About The Owner

We love the New Mexico outdoors, and skiing is our family activity in the winter.

Why The Owner chose New Mexico

The Village of Taos Ski Valley is a friendly mountain community that combines the best of American western wilderness with Austrian ski resort, with incredible access to winter and summer wilderness. This location is close to the center of the Village, with easy access to ski trails, yet in a very quiet and private setting away from ski valley traffic. Being directly across from the charming Rio Hondo creek offers year-round sounds of a mountain stream.

What makes this house unique

Taos Ski Valley is the premier ski destination in the west if you appreciate great snow, varied terrain including incredible steeps, while being immersed in the deep blue sunny skies of New Mexico. For the visitors who love art but not skiing, Taos and the nearby village of Arroyo Seco offer galleries and the historic Taos culture that seem a continent apart from the Austrian alpine setting of the ski valley, yet are only a short drive down the valley.

Only good things to say

  • 5 of 5

This well-designed home was a perfect fit for our family of seven. The layout could not have been better, everything was in fine working order and the kitchen was well stocked with condiments, cleaning supplies etc. The slopes are just a short walk away, and town is within walking distance as well. Our AT&T wireless signal was strong. We hope to come back soon.

Mountain Luxury

  • 5 of 5

House was beautiful with all the comforts of home! Everything from the bath towels to the high-efficiency fireplace was top notch. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could need for cooking for a crowd. Plenty of beds- 4 queens (2 are bunked), a trundle twin, and a full. Easy walk to the slopes. The base area bars/restaurants are walkable from the house (if you don't mind a little longer walk). No internet or cable in the house as advertised, spotty 3g signal for Verizon. Definitely need 4WD in the winter for the driveway.

Perfect Family House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed the week before Christmas with 4 teenage boys and our 10 year old daughter. It's a little tricky up the driveway, but was not a problem...4WD definitely required ! The house is perfectly decorated and appointed; there was storage galore, a well stocked and organized kitchen, and spacious dining and living area with beautiful views. The upstairs loft was great space for the boys to hang out and sleep. Bathrooms, towels and laundry were good too.

We LOVED not having internet or cable! The kids played cards, chess, checkers, puzzles and read books - no electronics and nobody missed them, bliss. There are a lot of games and DVD's to choose from at the house as well. The Pioneer lift was a little bit of a walk, but we did it a few times when we didn't need to be at the base for ski school, etc.

The booking process was easy and owner responsive. Snow was amazing....We'd happily go back again!

Christmas ski trip - 2015 Taos Ski Valley

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place to stay for our large group. With separate bedrooms and bathrooms on the 3 different levels, our two families never felt pressed for space. The furnishings were top-notch, and the gourmet kitchen had everything we needed to efficiently cook (and clean) for 8 people. Those with an eye for design and architecture will appreciate the attention to detail given to the interior of this luxury mountain home. The owner was very responsive and helpful, and arranged to have the driveway plowed before our arrival, as we were fortunate enough to have an abundance of snow fall before and after we arrived. Even so, I would recommend 4 wheel or all-wheel drive if you are staying in the winter. This home is close enough to walk to the lifts, and detailed instructions on the closest route were provided by the owner. The home was spotless upon our arrival, with only the best furnishings, from the premium bath towels and linens to the plush leather sofas. There is even a full size chess table provided, which was enjoyed by children and parents alike.

Everyone in our group enjoyed our stay, and are looking forward to coming back.

Great spring skiing experience

  • 5 of 5

This place has a great layout for two families, with a smaller master bedroom downstairs (with private bath), a larger master on the second floor, and a large sleeping loft on the top floor for kids. Our group of nine was very comfortable. The chalet is beautifully constructed and carefully maintained. I was very impressed with the quality of the furnashings and a good collection of videos for nightime relaxation. We could not "Ski-in" due to warm weather, but did not mind the walk to and from the Pioneer lift (it was very doable for lunch). We will certainly considering coming back next time we want to relax in Taos.

Taos Ski Valley

Laid Back Chalet was a beautiful place. I was impressed with the quality of cookware, flatware, linens, water, just everything. We have been to places where I was afraid to cook in the kitchen because of the flimsyness of everything. It was like walking in to my own kitchen. The beds were comfortable and there was room for everything we brought. The view was magnificent and the slopes were close enough that my skiers didn't mind the walk to the lift.
