Have you ever wanted to wake up on a farm with horses just out the back door or collect fresh farm eggs for breakfast? When you stay at The Barn at the Funky Chicken Farm, you can get just that! We love sharing our love of hobby farming with others and will show you the ropes if you are interested. If not, no worries! There is a huge covered porch where you can sip your morning coffee and watch from afar. A fire pit is located just off the barn where you can sit and enjoy the sounds of the country. In the winter, you will be able to curl up on the sofa while the wood burning stove heats the main areas of the barn. It’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy what country living can do for your soul!

We had a nice overnight stay here to see some friends who live in Lafayette. The property is lovely! There was a lot of rain while we were there but still had a lot of space to walk the dog and let her explore the barn. Th beds were very comfortable and there was a cozy reading and hangout area. Overall it was perfect for what we needed!

The place was just as the listing described. Big open rooms with lots of space. It was perfect for when we brought our 2 big breed dogs with us. The farm setting was perfect. Lots of animals to greet us and to love on while there.

Quiet and relaxing location. Accommodations were nice, comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. The unit is spacious and was very clean. I gave 4 stars on cleanliness only because the fridge had leftover items and there were 2 open containers of ice cream in the freezer I’m guessing from previous guests and the fridge looked like the inside had not been cleaned recently. We enjoyed our overnight stay

The barn is on a farm. If you love seeing chickens, roosters, ducks, dogs, cats, and horses, then this is the place for you. The hosts are very nice and they respond quickly to any concerns. Everything you need is 15-30 minutes away.

Relaxing Stay

The owner was awesome really quick response and was helpful. The place was really nice and the fact that right by your door, you could see the chickens, the ducks and horses. The porch was really nice. Had some nice rocking chairs and every once in a while some really nice cats would come and visit you. Would definitely come again.

Getaway but still close

The property was great. It was close enough to enjoy my daughter's graduation from Purdue University and far enough away to not feel overwhelmed. It was great cooking a home cooked meal and socializing with family in a relaxed environment.

Relaxing Getaway close to Purdue

Very spacious and comfortable accommodations. Easy drive to Purdue. Definitely recommend over a hotel and especially for those looking for more than one bedroom. We will return again.

Our second stay at The Barn. Overall, a good experience. The small farm setting is nice, as you get to see and interact with a bunch of animal characters (cats, hens, rooster, horses). Comfy beds and living space. Easy parking.During our stay this time the kitchen was a little overrun with ants which got into our food stores, and the fridge had out of date leftovers from prior guests. Silverware was abundant, accept for dining knives. Recommendation to the hosts would be to clean out the fridge or make clear that food found there is good to consume. We did not experience these issues the first time we stayed, and will likely stay again.Our dog enjoyed the space, the pet friendliness is great. If you stay, be sure to check you don't have any of the farm cats stowing away in your car before you drive away! We had three felines determined to investigate the interior of our vehicle :-)

Thank you for the info! We have hired someone to clean and will pass along that the fridge needs more attention. We do go in about once a week to check everything so I will make sure this is on our list as well!

I grew up just outside of Indianapolis and came to Purdue in 1999 to attend college. I never left! I’ve lived in a few different places throughout the county but something was always missing. In October 2021, I came across this property and fell in love with it.

The opportunity to host came about after we built our home. We moved out of the barn and into our home in February 2023. It was then we renovated and updated a few things in the barn to make it more functional for family and friends. We enjoy sharing our property and the serene atmosphere with others who just want a nice, relaxing getaway.

My fiancée and I have 3 girls between the 2 of us so giving them a simpler life was important for us. We want to instill the love of nature and hard work to reach their dreams. The oldest enjoys sharing her knowledge of horses and will bring her Quarter horse out for an up close meet & greet.

Our day jobs differ from our home life. I am a special education teacher at a local elementary school and my fiancee runs a lawn care business out of the garage in the barn. When we are home, you will find us working our horses, tending to the chickens and ducks as well as continuing to turn the property into our dream home.

Why they chose this property

Situated on the southwest end of Tippecanoe county, we are close to everything but just far enough away that you may think twice about leaving. The neighborhood is quiet and tucked away between wood areas and farm fields.

We love being able to be outside and the privacy the neighborhood provides between homes.

What makes this property unique

Our property offers the unique experience of hobby farm living. Whether you want to sit and just enjoy the atmosphere or jump in and help, we can make that happen. Our guests have the opportunity to learn basics in equine care and groundwork to keep our horses happy and healthy. When you stay on our property, you can help feed the chickens as well as collect eggs.
