This saves us both. 60' of private frontage on Lower Herring Lake, sandy beach, gradual drop-off, private dock w/ ladder, swim raft, with access (parking pass) by boat or car to miles of beautiful, private beach on Lake Michigan. This is pristine, private, and undeveloped beach for miles, with dunes blending into forests. Lake Michigan beach is like Sleeping Bear without the park rangers or fees. Never a crowd and often never anybody. Miles of beach was saved from development by the Noble family through the Watervale Inn. We only rent by the week in July and August.

We are 1/4 mile from the paved road, very quiet and peaceful. We also have a 3 bedroom cottage on the lake for rent 3 doors down (vrbo 398063). 10 French doors overlook the lake, cherry wood floors, granite counters, modern see thru deck fence, Satellite and Netflix TV. Watch postcard perfect sunsets over either lake. We are 6 miles south of Frankfort, 5 miles north of Arcadia.

Upper level has great room, 3 bedrooms (queen, double, 2 twins, and a 3/4 bath, lower level has 1 bedroom (queen), den with trundle (2 twins) and a bunk bed (2 more twins) and 2 bathrooms.

Herring Lake connects to Lake Michigan via a shallow, sandy stream directly across the lake.

Amenities: All linens provided, canoe, 2 kayaks, life jackets, paddles, full kitchen, gas stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, satellite TV, Netflix WIFI, DVD/VCR player, beach chairs, water softener, firewood for beach fires on Lake Michigan, propane grill, 50 kid DVDs and grown up movies, games, deck table with 4 chairs.

Miles and miles of rails to trails bike paths in the area, running between Elberta, Frankfort, Beulah and Thompsonville. SUP, pontoon boat, speed boat and sailboat rental available right on the lake, delivered to your beach.

I'll send a detailed list of things to do, complete with golfing, fishing, shopping, water skiing, sailing, kayaking, hiking, biking, pick-your-own strawberries and cherries, flying tours, Indian casino's, restaurants, sights, movies etc.

Awesome for multi generational family vacation!

We enjoyed our stay at the beginning of June. Lots of beds to easily sleep everyone. Loved the private beach! Comfortable for everyone...from great grandparents to toddlers! Pete was very responsive to any requests we had. Looking forward to returning!

Our Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect place for our family to spend time together! Beautiful, clean, spacious gathering area, everything you could possible need in the kitchen, lots of bedrooms and bathrooms for all the kids and grandkids, and of course the gorgeous view and sunsets every evening. Lots to see and do in the area too. Everyone had such a great time. We can't wait to come back again!

Family Time

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I, our two children and spouses, four grand children. One week in July. Perfect! I guess what I (the grandpa) liked best was that everyone seemed to enjoy the freedom to do whatever he or she wanted. I slept like a baby seven nights in a row, got up early, enjoyed each morning with an early-riser granddaughter. You could put a dollar value on that -- and you would be low.

Lucky Find!

  • 5 of 5

This property was amazing! I scoured so many rental listings for our yearly vacation that I couldn't see straight. The pictures are what sold us on this particular property. The pictures posted looked so nice, clean and up-to-date... and it was! The house was huge with plenty of room to spread out in... not to mention 3 FULL baths, so no waiting in line for the restroom. The kitchen is stocked with everything I needed to cook. The lake was perfect for our toddler who begged every day to go "swimming" in it. The location was spot on for us. We come mainly for salmon fishing in Frankfort. We discovered that you can kite surf in Frankfort... there's even a surf shop where you can rent what you need! Some of the sites I would recommend to visit are Point Betsie lighthouse, the beach in Frankfort, the fish hatchery, Gwen Frostics and visiting Traverse City. So look into booking this cottage and spending your time sipping coffee out at the end of the dock while enjoying the scenery.

It was a very stress-free booking as well. The owner was patient with all of my questions. I would definately recommend this cottage to my family and friends.

Tip: Plan ahead and make calls to see if the things you want to do and see will be open. Some places have seasonal hours and availability.
