About the property

Studio, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This unique brick loft lies in the heart of the historic commercial district, ten steps off of Bay Street. The quaint porch entry-way and interior brick walls provide the welcome retreat that makes ‘Oyster Bed’s’ individuality shine. You are one block from the scenic Waterfront Park, and surrounded by the fine-dining restaurants of Plums, Saltus, Breakwater, Q On Bay, Wren, and Nippy's. Stroll down Bay Street, enjoying the many art galleries for which Beaufort is known, to the historic residential district, the Old Point, to see the beautiful antebellum homes, or drive twenty minutes to the beach at Hunting Island State Park. Come to Beaufort to relax and un-wind, watch the sun set, and experience why we love Beaufort so much!

Oyster Bed is fully furnished, featuring central air and heat, beautiful hard-wood floors, a 30” flat-screen TV, and high speed internet. The kitchenette has a mini-refrigerator/freezer, coffee-maker, microwave, silverware/dinnerware, and basic kitchen goods.

Great location and charming decor, but a small space.

  • 3 of 5

We have stayed at several places in Beaufort, SC, over the years. This time we wanted to be right in the Historic District so that we could walk to the first December weekend Christmas festivities. We chose this studio loft for its location, and the location was perfect. The decor was charming, but once we brought our suitcases and such inside, it was not so charming. A beautiful antique chest provided a place to hang some things, but no empty drawers meant that our suitcases had to be where they could serve as drawers. The bed was only a full size...which to most people now is just not big enough for two. The worse thing about it, though, was that one side was against the wall, making it almost impossible to make up in the mornings. The sheets were polyester and, if you are used to a high grade cotton, you will not be comfortable. The bathroom and shower are a good size, but has the worse lighting ever. I could not see to put on my make-up! The refrigerator is a nice size. The kitchen and bath supplies were very nice. We had trouble getting on the Wi-Fi. The owner apologized because he had not updated the new code when he sent us the information via email. However, the code he gave us did not work, either. When the weekend was over he learned that there was a problem with the connection next door in his work space and fixed it. No problem after that. The heat & air is above the entry door and is very quiet, but we seemed to always be either too hot or too cold. It was difficult to regulate. One thing that would be such a help would be a ceiling fan!! Also, be aware that this loft is accessed only by outside stairs which could be a problem for some guests. It is also across the street from a very popular bar/restaurant that opens at 5 pm and is extremely noisy...sometimes into the wee morning hours. There is no view from the loft, except for the rooftops across the way and no outside space to enjoy at all. Having said all that, you are only 1/2 of a block to Bay Street and just behind that is the River Walk. The location could not be better. If you are there just for a weekend, it will serve you well. However, a week there and it got really, really, small! I think that every VRBO owner should stay in their own VRBO before renting it out. Bring your suitcases and everything you will need for a weekend or week-long stay...and make it work. No cheating. Then make any adjustments that you think are needed!

Great space for a single or a couple on the move. Couldn't be a better location in town. Quiet with access to all in town on foot. Clean quiet and comfortable.

CUTE AS A PUPPY

I will start out by saying u get what u r promised and more, very clean and so quaint. We loved it. Can't say enough about the owners, very helpful and nice people. Whenever visiting Beaufort we will be calling them for our stay. Location is wonderful for those looking for walking distance to all the fun downtown. Its perfect for two, bed very comfortable and provides plenty of linen and kitchen , bathroom needs. If u get thirsty a fun pub right across the street, and don't worry noise is not a factor. Would recommend highly.
