Each room has a full or Queen bed, the house accommodates 6-8 people. (The ground floor apartment is rented). The style is skier friendly New England. Home of Marilyn Hilly, an ex ski racer, was long listed for the Olympics at Squaw Valley in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Downhill divisions in 1960. The house has been a ski house since that time, ski memorabilia hangs throughout the eclectic converted barn. There is wireless internet service. The location is a short 10 minute drive to the Mad River Valley's 2 fabulous ski areas, Mad River Glen and Sugar bush. There are also two sports centers, (which can be utilized upon paying a daily fee) with indoor tennis, racket ball, swimming pools, saunas, hot tubs, yoga classes, and weight rooms. In a quiet and beautiful setting on a hill off an old logging road, with the State Forest adjacent to the property, one feels secluded and peaceful. Yet the Hilly Farm is one convenient minute from shopping in Irasville which boasts two grocery stores, hair salons, a spa, a hardware store, the post office, restaurants, ice skating rink, and a movie theater. There is a bicycle shop walking distance from the house.. you can even hike or bike on a trail to American Flat bread, or drive it is less than a mile from Dana Hill Road. The Mad Bus, free public transportation, stops at Shaw's and make trips up to both Mountains during ski season. Just another minute down the road, is Waitsfield, with it's Bridge street marketplace, Covered Bridge, town library, and more artisans shops. Another town to explore on the southern end of the Valley is Warren, with it's Warren Store, Parade Art Gallery and more. And there is Blueberry lake, with Ole's x-country ski centre. There are DIY courses to take at the Yestermorrow Design and Build School, only 5 minutes away. There is Valley Festival of the Arts as well as the Mad River Marathon and Bicycle Races in the summer.

Or if you would rather have some peace and quiet, there is our old logging road and trails through the forest to explore by snowshoe, or x-country ski.

We are looking to rent for the Winter season, 6 months is preferred.

About Meg Hilly

I am the daughter of Marilyn B. Hilly, who was an Olympic level ski racer, and tried out for the 1960 Olympics, in Squaw Valley, CA. and I have both studied and taught skiing, horseback riding and art. I currently judge shows and teach dressage in the New England area.

Meg Hilly purchased this farmhouse in 1953

Why Meg Hilly chose Waitsfield

This property was purchased by a group of skiing friends back in the 50's, over the years our family has enjoyed it as a year round vacation home. We especially enjoy skiing, and now that the family has moved on to different parts of the country, we offer it as a vacation home to others who may want something other than a condo experience.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Rustic charm, historical 1893 barn, on the edge of the state forest, close to town and all of the ski areas. A place to recharge and relax in between playing hard in the playground that is our Mad River Valley.
