Michelle is an avid gardener, and lover of food and wine. I found my paradise in Chile, where there are the freshest organic vegetables, outstanding wines and some of the most delicious olive oil that I have ever tasted. And what could be better than being able to cultivate many of these riches on my own property. My passion is enjoying a healthy and fulfilling life, living in a stimulating environment, with access to nature and delicious fresh food. For many years I had traveled extensively in Europe and Asia. When I came to Chile in 2009, to visit Easter Island, I stopped in Santiago for a few days, which I discovered is a very green, modern, cosmopolitan city. I took a drive to the countryside to have lunch at Santa Winery in the Maipo Valley, and fell in love. Fortunately, I found a property for sale in the Maipo Valley, which I was able to purchase. And Casa Ishi was born.
Michelle purchased this House in 2009
Why Michelle chose Santiago Province
Chile is unlike any other country in South America. Because of its natural beauty, high literacy rate, and fairly stable political situation, it can be best described as the Switzerland of the south. Chile is a paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Within the country, one can find a diverse variety of landscapes including vineyards, volcanoes, deserts, beaches, lakes, glaciers and forests. Nature, culture, food and people just are few of the reasons to visit Chile.
What makes this House unique
The Mediterranean climate is unbeatable. At the Casa Ishi Villa we are minutes away from some the best wineries in the world. A half hour from the Andes mountains, where there is a wide range of outdoor activity to suit your needs. And less than an hour from the center of Santiago and the international airport. It is hard to find a more convenient location.Only 40 minutes from Santiago, this year-round tourist destination is known for its picturesque scenery, multiple renowned vineyards, and flora and fauna. Pirque is one of the most beautiful places in the Santiago Metropolitan Region.

The property.... Shangri-La; the hosts.. ..amazing
WE COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR MORE!!!!!
From our host's wave hello, to their wave good-bye several days later, we felt that we were in paradise. The grounds of the property are large and beautifully planted..Our hosts shared their vegetables and flowers with us.
Our accommodations were spotless and comfortable.
And beyond all that our hosts were so warm and welcoming and so helpful.
It was an experience we will long remember!!!!
My husband and I stayed at Casa Ishi for our last four nights in Chile. It was about an easy 50 minute drive from the airport. We absolutely loved the house! It was private, beautifully furnished, clean and the kitchen had all the cookware and utensils we needed to make meals. The house is situated above the river and surrounded by the beautiful gardens on this property. We woke up every morning to the sound of the river and the incredible birds. We really enjoyed having coffee in the morning and wine in the evening at the table and chairs (under the grape vine covered trellis) in the garden. It was very peaceful and quiet and we took many walks around the garden so we could see all the fruit trees and beautiful flowers. This is a great location and everyday we took day trips, went to some of the wineries and also went to Pomaire to shop for pottery.
The owners were wonderful and made us feel very welcome! They took good care of us and provided information related to local stores and restaurants. We went to the restaurant at Concha y Toro and had lunch at La Vaquita Echa and would recommend both for dinner or lunch. The local grocery stores were great, well stocked and we found everything we needed to make our own meals as well. We went to Santiago at the beginning of our trip and we are so glad that instead of going back to Santiago, we decided to stay at Casa Ishi. We will definitely be coming back!
Beautiful property and hosts
Michelle and Teiji have a beautiful property approximately an hour from Santiago. The grounds are perfectly manicured with lovely flowers and fruit trees, and the two houses are artfully decorated and well maintained. There was always the sound of running water from the nearby river, providing a wonderful backdrop. They were both fantastic hosts and recommended several winieries nearby to visit. Would recommend to anyone looking for a respite just outside Santiago.
I LOVE CASA ISHI!
I LOVE Casa Ishi!!!! It’s the perfect hideaway in the middle of it all - a stone’s throw from some really fantastic vineyards and beautiful mountain vistas. Our favorite was a day spent at the nearby Santa Rita Vineyards where we had a fantastic lunch at the historic Dona Paula Restaurant - amazing scenery, unbelievable pre-Columbian museum and a delicious meal to boot. Returning home to Casa Ishi was a pleasure - sipping our newly purchased vintages under a trellis covered in vines with ripe grapes for the picking. Great location, beautiful grounds, immaculate and comfortable rooms, and the owners are the consummate hosts. Can’t wait to return!!!
Romantic cottage on gorgeous estate with amenities
My husband and I stayed in the smaller one-bedroom house at Casa Ishi. It was lovely and beautifully well tended—with lovely details from the dishes and cutlery, to the bottle of wine awaiting our arrival, to small bottles of shampoo and soap for us to use. The owners are wonderfully attentive, making sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay and a variety of day trips in the gorgeous surrounding valley. The whole thing was a treat, and I would love to visit again!
It's Paradise Here!
The villa and property are absolutely gorgeous. The guest house has been beautifully renovated and was very comfortable. The gardens were in full bloom as well as many of the fruit trees. We even picked fruit to have with our breakfast every day. We were truly in paradise!
The location of Casa Ishi can't be beaten. It is centrally located to everything there is to do in the Maipo Valley. We took a couple of day trips to Santigo, visited several world-class wineries, went on an incredible full-day trail ride, and rafted down the Maipo River.
I will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend Casa Ishi to anyone!

Only 40 minutes from Santiago, this year-round tourist destination is known for its picturesque scenery, multiple renowned vineyards, and flora and fauna. Pirque is one of the most beautiful places in the Santiago Metropolitan Region.
The “Haciendas” (or farms), which form part of the town of Pirque, go back to the times immediately after the Spanish conquest. At first, the lands were used for raising cattle and farming. Later, after the construction of "La Sirena" canal in 1834 – ordered by Ramón Subercaseaux – Pirque’s surroundings began to change. His son-in-law, Melchor de Concha y Toro, married to Emiliana Subercaseaux, brought the wine industry to Pirque from the Bordeaux region of France.
Pirque has kept its beauty intact with “little” impact from urban development, thanks to strict regulations limiting growth. The town’s fertile lands, ideal for wineries such as "Concha y Toro", "El Principal", and "William Févre", among others. Pirque has thousands of square kilometers of hills, rivers, natural parks, mountains, and a diversity of attractive flora and fauna. It is called an island because the “Maipo” river surrounds it. Another river is the “Río Clarillo”, a natural reserve with many other beautiful sites.
