The large living room, kitchen, and dining area gives guests the feeling of being right at home. The 2- bedrooms each have their own bathroom/walk-in shower area as well as in-room Flat Screens, HDTV, DirecTV and their own AC’s. A great place for 2 couples or small family to have the privacy they want and the space they need to enjoy the Maui / Aloha Aku experience.

Blessed by kaunas, 'aloha aku' means the place that ‘gives love and kindness’. Formally known as Aikane Hale.

Aloha Aku Inn & Suites is a tucked away, one-of-a-kind vacation gem. Our luxury Beachfront estate has 4 beachfront one-bedroom suites and a garden view two-bedroom ohana. Each suite has a private entrance, separate living room, full kitchen and is like having your own condo at the beach in Maui. This special place is hidden behind a private, double gated entrance, lined with 700 ft. of lighted coconut palms that lure you into the feeling of leaving the world behind. But is still centrally placed in Kihei nearly all of the amenities you might desire.

Guests have described Aloha Aku as ‘the most tranquil and ultimate place for relaxation!' You can’t help but feel the peacefulness of Maui's beauty wash over you here. The beach out front of Aloha Aku is only accessible from Aloha Aku or the private neighboring homes and condos. As a result, the beach is underused and hardly traveled; sometimes it’s like having your own private beach.

Hidden behind the tallest mangrove forest in the state, Aloha Aku will pleasantly greet you with an extravaganza of natural Hawaiian beauty. Aloha Aku lulls you into a wondrous state of being, yet is in the ultimate location for access to the many conveniences in mid-Kihei. Aloha Aku is well situated to be your base of operations to explore the rest of the Maui island, just twenty minutes from the airport and are within easy walking distance of nearby groceries, shopping, pupu bars (appetizers), dozens of eateries, bars, car rentals, dive shops, and much more. When guests return to the property they say it ‘feels like home’. Some never leave the property during their visit, happy to just lounge around and suntan from their private lanai or on the beach out front!

Your hosts, Charlene (Maui-girl) and Gary (G-kane) - (pronounced ka-nay), have upgraded all the Suites to include air conditioning, ceiling fans, free high speed Wi-Fi, free designated on property parking, key codes for everything (no keys or cards to worry about), flat screen HD TV's with DirecTV in the living room and in the separate bedrooms. Warm up a snack or make yourself a full meal in your Suite's fully equipped kitchen. Take a cool dip in the ili-ili (smooth) stone dipping pools or take an invigorating Jacuzzi while watching the stunning sunsets. In addition, there is a gas barbeque on site nestled between some acacia palm trees overlooking the State protected La'ie wetlands.

We can’t wait to host you and see your happy faces and hope that you find that Aloha Aku has the intimacy, amenities, and aloha to be your favorite luxury getaway. Maui is considered one of top vacation destinations in the world and after staying at Aloha Aku we are confident that you will have your own special reasons why!

The living room and kitchen were great for family or friend gathering but the lanai was unbelievable . The beds were comfy and th air conditioners were quiet and efficient. We loved the view of the pond. I liked the size of the bedrooms in the lower units better but the Ohana was truly the best option for us once my son arrived from law school... plenty of room to spread out.

Better than our high expectations!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely and well-maintained property, in the perfect location to find all that Maui has to offer. The complex is directly on a beautiful, sandy, west-facing beach which is visited by turtles regularly. The owners offer so many amenities including food for breakfast and snacks, and sports equipment and beach chairs that are in good working order.

The pools are lovely, and better than expected based on the pictures we had seen. All in all a great place in a great central Maui location.

Note: as of February 2017 you need a reservation to see sunrise on Haleakala. We did not know this, so I'm telling everyone!

A home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We arrived early and the room was already ready. We started in the suite which is roomy and has an awesome lanai and it is so quiet. The views are the greenery around the lanai. As much as we loved that we were very happy when we moved to the Hana suite. This one is smaller but it faces the ocean. Morning, evening, mid day the ocean is always just a glance away.

We made a lot of use of the kayaks, the snorkel gear, the chairs and the hot tub. We thought about using the golf clubs, but I don't do full courses and there are no par three so we managed to do without golf.

Linda, Wade, Jose, Char and Gary are there to make your vacation great. Any question or request was answered quickly and with a smile. I mentioned the tea was getting low and next day there was plenty to choose from. Coffee drinkers have lots of choices, always!!!

The rooms are clean, the grounds are maintained, the pool is all you need to sit and watch the sunset or read a book. The beach is a short walk across the grass and we spent plenty of time playing in the water, walking up and down the coast, paddling out and surfing back in. We found the double kayak a real tub and preferred the singles. Not many others used these so they were always there when we wanted to go out. Some days were calm and some windy, but never a bad day.

The first day there we saw the turtles who make their home along this stretch and then we saw a shark. The black dorsal fin moved back and forth off the beach for about 15 minutes, but that was the only time we saw one. The water was a little murky here most of the time, but we found other places to snorkel for the fish.

We enjoyed the cereal, fruit, yoghurt and baked goods for breakfast and grabbed some groceries from the Times market and Safeway and did our own cooking. The two nights we ate out we walked out to Na Lu's and Coconuts we were stuffed to the gills with very good food.

This location is very central to exploring all areas of the Island and we did just that. I left my book in the library for someone else and we found a few movies to pop into the DVD player as we were not big night life fans. We would rather take advantage of the early morning sunshine and get on the road or the beach.

We also enjoyed the bioluminescence on the beach at night, the quiet star gazing away from all the light pollution, the frogs/toads on the lawn at night and watching the kids Ukulele class on the beach. So much to enjoy just steps from your door.

Really fun!

  • 4 of 5

Nice, clean, comfortable! Loved the paddleboards, kayaks, body boards and turtles the most! Two bathrooms with showers was handy!

Couldn't get music to play....futon had an issue we had to fix (told the grounds keeper) .... and got locked out twice because the batteries in the keypad went bad.

Overall, really fun girls' vacation! !

Owner's Response: So sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you...we were volunteering at my old high school. The music is working, we would have been happy to have showed you if we had known. Our handy man is great at helping with fixing anything, glad he got the futon right. About the locks... the manufacturer's version of this model failed, then it shorted out and ate the 2nd set of batteries...Ugh! We have let the lock company know and they are trying to fix their problem but we always have physical key to back it up in cases like this. So sorry for the inconveniences and we hope to get a 5-star rating from you next time - just call us direct and we'll give you a return guest discount! Mahalo, Char & Gary

Wonderful place to rest, relax and enjoy!

  • 5 of 5

As mentioned by many others the O'Hana suite is a lovely retreat that has everything you need for a great Hawaiian vacation. The suite is well set up and having the covered sitting area with the palm trees and birds flitting seemed to double our living space. Really enjoyed having access to the paddle boards and paddling over top of sea turtles right outside our door was a surprise and great delight!

The staff, especially Lynda, were so friendly, approachable and helpful. The library - books and DVD (very eclectic) yoga mats, and computer were much appreciated. Char and Gary were also very pleasant and happy to help or just have a chat.

Thank you you so much for a great stay.

About Charlene and Gary

Aloha from Charlene and Gary.

A little about us.

Char was raised on Maui just a few miles up the beach from Aloha AKU and went to grade school and to St. Anthony’s High School on Maui. Her family also lives here on the island so she and they have seen a lot of changes on Maui over the years. After high school Char left for College at Santa Clara University and majored in TV Production and French. After College she moved the LA and began a carrier in the Entertainment Industry doing everything from modeling to acting and from Producing, Directing and Writing to finally running Production and Entertainment companies.

Ok, so she played Hollywood. Gary has also had a good life having lived in many parts of the country having followed a very successful career in High Tech. He has been a key contributor to Ethernet, Computer analyzed EKG systems, founded a start up Telecommunications product company in Silicon Valley, and ran a $70M per year high tech company in LA. He has always seen himself living on an island and meeting Char 20 years ago was just the ticket to get him to Maui.

So a few years ago this LA couple decided that the time had come to leave the Merry-go-round of their respective businesses and buy a place on Maui and “come home”. So here they are, living the “maui life” as active members of the local community and on many non-profit boards and are supporting many worthy causes. And they decided to create Aloha AKU Inn & Suites and offer a fun, laid back Maui beach experience to fun, laid back and interesting people.

Please join us and enjoy MAUI !
