the hot tub, do puzzles, play games, watch movies. The fireplace is lovely in the colder months. The furnishings are very comfortable and there are many amenities in both the house and the surrounding area. Boating, riding Jetski's, mini golf, casino, keno, beaches, and of course Seacrets! You will never be bored in Ocean City!

Spacious, serene and comfy

  • 4 of 5

My husband I rented this home for a long weekend and we loved the location. Not right on the strip of Ocean City but still convenient enough to get back and forth and there are several places to shop and eat within minutes of the home as well. The home is great for a couple, a family or a group of friends. And don't forget to bring your fur babies! The owner was kind, easily reachable and friendly. We would definitely stay here again and would bring the pups!

Owner is terrible, place dirty

  • 1 of 5

I tried to cancel my reservations as my father was ill and I did not want to leave for vacation. I unfortunately paid her in full way before the full amount was due (unexpected that my father's health would decline). She refused to cancel and refund my money( she had 3 months to find a new renter). I unfortunately, had no choice but go on vacation as I would lose my money (my father was home)...and the day I arrived my father went into the hospital. Needless to say I left early and the owner did not offer refunds or discounts (make a long story short...this was going on long before my arrival). Not only is she not compassionate, the place was very dirty and smelly(mildew?). My dog (protected by front-line) got fleas (he's never had fleas in the 6 years of his life...ever). I would never recommend this place to anyone. I have rented in this area for over 15 years. This is my first and only bad review. Good luck folks. Far from luxurious.

Owner's Response: I am sorry about your Dad. I followed the lease to the letter. I tried to find other renters. I have lost two immediate family members recently, and I am very compassionate. My house is not dirty. I never heard a peep about anything wrong. I am sorry your dog got fleas, but there are NO FLEAS in my house. I hope you find peace.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming here for many years and the house feels like a home away from home. It is well appointed, clean and convenient to Assateague State Park, OC and the quaint town of Berlin with many great shops and restaurants. A bonus is that we can bring our dog and she loves the fenced in back yard to explore. In a very quiet neighborhood, it is a great place for long walks, bike rides and relaxing in the sun at the marina with a good book! We enjoy spending time at the house with the many TVs and the hot tub as well. Looking forward to another visit next fall!

Gorgeous place!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed there this past weekend and it truly is a very nice house to stay in!!! After going to the boardwalk on the first night we realized just how glad we were that we were not staying directly on the beach, but rather in this beautiful house in a very peaceful, quiet neighborhood! It's just a short distance from the boardwalk which made this stay even nicer because it was not to far and yet we didn't have to deal with all the noise that staying on the boardwalk would have had. On Saturday and Sunday it rained pretty heavily and it was nice just relaxing at the house and enjoying catching up on movies and such on the the big screen television's! Even though it rained we didn't feel like our vacation was ruined in any way because we enjoyed our surroundings in this beautiful place. We bought our dogs and we didn't have to worry about our dogs getting out of the fenced in yard and I think they enjoyed it ALMOST as much as we did. It's nice to stay in a place that has just about everything you need to make your stay so very enjoyable, yet feel like you are at home too! The owner has a lot of information available for you to choose a place to eat, entertain, etc while there along with games and puzzles to do while there. This is and will be the first place I'd check out when going back to OCM as it is what a true vacation place should be!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. I am always happy that other people enjoy my retirement home as much as I do. I try to provide every amenity, especially the NFL ticket during football season. Thank you and I hope you and your family can return!

Neglected and Dirty Property

  • 1 of 5

I am sorry to have to give a bad review. This is a first, but I depend on the reviews of others when making my rental decisions and I am grateful for words of warning from fellow vacationers. My three friends and I rented this house Aug 30-Sep 4, 2016 and brought our three dogs along, for our annual beach vacation. The house is well decorated and appointed, but sadly neglected, dirty and smelly. The owner has been pocketing the $150 a head pet fees ($450 in our case), not cleaning the urine-soaked carpeting between renters, and told us, when we contacted her on arrival, that it was our bad luck to have rented at the end of the season, prior to her annual carpet cleaning. The fridge and freezer were full of half-eaten food, the kitchen trash can was wet, rugs were draped over the deck railings, dust bunnies and cobwebs were liberally distributed throughout the house. The mattresses and pillows are ancient, stained and uncomfortable. The dishwasher is broken. It needs to be re-anchored to the counter, so the door will latch. Rather than repair it, the owner repeatedly has each renter call the handy man to wrestle it back into place, so it will latch. There is a large, floor model air conditioner in the loft which failed to cool the space, takes up the entire bathroom, and leaked soaking the carpet and sending water dripping through the downstairs bathroom. On day four, it caused the power to short out with a loud popping sound and a puff of smoke that scared us half to death. The bulbs,15-20 feet up in the loft ceilings are burnt out. We were told to feel free to change them ourselves. The DVD was inoperable due to a lost remote and lost instructions. The hot tub was cleaned a day or two after we arrived. Thankfully, no one had been inclined to use it. The discarded tampon the dog found in the back yard was another unwelcome surprise. We spent our vacation waiting for the handyman four times and listening to the owner complain about the previous renters. The problems we contacted her about were no surprise to the owner. She knew about most of the problems prior to our arrival. Stay away! There are plenty of lovely rental properties available. This isn’t one of them.

Owner's Response: I am sorry you felt the need to leave a completely false and untrue review. I stayed at MY RETIREMENT HOME immediately after you and this is just malicious. I do leave condiments for other renters, that much is true. After an 8 day stay, you try to get your money back. After 12 years of renting my home, I have never had a response like this. I have way more class than to respond to your allegations.
