Waterfront Cottage ~ Acadia National Park - Gorgeous Sunsets!

New Renovations in 2026! We are adding a new addition with a second Queen Bedroom and 2nd bathroom, washer & dryer. The original cottage is being updated with new kitchen appliances (Stove, Fridge & Dishwasher), several new windows & flooring throughout. Stay tuned, photos coming in Spring of 2026!

Acadia Bayside Cottage is a very clean, well-kept waterfront cottage steps to the shore, lots of light and warmth, and amazing water views from every room!

Two ACs, two gas fireplace stoves; two queen bedrooms each with water views, kitchen, dining room with water views, and a Smart Roku TV where guests may log into their own streaming or cable service accounts.

A spacious great room with water views, Outdoor decks with outdoor seating, Weber gas grill. Clean bedding & towels are provided.

Acadia Bayside Cottage is nestled beside a grove of tall pines. Relax in the Adirondack chairs on the bluff overlooking the bay. Witness seals, bald eagles, blue herons, and osprey from the cottage or in your kayak on the water. Peaceful and private, yet close by to all area amenities of the Acadia region.

By car, our cottage is approximately:

10 min to seafood restaurants/lobster pounds just off Route 3 in Trenton along the route you'd follow onto Mount Desert Island (MDI).

10 min to the head of Mount Desert Island which is an area known as the Town Hill section of Bar Harbor.

20 min to the main Acadia National Park entrance and Hulls Cove Visitor's Center.

25 min to downtown Bar Harbor where there are many restaurants & shops, 3 pharmacies, a movie theater, grocery stores, and much more.

Many hiking & biking trails are within a 20-30 min drive. (trails and carriage roads can be accessed all over the island)

10 min to Ellsworth - where you'll find restaurants, movie theaters, grocery stores, pharmacies, Walmart, TJ Maxx, L.L. Bean, and other stores. Main Street in Ellsworth, which leads down to a small bridge & river, is a nice part of this small city with an old-fashioned downtown with some interesting shops and restaurants.
You'll find restaurants along both sides of Main Street. The Union River Lobster Pot is just over the bridge and nestled along the river just behind Rooster Brothers specialty foods store & has excellent seafood. There are also some chain restaurants along Route 3 in Ellsworth.

The cottage was everything we hoped for and more! It was about 30–40 minutes to most Acadia trailheads, which ended up being perfect. There were great coffee stops along the way and the views during the drive were beautiful. At the end of the day, we loved coming back to the quiet and peaceful setting away from the hustle of Bar Harbor.The location near Ellsworth was another big plus. It was less than 10 minutes to town for groceries, restaurants, and a little exploring. The cottage itself was spotless, well-equipped, and had the most amazing views. We spotted seals, a bald eagle, and even a few deer during our stay!The outdoor area was wonderful for our family, especially having space for our toddler to play while we relaxed. Doug and Kim were such thoughtful and kind hosts, very communicative and helpful. We’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy, scenic, and family-friendly getaway! We will absolutely be staying here again.

We were thrilled with our stay, loved our breathtaking views, the well-stocked kitchen, the proximity to Acadia, and the helpful and quick response from our host. Everyone slept comfortably and enjoyed the charm and serenity that comes with being on a gorgeous estuary. We were all so sad to leave!
Sunsets were just breathtaking!

Relaxing getaway to Maine

The cottage was perfect for our family of four. Hosts were great, communication was easy and instructions were given prior to arrival. They also provided many amenities. Our favorite part was the gorgeous view of the bay with stunning sunsets. Kids enjoyed playing in the water and exploring the rocks. We enjoyed making a fire on the beach while watching the sunset over the water. Great location, quiet area. Close to Bar Harbor, Acadia and Ellesworth. Hoping to stay again in the future!

Awesome views!

My family of four stayed at the Waterfront Cottage for our family vacation. It was wonderful! It had a fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds, AWESOME views of the water, and provided a peaceful place to retreat to after a busy day in Acadia or Bar Harbor. Communication with the host was seamless as well. We had a wonderful time

Family vacation

We loved staying at this property. So much wildlife right in your back yard. As a family of 4 we were very comfortable in his home. Acadia was a quick drive away and with this home not being on the main road it made getting around easy.

Amazing stay!

Such an amazing week staying at this spot. The house and area is exactly as described, and the views over the water are incredible. The sun room/extra living room is so relaxing to have the fire going and look out the large windows. Very safe area as well. The hosts are very helpful and available. It’s only a short <30 min drive to bar harbor and the beginning of Acadia which we drove most mornings and it’s a very easy drive with nice views as well. Ellsworth is also only a few minute drive away which we occasional got for dinner if we didn’t want to fight the bar harbor downtown traffic. 10/10 recommend staying here on your next visit!

Cottage on the bay

Description accurate , convenient location to Ellsworth- close to some very good restaurants, not too far from Acadia for hiking and Bar Harbor for restaurants and shopping. Quaint cottage on the water with great sunsets. Equipped with everything you need. Loved sitting on the deck!

Pics don’t do it justice

Spent a week here while our kids were at sleepaway camp and it was a perfect spot. We heard a coyote, loons and owls and saw ospreys regularly. So close to Acadia. Highly recommend and lovely owners. Only advice - don’t work remotely like we did - take the full vacation!

Wonderful property!

We loved our time at the waterfront cottage. The sunsets over the water were beautiful, and there were multiple options to enjoy the view - two decks and chairs to move around the yard. Our boys (ages 14 and 11) spent hours skipping rocks and exploring the shoreline. Observing the differences on the shoreline between high and low tides was neat. We never did make use of the fire-pit, but that would have been fun. The house was very clean with everything we needed for our 5 day visit. The kitchen was well-stocked with the essentials to make meals. Beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed a few of the many games available for use, and there were also plenty of movies and CDs to choose from. Communication from the owners was excellent. We used the cottage as a base to visit Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It was an easy 20-30 minute drive. We went into Ellsworth (10 mins) for groceries, and had several meals in Ellsworth and Trenton (also about 10 mins). Although Bar Harbor is a beautiful town and closer to Acadia (our primary purpose for the visit), we preferred to stay in the more peaceful setting of the waterfront cottage. The house next door appeared to be under renovation, but there was no one doing work during our visit. We couldn't have asked for a better location for our first visit to Maine.

This cottage is superb!

It was hard to leave this idyllic cottage, not only at the end of our stay, but every day we went exploring. I often thought how we could not explore anything and just stay at the cottage all day, every day. From watching the sunrise across the water, to the sunset in the evening everything was wonderful! The views are the best part of this place. Right on the water, amazingly peaceful. The sunsets were spectacular!! As for the cottage, it was wonderful. Everything was clean, updated, and nicely appointed. Three decks allowed you to enjoy the views. We spent most of our time in the sunroom with high ceiling and a fan and walls of windows, it was the perfect spot to watch the sunset and hang with the family playing a board game at night. The cottage is close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National park where we spent a lot of our time exploring. There is so much to do in the area and so many amazing restaurants, we will definitely be back! Our hosts Kim and Doug were great. Communicated when we needed it, but gave us space to enjoy our stay. They were super organized and you wanted for nothing at the cottage. If you are on the fence, please rest assured you do not need to be. This place is everything it presents in the description and photos and 10x more! It is a WINNER! Thanks again Kim and Doug, we will return!

Memorable Vacation

Charming cottage with beautiful water views. Extremely clean, well maintained and equipped. We enjoyed the beach views with coffee in the morning and fires at sun down. Lots of great decks for outdoor enjoyment. Absolutely wonderful!

Excellent stay

Beautiful setting and property! 30 mins to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. House was very nicely furnished and clean with everything we needed to season, cook, clean and just enjoy the location! West facing for sunsets over the water. Bird watching was good. Master bed was very comfy. 2 fire stoves were comfy as well. Decks! I just can’t say enough nice things. Don’t hesitate. Just book it and enjoy. We sure did. Thanks so much!

Relaxing & Loving it at Bayside Cottage!

The bayside cottage was all we hoped it would be!! So quiet and peaceful. Loved that the cottage was near the water and far from the road. Gorgeous sunsets and views!! I loved the kitchen and found it extra Well appointed. I was able to bake to my heart’s content! Evening we enjoyed grilling and eating by the water. Tons of room to spread out. Living room and sunroom were fabulous!

Great location!

My husband and I stayed in this lovely cottage while our daughter was away for the week at camp. This was a perfect location to get in some work during the day and explore the area in the afternoon and evening - All the hikes we wanted to try and some great restaurants were no more than 15-20 minutes away. It would have been a great location if our daughter was with us too as the shoreline offered a lot for a child to explore.

Amazing views, however ....

Pros: Incredible sunset views of the bay Very clean Well stocked kitchen A/C in both bedrooms (listing is not accurate) Cons: The well water for the cottage is salty and undrinkable. Owners should state this in listing and contract, and not just admit that it's a problem in the instructions located on the property. At a minimum leave a gallon of drinking water until renters can get to the store The beds in twin room are only suitable for small children. The matresses are worn out and the ancient bed springs are not a typical modern box spring.They are extremely uncomfortable for an adult. We wanted to use one of the twin beds as my spouse has restless leg syndrome, and ended up having to put the mattress on the floor in the living room. There is an extensive construction project at the property that shares the driveway. This wasnt disclosed to us until 2 months before our arrival, and project was clearly started way before then. No chance at that point to find another place for 4th of July week. Fortunately the neighbors were very considerate about letting us know when the driveway way going to be blocked for deliveries of materials.

Perfect Escape in Nature

Our family had the best week staying at Doug and Kim's house. Our children loved playing outside, picking wildflowers, and walking along the shore. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets on the deck and spent as much time as possible in the sunroom. It was only a short drive to Acadia National Park, the grocery store, and several great spots for lobster. We hope to visit again!

Great getaway spot

What a beautiful cottage on the water. As others have stated, cottage is well stocked and clean. The sunroom is amazing, as well as water front views and small beach area. We found ourselves spending our evenings there to cook an easy dinner after exploring Acadia rather than going out to eat. Highly recommend!

Lovely Cottage

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, set back from the road, and was focused on the tides, breezes and sunsets to the west. An easy drive to any of the Mount Desert harbors but out of the fray, beautiful and quiet. We hope to return in the seasons to come. Thank you Kim and Doug

Perfect location for exploring Acadia!

We had the best stay at this cozy cottage! The location is perfect - It’s about 10 minutes to Ellsworth which has many food options for lunch and dinner and 25 minutes to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. My children are 4 and 6 and they loved playing in the tide pools right outside of the cottage. The water is lovely and calm. We all swam, went paddle boarding, and kayaked in the bay. The hosts were so kind and friendly. We would definitely return to this relaxing retreat! Thanks to Kim and Doug for sharing this beautiful property!

Very well planned out and appointed

The cottage was well designed and was perfectly stocked with everything we could have wanted. Even the bookshelf seemed curated to include the kinds of reading one would do on a vacation. We had a glorious time.

Beautiful & Comfortable Home

Perfect spot for our family of three for a week. The cove provided a nice protected area for kayaking and hanging out by the water. Bald Eagle made a daily appearance on the rocks across the cove. Easy drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. House was well stocked, clean and comfortable. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place!

Acadia Bayside Cottage is situated on beautiful Mill Cove, near the confluence of Blue Hill Bay and Union River Bay. Our cove is an excellent place to sea kayak, and is frequently visited by Seals, Harbor Porpoise, Bald Eagles, Blue Heron, Double-Crested Cormorant, King Fisher, and Loons. Four-footed friends have included the occasional White-tailed Deer and baby Fox!
